  1. You don't get COVID being outside and furthermore by the time the season starts nearly 50% of Americans should be vacced. The CDC keeps slow playing the benefits of the vac. IT'S MADDENING! This is the arguably the greatest human achievement ever in medicine and yet all we fucking here from the screeching media and CDC is how cautious we should still be even when vacced. GTFO. The vaccine was created to get us back to FULL NORMAL life. There are people that want COVID lockdowns to continue indefintely to serve a political agenda. These people can fuck off. We aren't going to have UBI because you got laid off at Starbucks last spring. It's time to get on with normal life and economic activity.

  2. Yeah I've seen some pretty maddening comments on Facebook posts from people who have gotten both doses saying they are still just going to stay home. Why get vaccinated? Why take that away from someone else who could use it that needs to go back to work or just normal life?

  3. What you described with your wife (sorry to hear that and I genuinely hope she's doing well), isn't really relevant to the point. They didn't study if vaccinated people can spread the disease when the vaccines were being tested and developed, so they aren't able to come out and say it. So instead, they started saying "we can't say for sure if vaccinated people can spread the virus. It's possible." Somehow, the covid stans turned that into "vaccinated people can still spread the virus! Wear two masks even if you've been vaccinated! Don't plan on getting your life back anytime soon!!!1!one!!." And of course the natural result of that is a ton of people saying "well hell, why bother getting vaccinated then?" And that sucks, because we need as many people as possible to get the shot as soon as possible for the good of public health. The vaccine won't 100% eliminate transmission, because it doesn't 100% eliminate infection - but it will SIGNIFICANTLY lower transmission. Evidence is accumulating showing this.

  4. Only three of our regular starters have pitched: Lance Lynn, Gio and Reylo 11.2 innings pitched 3 hits 1 run 15 strikeouts. Only four actual relief pitchers: Kopech, Crochet, Heuer and Marshall: 7 innings pitched 4 hits 0 runs 8 strikeouts. So of the guys that matter they have pitched two complete games averaged 3.5 hits per game, .5 runs and 12 strikeouts. Stop worrying.

  5. I don't see the problem with outside events. The science says the risk of spreading COVID outside is is massively reduced. If someone feels at risk or is just scared, they can stay home. No one's forcing anyone to go. Everybody in attendance knows the risks and are consenting adults. Not sure why people are trying to police others' free will. Yeah that was basically my experience. Fever, chills and body ache day 1. Really tired for a few days after that. The hardest part of COVID for me was my boss thinking I was going to die because I had COVID and not expecting me to do my normal workload. Pairing that with quarantining for 2 weeks and I was so incredibly bored. More bored than I'd ever been before. Felt like house arrest.

  6. People need to stop spreading this horseshit. It's infuriating, and it's wrong. On top of that, you're discouraging people from getting the vaccine, which we badly need people to do to reach herd immunity. Evidence is mounting that covid-19 vaccines will significantly hinder the spread of covid. Do some research on it.

  7. Indeed we are. Because pointing out where people's arguments are flawed is in no way horseshit. And it happens in virtually every thread, including ones I don't post in.

  8. Should be interesting to see how the Sox adjust once Texas and I'd imagine Miami and maybe Houston have no issues with more capacity. I think I heard Missouri will have more capacity as well but not quite 100%. Hopefully the government adjusts quickly but I am not holding my breath.

  10. Most teams are doing the right thing and allowing a percentage at first. All signs, regardless of the occasional article stating otherwise, point to the majority of adults who want the vaccine to be vaccinated by May/June. It's not inconceivable to expect to see full or nearly full capacity in stadiums by mid-summer. But, yes, the fearmongering is tiring. We've been told since last March that only a vaccine will get us out of this. Now we have three great vaccines, and some of the messaging is that nothing will change. I get my second shot on Friday. I'll feel much safer, and when I can, I'll be going to a damn baseball game.

  13. I read a scout saying Andrew Vaughn was Paul Konerko on steroids. I wouldn't trade him. He is going to be in the middle of the line up for a long time. If the scout is correct, that is a HOF type of guy. I don't think RH wants his legacy to be a guy who traded multiple HOFers before they even got started.

  15. Literally none of this matters. Injuries are the only thing one should worry about in spring. Most vets are working on specific things they may feel needs work/improvement.

  16. Joe Rogan knows how to make conversation and engender strong opinions from his guests.. As a quality in a podcaster, that's a good thing. As a message board poster it gets tiresome when you feel a particular poster is just baiting over and over again. I'm not on a podcast, I don't have to talk to fill time, hence the ignore button.

