  1. The cool thing if they would have signed Schwarber is they would be a very similar team except instead of Gavin Sheets they'd have 25 more home runs

  4. So how much of the meager farm are they going to mortgage in a desperate attempt to go for it? Instead of addressing any of the root causes for their struggles?

  5. They look like a team that was convinced they could flip the switch whenever and then when they tried to flip the switch, there was no power

  8. Or like how half this website declared that Kimbrel was untradeable and nobody would take that contract and you for sure wouldn't be getting a player back because there is no GM that dumb

  11. Leury not getting the take sign on 2-0 is easily the worst decision of the game, in a game where my dead grandma would have made better decisions than Tony

  13. You could also say the people who thought the Sox should just spend the $1 million to buy out Kimbrel and spend the savings on a real left handed hitter probably had a better thought process than the Michigan, Harvard, and NU educated Sox GM.

  14. I don’t think Eloy is getting enough love. 2 for 5 with 3 RBI and a big bomb. Nice to have someone come back and immediately make a difference.

  16. Joe Madden? The same Joe Madden that couldn't win anything with Trout & Ohtani? His pixie dust magic has long since worn off. Fact is TLR is a crotchety old drunkard curmudgeon who still believes he is at the peak of his "abilities". He really should be spending his twilight years by the pool with a mai tai instead of pretending his still has any acumen in the dugout. I have to imagine he is absolutely miserable day in and day out, as is anyone who has to deal with him, but ego and delusion are a hell of a drug.

  19. I watch Tony in the dugout he looks like he is uptight and mad at the world , and his players must be feel the same. I really think Joe Madden would set this team on a winning streak and make it fun to play they are both older managers but Joe is very good with younger players.

  21. Never draft for need, but man, an infusion of pitching talent is badly needed in this organization right now.

  25. Yes. Pollock hit RHP pretty well, but chances are he was in a far more balanced line up when he faced them with other teams. Pitchers can sometimes struggle finding their slots when the line up is balanced. A real LHH would do this team some good.

  26. It's absolutely ridiculous. The draft should have been a month ago. The summer is for playing baseball and these guys are missing valuable development time because they're just sitting around afraid of getting hurt. They're afraid to hit, afraid to throw, and afraid to lift and Manfred couldn't care less because he wants his show no one is going to watch. He just doesn't get it and he can't go away soon enough.

  27. Drury would be such a White Sox acquisition.

  28. They need to be a little more serious in the FA market. Interesting that the teams that come out benefiting from the trade deadline are teams that are looking for supplements instead of dire need. The Sox will be seeking deals from a side of weakness. Once again they will try to use NL players to fill that need. Maybe, just maybe it will work this time. We are talking about a NL pitcher who has to learn a new set of hitters, parks, and catchers. That's not gonna work mid season. Paper is logical but history is reality.

  29. So… no Colson Montgomery? A little crazy, but no Marcelo Mayer either. Probably should have gotten another three Yankees onto the roster.

  30. Also, don’t see Colas getting moved unless he’s the headliner for someone like Bryan Ramos. Hahn has struggled to acquire a quality left-handed power bat in recent years (outside of Grandal) and our minor league OF depth isn’t exactly super promising at the moment. I think Montgomery, Colas, & Vera are more or less untouchables, with guys like Sosa & Ramos more likely to be moved.

  34. I understand and respect that. I personally really miss hearing Farmer on the radio. He might have been an acquired taste, but he was our acquired taste. RIP Farmio.

  35. This is what I'm afraid of. The farm is pretty barren, but I fear they go all KW to bolster a flawed roster in a desperate attempt to make a run.

  39. It doesn't have anything to do with Dunn. They signed Grandal and he is a similar 3 outcome hitter

  40. I'm with Jack though. I don't want to give up Montgomery for a top pitcher. Not saying he is good enough for the trade, but if a situation like last year arises and a trea turner type becomes available, you go for it because top position players are awesome and hard to get. But 'top pitcher on struggling team' is what I'd go after if we were comfortably in first. Honestly the Braves moves at the deadline make sense even if I don't think it would replicate near the success, but it allowed them to still go for it while not costing much of anything.

  42. * Flipped to MLBPIpeline.com and traded for the highest rated prospects from 7 months prior. * Outbid the universe for a mega prospect (Props probably belong to [gasp] Jerry) * Flipped to MLBPipeline and traded for the highest rated prospects from 11 months prior. Cease and maybe Reynaldo had "arrows up" next to their name when acquired. Giolito, Kopech, Eloy, Rutherford all were trending down when Rick traded for them. Hahn's greatest failure in the post Shields era was the lack of diamonds in the rough produced through 3+ years of open opportunity at the major league and AAA level. Aaron Bummer's extension his best move? Maybe jumping the market for Grandal? Neither move looking as strong these days. Honestly, with how weak the Central has been, and how much the club HAS spent, I believe the Hahn era has been an absolute failure. I grade it a D+ and it appears we are going to find ourselves in a very similar position to Dec 2016 where we have two or three positive contracts and a whole lotta meh.
