IMO try to trade Grandal for Blackmon, kicking in a lower-end prospect or two if necessary due to the amount remaining on Grandal's deal. It's some immediate salary relief for COL. Or maybe Grandal + Ruiz for Blackmon. C Lucroy / Collins 1B Abreu/Vaughn DH Abreu/Vaughn LF Blackmon RF Eaton ...and it actually makes us a better team than we were before. Grandal lovers would certainly disagree.11 points

Wow. this is much better for the longterm. If he ruptured it they can tack it back down and all is good. A tear in the middle of the muscle could cause long term issues. It sucks but could definitely have been worse longterm9 points

I’d like to see them trade for Gallo. It will cost something of value, but that can be recouped next off-season by dealing from a surplus once Eloy is presumably healthy. We’ve waited long enough, let’s go for it.4 points

Again, real contenders have depth. Cheapskate pretenders stay cheap, and try to convince fans that everything can go right at once.4 points

NO NO NO NO NO! This kind of thinking finally lead a long time lurker to make his first post. The Sox front office and ownership group does not get to kick the can down the road another year. I was an anti-rebuild guy and I'm tired of being told to be patient. The Sox threw away multiple seasons on tank jobs. It is year 5 of the rebuild. It is time to make some serious noise and go on a World Series run this year. Enough is enough.4 points

Gonna be electric when Eloy comes back for the playoffs and leads up to a title4 points

You don't win the Postseason with 3 pitchers. It's going to take a lot more & at this point we can't go blow for blow with the top, top tier teams. Maybe we can win the AL Pennant, but this wasn't the WS year anyways. I know we'd like to think so, but it's not. You've got a buncha rookies who havne't played whole seasons let alone 200+ games including ST, regular season and postseason.4 points

Also having people argue the entire off-season that Leury & Mendick was enough position player depth sure was fun!3 points

Hope Eloy doesn't end up like Carlos Quentin. I realize what potential disaster Eloy was in left field, but an offensive threat like him is rare. A loss like this can't be shrugged off. I know that trades are easier said than done, but I think the Sox should do something to show their fans they are serious about making this rebuild. The team hasn't won 90 games in 15 years. We've had more than enough losing and also-rans.3 points

I was wrong about playing Eloy. He was dumber than I ever thought even though he was still my favorite player. This kills the Sox for this year and complicates the DH spot moving forward. For me, this just destroyed my excitement for this season . I have waited too see a powerful Sox line-up like we had on paper since the '77 season Fuck the World. This Sox and Eloy fan's heart is broken. Cub fans rejoice. Fuck them too.3 points

I’ve yet to hear of Vaughn hurting himself giving someone a hug or running the bases.3 points

I have never seen anyone tear their pec hanging over the fence. Normally, that would classify it a fluke injury. But I don't think there is a fluke injury for Eloy.3 points

That's one way to do it. "Nice health you've got there, would be a shame if something happened to it. Oh, have you met my friend Eloy? Here's a picture of him in his hospital bed. Now about that extension..."3 points

Just judging by Hahn’s tone, I think they trade for someone. Vaughn talk likely just to give Sox more leverage.3 points

It's much better as I posted. He won't have any where near structural issues in the muscle that he would have if it was a tear in the middle of the muscle and it involved more of the muscle fibers as opposed to the tendon.3 points

if the Sox don't absolutely decide here and now that Eloy is a full time DH, trade his ass next year, he's a huge liability if he can't play every single day3 points

Let's start the clock on our #1 prospect and stick him at DH when we already have 2 everyday players that shouldn't be in the field AND the second best best offensive catcher on the planet who also needs plate appearances at DH. Our front office is aggressive in only the wrong ways.3 points

If Lucroy makes the roster and Collins is sent down, they either need to trade Collins or have him change positions. There is nothing more he could have done to make the team. If they choose a replacement level at best vet over him, it's time to move on, either from behind the plate or the organization.3 points

Or, there's the connecting thread that all those guys sucked out loud at baseball, and couldn't play dead, except for Semien. I think my calling KW/RH "fooking stoopid" for trading Semien and a pile of other stuff for jeff fooking samardzjia (sp?) got me banned from WSI for awhile. [Those imbeciles at WSI were still all sacchariney-sweet on "In Kenny We Trust" back then.] But, to your point, yes, this org has sucked a horse's ass at teaching players how to defend. I think that's cogent in terms of discussing Jimenez's future position, if this org can't get better at helping him get better at defense.3 points