  17. Blocking another posters existence is pretty much the opposite of full bully. If someone feels like ignoring someone will improve their experience on this site, by all means go ahead. The blocked person isn't notified unless they are told, who cares

  18. Haha haha “their obsession” I’m from Montana so I have nothing against the Cubs. But this board and our fans in general are just as obsessed. I roll my eyes daily at posts here about the Cubs and the inferiority complex a lot of fans seem to have with them. But sure it’s them that have issues.

  19. As the thread title says, I'm going to enjoy the White Sox this year. Some posters on Soxtalk? Not so much. I would enjoy it more if people would stick to the topics and refrain from personal back and forth.

  21. From LOTS of previous past experience, the solution to these situations is usually to take a step back and get your priorities straight. I went through five years of criticizing everything Sox/Hahn/JR, it gets quite tiring, and it doesn't change the way the organization operates by one iota, so what's the point? I'll probably go to my grave arguing we would have won a World Series if we had kept Tatis (if we don't get another title in the next 5-6 years), but, in the end, repeating something over and over again doesn't make a point more valid or powerful, it does exactly the opposite. That's where the Tony Robbins-esque overly optimistic or rose-colored glasses posts were rubbing some the wrong way. At any rate, the only way to really learn anything new in life is to listen and observe, so posting less and arguing less will lead to a much longer and more enjoyable life.

  22. These posts honestly crack me up - not because you made it Tex, but because there are grown men in the world reporting internet messages/posts to moderators because a poster hurt their feelings and they want them punished. ?

  23. Then can we please change the title to “Cespedeses” (which is somehow even more satisfying to say)? Cespedeses.

  26. You said "vaccination doesn't prevent transmission." That's almost certainly wrong. I don't really see what's hard to comprehend about this. That "opinion piece" cited actual data, by the way. If you have any data to support the notion that vaccination does not prevent transmission, let's see it. You also said that the vaccines don't prevent infection, and that's already been pointed out to you as being wrong. So yeah, you're definitely spreading BS.

  27. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/rangers-will-allow-fans-at-100-percent-capacity-on-opening-day-192526983.html Wonder if you're going to have the possibility of teams refusing to play in places like Dallas (especially indoors), Houston, The Trop, etc.? What's the acceptable rate of community spread, positive cases, hospitalizations, etc., to where MLB would have to make a decision to go against the governors/owners for the sake of continuity of season and not having a potential repeat of all those situations like the Braves, Cardinals and especially the Marlins experienced in 2020? Can players opt-out for individual games/series? Well, that would seem to go against the CBA, right? Uncharted waters here.

  29. I'm on a Bears and Bulls mesage board for I'm sure about 15 years. And for those 15 years they have made a big deal about preseason on both boards 15 times. And if the preseason ever has matched the reg season, it hasn't happened much. But they return year after year with the same correlation talk.

  30. Certainly seems to be a mystery to you, given that you were spreading false information in this very thread. My point, which you seem to have missed, is that if we are telling people they can still spread the vaccine and can't go back to normal after being vaccinated, less people are going to be lining up for the vaccine. That's just human nature. Here's a couple links that might explain it better: https://www.cleveland.com/opinion/2021/03/time-to-flip-the-switch-on-covid-19-vaccine-messaging-jim-sollisch.html https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/22291959/covid-vaccines-transmission-protect-spread-virus-moderna-pfizer

  36. Just out of curiosity, are you a medical professional or scientist? There are conflicting, scientific reports on both sides of the argument, that vaccination may or may not hinder spread. My wife was vaccinated and still tested positive several weeks later. She is a teacher and lives 8-4 in a petri dish. Vaccinated people can still spread the virus.

  37. I'm not concerned in the least. The only thing that bothers me is the only reason I view the games is the entertainment value of them is higher when I see the Sox win and score a lot of runs and guys from the eventual 26 pitching doing well it's more entertaining.

  43. They very much reduce infection and transmission, your information is from a very narrow reading of what the initial EUAs were filed for but since then there have been millions vaccinated and studies in places like Israel confirming what was already very likely. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-21/pfizer-biontech-shot-stops-covid-s-spread-israeli-study-shows Note, that topline number will be lower, but if you are vaccinated you are less likely to be infected and are less likely to transmit, but we don't know to what degree yet. But that is a substantial reduction of risk to the point that idea that you couldn't hold a concert because people may spread it outside is much more stringent than a "anyone can go to an indoor restaurant with some space between them" standard which currently exists.

  44. Would be interesting. The CDC just released a statement saying that fully vaccinated people can gather without masks or social distancing (duh) so if they do end up requiring proof of vaccinations, they shouldn't need a cap on how many fans are allowed to enter, if everyone is vaccinated anyway
