  1. I thought they had traded for Kepler for a minute.

  2. Thought we traded for Domingo German and we were cornering the market on domestic abusers. * *I should add alleged. My pal rabbit gets mad when you don't assume the woman is lying.

  3. Of all of the things to be mad about, getting more innings for the pen right now is not it.

  4. I love how some posters want so bad to be mad about this. Lol. German was BoSox minor league pitcher of the year in 22.

  5. Rick Hahn has owned the off season. I misunderstood before. This had to be one the interesting trade ideas he was sharing with teams in San Diego.

  6. I’m looking forward to which of our WBC players forget that there is stricter drug testing for that event. It wouldn’t lead to MLB suspension, but would be another embarrassing story.

  10. This is a good move and quite frankly, this is how resources should be used to complete the bullpen.

  11. Plus... what did we give up? If this were headlined as the marquee acquisition of the offseason, yes - time to be mad. For what it is, it's a good move.

  12. Not bad. I initially thought they traded for a German guy

  15. I'm going to go against the grain here, because why not risk pissing off some folks ? I get there were probably some frustrating moments for Jason, and knowing who is in the Sox FO, nor do I doubt it. And I do understand his desire to "diversify his portfolio" and how it even benefits the Sox in some ways. However, if I were the Sox I'd probably be equally as frustrated. They have to go out and find guys that can do the same job on a part-time basis. There's a reason we get people like Beckham filling in. The broadcasters that have talent have actually full-time broadcasting jobs. IMHO, Jason needs to pick something and stick with that. Also, I think it was unprofessional for Jason to speak to reporters about his frustrations regarding the signing process. Talk about it after you leave/retire. Or not at all. Sox aren't the only ones at fault here... this is a 2 way street.

  22. In reality it is a trade that could be a nightmare. Theo was one of those metrics picks. They LOVED his spin rates. Then he had a TJS, so it will be interesting to follow him and see how he comes back.

  27. Straight up, I don't get this for Boston. This looks on paper like a much better deal for the White Sox. Reliever for reliever, except the guy Boston is giving up is younger, was at AAA last year, and was quite a bit more effective. Guy clearly has options remaining, and no obvious reason to think Boston needs a 40 man spot in the next day. This looks like a small but obvious win for the White Sox. Why would Boston do this?

  29. I heard a guy on the radio recently who was a prosecutor for 30 years. Now I remember at the time people saying it was a huge mistake for Alec Baldwin to grant that interview to George Stephanopoulos about the shooting but I did not know why besides the whole idea of just keeping your damn mouth shut. The long time prosecutor said that in the interview Baldwin admitted to all of the elements of involuntary manslaughter in New Mexico. The ex prosecutor said if he was trying the case, he would just show that interview and call the FBI ballistics expert to the stand to testify that the trigger would have had to be pulled for the gun to fire. I guess Baldwin said he did not pull the trigger. Seems kinda harsh and you never know once you get in front of a jury, but Alec Baldwin might want to plea to a lesser charge if he can.

  32. They have to go with Gordon Beckham because Stone gets a good amount of vacation time. The list of good color commentators is not that long, watch any sport and you soon realize how bad they are. Benetti had a option that the club picked up. Benetti is asking the team to make concessions for him to broadcast other games. The White Sox have to fill these gaps and rework Kasper's deal when he moves to television and find replacements that they have to pay. I do not think Benetti can make as much money doing the national stuff to leave but it makes the White Sox position more difficult when he is missing so much. You would think the White Sox would be more accommodating but they are the White Sox. There is a middle ground here in this discussion other than the White Sox fucked up again. I think Benetti stays as there ae more options doing Sox games than other sports in the spring and summer but I think it is worked out much differently. If Jason needs to miss 20 games that is 12% of the season that is not insignificant. What happens if Jason has a FOX game on a Saturday in September and Sox game the following day and his flight is cancelled? There ae logistical aspects to this other than look at the cheap White Sox again.

  33. Which is why I struggle to find optimism for a team that looks worse on paper than the 81 win debacle of last season. Way too many things have to go right while hoping real hard they stay relatively healthy. It’s a tough sell.

  34. And here I thought Brooks was a solid guy. He sucks too. If I have a choice of believing Jason or ANYBODY in the WS organization, I'm going with Jason all day long.

  36. Still crazy to me how the Sox haven’t done a single thing the last month to provide depth if Hendriks is out for the year and/or Clevinger never pitches here. It’s sickening how little they care about contending. Based on how this offseason went, I wish they blew up the whole thing.

  42. I was a season ticket holder from the day they signed Carleton Fisk up until the last day of old Comiskey. When they built the new park and raised prices and moved my seats I did not renew. The salesman that got my account was very abusive and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Since then I’ve sporadically attended games with 2022 being the most games I attended. About 12 to 14. All lower bowl expensive seats seats 3 to 4 tickets per game. Concessions, Parking, spent on average about $300 a game. 2023 will be different. I don’t think I’ll spend that much right now only the “ Hi Mom “ bobble head game is on the calendar. They don’t want to spend and neither will I.

  43. I agree the city will likely (a new mayor may not be as enthusiastic) attempt to sell to the public yet another billionaire handout, with the lapdog Chicago media fully on board. Just looking at the current downtown vacancy rate (21.4% Q4 2022), the end of massive Federal COVID cash subsidies, and the fact that even if the city could secure another tax and bond to fund this latest hand out, if downtown doesn’t rebound, the Sox will prefer to shakedown taxpayers elsewhere. The city dodged a big bullet when Daley finished in dead last in the 2016 Olympic bidding. All future stadiums should follow the United Center model, which has worked out for both owners.

  44. I hope this guy never throws a pitch for the Sox. And honestly, I don't care if guys "do worse things in other sports" and get a chance to play again. I don't want them to get that chance either.

  45. I mean, ok? 10 figures is a pittance considering the AH Stadium is $3 billion plus. The City is offering what it thinks the economic benefit the Bears provide is. The Bears want a $1 billion renovation. Now you can go back to watching Tucker/Fox having learned something. Happy to help Indiana man
