Great point. Mob justice is preferable to due process, as history has shown time and again3 points

I don't think so considering he had a 4.8 ERA in AA last year (BHam is also a pitchers park fwiw) and was drafted in '21. I follow league wide prospects *very* closely and Burke stands out as a huge outlier to me in terms of how aggressive the Sox are pushing him.2 points

9 groundouts, 1 walk, 1 strikeout for the regular lineup in 5 innings2 points

No other org in baseball would have Sean Burke as their 7th starter so quickly. It's what the Sox do.2 points

Burger DH and Eloy RF is totally going to be a thing for a couple of weeks isn’t it?2 points

Yes, making the playoffs is a big deal. Yes, it should be celebrated, commensurate with its acheivement - you're in the top 20% of teams. Great. Good for the White Sox that they are in the upper tier. Here's the problem though: we haven't been sold the line that this is a contending team with budget constraints that will compete in the playoffs and may or may not win. We've been sold the line that this is a "multiple championship" window of contention - which is complete bullshit given the way the White Sox have run their budget with their eyes wide open to how the rest of the league wins. They sold us this line expecting every good prospect to hit the top of their projections and stay healthy, and as usual they have not complimented their team with high flying FA in the prime of their career who can delver 6-8 WAR on demand. Because the White Sox are cheapskates. That the system is broken and only rewards the big spending teams willing to take luxury tax hits and disregard budget constraints is an unfortunate reality, but it's been an unfortunate reality for 3 decades now since the Yankees started buying championships and the Red Sox and Cardinals followed suit. You want to win in this league? Stop wringing your hands over "the largest contract ever offered by the Sox" and wonder why we aren't dumping $300 million on the pavement and actually trying to win. It would be nice if for once in my lifetime I could say that the White Sox wasted a ton of money compared to all other teams in an effort to actually win.2 points

Arizona is awesome. It's my favorite state to visit. Been there like 4 times now. Definitely recommend spending 1-2 days in Sedona, especially if you're in to hiking (plenty of easy trails with paths for all ages). We also spent a day at the Grand Canyon and 2 days in Page, going to see Horseshoe Bend and ATTEMPTED to go see Antelope Canyon, but it was still closed due to Covid. Since Antelope Canyon was closed, we drove about an hour into Utah and went to Buckskin Gulch instead. Jerome, AZ is also a funky little ghost town to go see. Well, it USED to be a ghost town but now it's a tourist town. It's up on a mountain. Look up some YouTube videos, it's unique. We also visited Sunset Crater in Flagstaff, which used to be a volcano. It's black rock and black sand from volcanic ash. I took my drone to all of these places and got some really cool footage. It was my favorite trip we've taken and I can't wait to go back.2 points

Was kinda my guess. Glad to see Pedro say that. And the quote from the poster was, unsurprisingly, delivered with an enormous lack of context.2 points

You don't know that though. Their investigation is still ongoing. They could still hand him a 162 game suspension tonight. Now I don't think that will happen and they should have already made a judgement, but they have not taken a position yet. To anyone who has used critical thinking in this situation, there is not a lot of evidence that Clevinger was looking at a big suspension. In DV cases that the MLB has deemed serious, they have acted quickly to put players on administrative leave. In DV cases that were significant enough to involved law enforcement, there has been swift judgements made with the clarity from the law enforcement involvement. In Clevinger's case, he was put under investigation and subsequently finished his season without interruption. He has already played half a season under this investigation and it took a month or so after the investigation to become public for people to seem to understand that. There really isn't a comparable case with MLB handling an investigation like Clevinger's. At some point, they have to realize, this happened in the "summer" and it is a "he said, she said" situation that you would think has no further evidence coming forward. I am guessing the hold up is the MLB is hoping some more information comes out against Clevinger so they can punish him and be held in the high graces of social media. If they don't have enough/sufficient evidence to punish Clevinger, they are concerned with the backlash they will get for not punishing him. It's really a microcosm of the nasty world that is social media. The people watching this case on social media are not concerned with right or wrong or the facts of the matter, they just want scalps. They want to call Clevinger or the Sox or the MLB names to show how moral and great they are as people by putting down others. For the folks who aren't concerned with proving their moral greatness to a few hundred followers on Twitter, the following of this is just being a Sox/baseball fan. And for those folks, it's just about the facts of the matter. And the facts bode well Clevinger whether he's a POS or not. And I tend to think he probably is a POS. I just don't think the facts of the matter that are out there at this point give credence to the idea that this investigation will lead to a lengthy suspension if any.2 points

This makes sense. The White Sox can have a big year and win their division, maybe even advance in the playoffs. Or they could be mediocre again. They're that hard to predict.1 point

I would guess most teams have a better “close to the majors” pitching prospect than the Sox do.1 point

These were the years I started learning about the game courtesy of Jack Brickhouse and Ernie Harwell. Nicholson was worse than Daniel Palka. The Sox had everything but hitting and usually beat the Tigers who had hitting and not much else. At age 9 I understood that Nicholson was barely a one-tool guy. Dave Kingman lite.1 point

That’s what I’m wondering. Eloy playing more RF and Burger getting ABs every game. At what point does that become a sign they are really high on Burger’s power/bat, so much so that Colas is pushed aside a bit?1 point

Sox announcing that Colson is playing tomorrow but also not allowing us to watch it has some big "free frogurt, but the frogurt is also haunted" energy.1 point

And let’s be honest, the 162 game path to get there is a lot more exciting when in contention1 point

When the Sox got knocked out by Houston two years ago, I still enjoyed the s%*# out of that series. The Sunday night game was awesome, and I wasn’t even there. Had some friends over to watch in my basement, and it was so fun. Then I went to the game on Tuesday when we got slaughtered and eliminated, and even that was a great memory. Waking up all jacked, taking the train down there with a buddy, going crazy when Rodon got out of the bases loaded jam and then when Sheets went deep for a 1-0 lead. Sure, the outcome sucked, but I would love another experience like that.1 point

Let's hope. If the pitchers continue with max effort throwing with decreased recovery between pitchers it could make them worse.1 point

A great improvement. Let's see if there are any unintentional consequences with injuries. Hopefully it leads to better pitching and less continual max effort throwing.1 point
