What a stupid thing to talk about. The World Series starts tonight. The Astros and Braves are playing. Watch it if you want. Or don’t.5 points

Rocky Wirtz did a nice job when he took over for his father, who had taken over from his father. A family dynasty is often worth more than money. I'd like to see Michael Reinsdorf become co-chair with Jerry moving forward. Then Michael can hire a new GM, like Theo. Hahn has to go.3 points

I think it would be a good hire, too, especially because Ozzie wouldn't be in the White Sox clubhouse. The west coast is a good place for him. Good and far away.2 points

This is the difference between the Braves getting "hot" at the right time and the sox staying home. It would be nice for them to actually work on fundamentals and take it seriously instead of watching the "well fuck it anyone can play anywhere" edition where guys who barely know how their glove works are out in the field.2 points

He has always played in challenging home run parks. Comiskey Park was 352 down the lines (with 12 foot high walls), 375 to the alleys and 410 to CF. Cleveland Municipal Stadium was 395 to the alleys and 410 to CF. Minnie still finished top 10 in slugging eight times, including second behind Williams in 1954 (and finished with the highest bWAR that season). Minoso was a 13 time All Star, Top 4 four times in MVP balloting, finished with a .299 / .387 / .461 career. Certainly a better addition to the HOF than most of the Veterans Committee elected White Sox already in the HOF, who also did not have the biographical background and discriminatory burdens Minoso faced.2 points

Wow, Ozzie and the Padres are going to beat the Sox in the world series. Great.2 points

I think its pretty safe to assume Leury will get resigned. We'll also have Romy around for stints if needed.2 points

Every time I read a discussion regarding sports team ownership, I think of the Green Bay Packers and think/wish that all pro sports teams should be set up the same way. It's such a unique and really cool way for a team to function.2 points

No. No. No. No. No. Cmon now. You can't go implying Steve Stone has a 'pattern' going on. He's a baseball guy who is paid to assess skills, effort, etc. Give specific examples or apologize to Stone.2 points

It's a fun, classic caulfield quote because correcting it makes it wrong in a new direction.2 points

He shot 36% on 6.6 3PA last season. The guy isn't a bad shooter, and the potential is there. I think his overall FG% improves now that he isn't the primary point guard. Much less pressure will be on him. He's a scorer, not a point guard. Coming off the bench will suit him better. What I thought they clearly missed is size and rebounding. They could use an athletic 6'10 player to put at PF. I wouldn't mind floating PWill to a rebuilding team if you could upgrade at PF.2 points

I don’t think our fan base needs or deserves to hope this apple has fallen far enough away from the tree so as to avoid a continuation of the approach of the last four decades. We need and deserve a brand, new orchard.2 points

Indicative of how this team way overachieved and more kudos need to go towards LaRussa making something out of a very anemic underperforming offense most of the season. I understand health played a big factor on why Eloy, Robert, and Grandal didn't make the list. But there are no excuses why Abreu and Moncada underperformed so badly.2 points

Quick--somebody petition the league to change the quarantine period from 7 days to 7 months.2 points

After the last four plus decades of Reinsdorfian dysfunction, one franchise-crippling decision after another, and less-than-optimal on the field results, I think this charter AL franchise is both in need and deserving of a completely new & fresh approach by a new owner. One who will preferably run the team as a big market team, and no more of this “can’t spend a dollar when you only have fifty cents” BS. How about an owner with deep pockets for this team for once!2 points

If he buys each member of the Analytics department a second monitor then I’m all in!2 points

I think a completely new ownership person/group would be the best path forward, but I would give him a chance to see what changes get made.2 points

I have no idea why they made the height and weight of the player public. The report basically doxxed him (when they weren't trying to). Only took me 5 minutes to go back and look from that on that 2010 team and found out who the player was. And the one thing this has told me is what I already knew for years. John McDonough is a grade A piece of shit. Never liked him then, hate him even more now.1 point

Oh there are players on the Braves who have said Ron Washington was the key to their season in many ways. That guy has always been known as a guy who preaches fundamentals and works with each guy on the defensive side. Shit if he was the manager here, Tim Anderson would probably be a gold glover.1 point

I like this for a couple reasons: 1. Even though most of us have a sour taste in our mouth re: Ozzie he's actually a brilliant manager. I watched almost all of the post game shows this yearand he explained what he would do differently over a lot of the questionable TLR decisions. I'd take him over TLR in a heartbeat and I'm by no means a TLR hater. Hope he gets the job. We face SDP at least once I know next year will be a cool series. 2. It will most likely piss off Cloverfield Why I don't like it: 1. It means we are getting more Bacon and Scotty Pods on pre/post game unless Frank wants to step up and become a regular.1 point

It's a national tragedy that the guy isn't a manager anymore. PC nerds that have never played baseball want him out of the game.1 point

He’s a good player and good players are in general good, but Seems just a bizarre choice when we walked away from the Astros series thinking we were too heavy on right handed, poor defensive corner infield types and then sign Nick Castellanos.1 point

They also retain their name and logo, the organization has had a permanent disconnect with proper messaging. Today was nothing more than a self-serving way to avoid any ownership responsibility and attempt to regain credibility. It would be a perfect day to wipe the entire slate clean, not lose a penny by promoting Danny and hiring a new president, and forming a new identity like the Cleveland Guardians are doing. The team is behind perma-scum such as Dan Snyder at this stage. Would love nothing more than for John McDonough to spill the beans on what he told Rocky Wirtz about these incidents and Rocky's response. Also what was discussed regarding Bill Peters, and whatever else went down over there that the public is not aware, though this public airing will never happen.1 point

It's not good from a Sox perspective. I don't think they need a SS. Freeman, Gausman, Bryant and Stroman probably stay put. Are there any quality second baseman on the market? It doesn't look like it. (I imagine Semien moves back to SS if he leaves Toronto)1 point

I tend to agree, it would make me feel a lot better about continuing on as a Hawks fan, but I have no faith in Bettman to do that. He could, step down and pass the torch to Danny which would be the next best option.1 point

1) this is great content 2) Oh man, I can see a world where Ozzie actually becomes heel and takes that heat from machado/tatis, I can also see the world where ozzie gangs up on Tatis with Machado and makes everything worse Overall, managers don't matter really. Their organizational pitching system needs to be figured out, not sure Ozzie solves that.1 point

Little AFL Update: Jose Rodriguez went 2 for 5 to bring his OPS up to .681. Rodriguez is just 20 years old, making him the youngest on the Devil Dogs. Im definitely impressed with this showing. Yoelqui Cespedes went 1 for 4 and has on OPS of .580. He has 1 XBH (a double) in 30 ABs. His OPS has greatly benefited from his 3 HBPs as he has zero walks to 10ks. Not ideal. Yolbert Sanches didn't play today. He's 2 for 10 in AFL play Johan Dominguez started had an impressive line of : 3IP 2H 1ER 1BB 5 Ks. His ERA is still over 11 for the AFL, but this outing was a great sign. J.B Olson struck out the only batter he faced. Olson has a 4.5 ERA in 6IP so far this fallwith 5 K's to 1 BB. He's 26 years old, but missed one season to injury and obviously lost another to COVID. McKinley Moore didn't pitch but has a 5.40 ERA in 3.1 IP. He's a true reliever that finished the year in high A as a 22 year old. Caleb Freeman didn't pitch either. He has an AFL line of : 3.2 IP 3H 1ER 4BB 2SOs. Freeman had a nice finish to the year and recorded a 2.70 ERA in AA in 14 relief appearances.1 point

Reality is White, Williams, picks and one of the existing core pieces are probably getting dealt for a disgruntled star at some point to take this team next level (or some combination of that). Don't ask me who that star is - and no - not making that deal for Ben Simmons (nor are the Sixers).1 point

They will need to find an athletic big that can play D and rebound at some point - but that should be doable (not great) but someone who can help against longer teams so they don't get crushed on the boards.1 point

The franchise needs a completely new face lift, and I doubt that another Reinsdorf can do it. The team has just lanquished for way too long. A division title every 10 years or so doesn't cut it. Change is needed so badly, but it isn't going to happen in the near future.1 point

Take a look and Yasmani’s stats compared to Sanchez. I knew Yasmani had a much better season, but I didn’t realize he was in another universe until I just looked. What is this garbage? All-offensive awards that ignore every offensive stat? Offensive.1 point

I think for the first time in our lifetime the Sox are going to act like a big market team this off season.1 point

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) Hahn just does what he is told. He's a lawyer turned contract negotiator turned GM. There is no evidence that he actually knows anything about baseball talent evaluation. This times a thousand. Hahn is a privileged dude from Winnetka who has been in over his head as a GM since day one. He is most likely a very smart dude, but his results as a GM are pretty terrible.1 point
