There are some real problems with some posters here. Hopefully Eloy has a safe and successful rehab8 points

Most embarrassing play since...well, most of last season. But just emblematic of entire organization collapsing across the board... like that Gordon Beckham drop tumbling over the mound with Harrelson practically losing it on air. Kopech... a pitcher... the ONLY player to do the right thing there on the entire infield. Running the base runner away from the next base and towards the bag, in this case, second. Almost no pride remaining. Somehow Kopech didn't completely implode into a crooked number... but just wow.5 points

Anderson, Jimenez, Robert, and Moncada, the centerpieces of the rebuild in the daily lineup, have all played in the same game together just 34 times over the White Sox's last 347 games, since the start of the 2021 season5 points

Worst Record in Baseball, so many problems with this roster. Cardinals have 2 more wins and 22% going to playoffs vs Sox with 0.4%. They need to trade off anyone that can turn it around by deadline for anything. Fire all the scouts first so we have an opportunity for a decent return4 points

I saw the video and it told us a lot, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is the problem and even a cancer on the team. I’m not sure about Jose being that much of a leader, if he was he sure didn’t help much last year or thought that things were too much out of control and not fixable thus his move to the Astros, based on what we have seen this year, he wouldn’t be wrong.4 points

You just need to watch the video from last year when they announced Anderson was an all star. Nobody cares. He’s probably a self absorbed jerk in the dugout, based on some other questionable off the field behavior. He’s not a leader as some claim. It’s obvious his teammates are at best neutral on him. The only leader they had is now in Houston. Also, at point you have to start questioning if the talent is there if it never comes to fruition.4 points

This all started under TLR, something went on that I guess we will never know the true story but it’s plain to see that something is amiss. My second favorite team as I live in Florida and watch most of their games are the Rays and the differences between the teams and the franchises are so far off it’s not even funny. The Rays bust their asses on every play while Sox players jog on ground balls and look like a bunch of losers and mopes. Rays players when they are called up from the minors are MLB ready while our guys like Colas and Sosa for some reason just can’t hack it. We all know that the White Sox farm system in recent years has been a joke and a failure, all part of Reinsdorf’s policy of refusing to spend big money on potential. The trouble is he won’t spend big money on bringing in the best free agents possible, instead we get Andrew Benintendi who I actually like but he would been more at home on the 50s and 60s White Sox. I really thought bringing in a new manager would change the mindset of these guys but it hasn’t, there is either some dissension still going on or we have weak minded players who just don’t give a f*** as they are getting paid big bucks whether they are 20 games over or 20 games under .500. Still a long way to go in the season but good teams would have won the Thursday game against the Twins or last nights game with the Reds.4 points

Bob Nightengale (JR's personal mouthpiece) is reporting that if the Sox don't get back into the race they will be looking to move players at the deadline but regardless of if they get back into it or not, if they don't trade him, they have already decided not to bring Lucas Giolito back after this season. Giolito will be a free agent after the season and if Nightengale is to be believed, no negotiations will be taking place to see if a new deal can be reached.3 points

Here's what I don't get. Sox have a big lead yet Grifol burns through three pitchers to finish the game only letting them go an inning each. What? One of these stiffs couldn't go two innings, saving a guy? I mean they don't have a day off until May 15. Makes no sense.3 points

The A's and Royals have better records than the Sox? or am I missing something here?3 points

That would be cool if Bobby Miller wound up with the Sox, he was a great pitcher up in McHenry but more important to me is that he is the grandson of my best friend growing up in Rogers Park, unfortunately he never got to see Bobby pitch as he had a bad time in Vietnam and came back a mess with PTSD and other problems and died about 20 years ago.3 points

Nice of them to broadcast their cost cutting intentions early. Zero surprise though. Gio, Lynn, & TA are as good as gone. Get ready for the deck chair shuffling return to middling mediocrity.3 points

Once there was a lockout, there was no chance Lucas would be a White Sox past 2023. Check JRs history with player reps, especially those during tough labor times, and going further, those that aren’t afraid to speak up.3 points

Reinsdorf has never liked the media, and, like many public figures, has been treated unfairly by the press at times. But many of his troubles are self-inflicted. These recent quotes are a recent example.3 points

Thread Prompted by @Chimpton quoted post, It's the field here, unless you are talking football. There are load management legitimate reasons why only 3 of the 4 would start if you are trying to rotate (though DH would be the best to rotate if the roster wasn't so defensively limited). However, the vast majority of games the four haven't appeared has been due to one or more IL stints. Tim Anderson played the least number of games in two of the three completed seasons, Yoan Moncada has played the most games in two of the three seasons. Games the "Core Four" have started (2020 - YTD 2023): 2020 (63 Games: 21-11) Luis Robert Jr. 58 CF; Eloy Jimenez 54 LF & 2 DH; Yoan Moncada 54 3B; Tim Anderson 52 SS. July: 24 L 25 W 29 W 31. It's typical that the 'core" group Anderson, Burger, Jimenez, Moncada and Robert simply can not stay healthy for whatever reason or reasons. They aren't trying to get hurt, let's be clear, but the fact is and this has been shown over the past several seasons they simply can not be counted on to play a majority of the season. The Sox need to admit defeat, move them for whatever they can if possible come July. (And yes I know the front office is incompetent. That's the position the Sox are in...between a rock and a hard place.3 points

See you in 2024, Eloy, for another 40-60 games.3 points

Sox are fucking morons for bringing up Perez instead of Colas who is hitting .435 with 5 doubles since being sent down. Sheets meanwhile is 5 for his last 30...all singles lmao. Such a damn disgrace. That said its Kopech Day and time for him to flame on!!!2 points

Yes you’re right about Abreu. I question whether adults really need teammates to be “leaders”. But a guy like Anderson can certainly be a cancer. I think you’re closer to being correct than being off base.2 points

May 7, 2023 - White Sox fans have become so apathetic about the team, a game thread was not created for the first time in Soxtalk history. (Less than an hour until gametime, I swore off creating new threads until the Sox have a new GM and perhaps new Owner. Regime Change Begins at Home).2 points

Since 2000, the only time the Sox seem to assemble a winning pitching group is when the scrap heap guys or longshot picks they get for their rotation actually work out, or when longtime mediocre pitchers have a fluke good year or half year. It literally never seems to be FA acquisitions with proven high quality ML talent.2 points

It does seem like the Bataan death march around here. I'm turning 61 in 3 weeks. If I get my wish, JR sells the team to Mark Cuban.2 points

Last Dance was on ESPN this morning and caught the part where they were talking about the transition summer after ring five... Considering a rebuild during a championship run and letting the front office create a rift with the team that made you what you are. No more case and point of what a total dipshit douchebag Jerry Reinsdorf is. Best line that came to mind is imagining JR saying to the worst GM in sports history, "I know Jerry Krause and believe me Rick, you're no Jerry Krause" Can't be gone soon enough...2 points

Besides all the other disappointing and underachieving players on this team, probably the worst drop off on this team is Tim Anderson. He doesn't seem to be motivated and he surely isn't playing with any passion, as the so called "Face of the Franchise!" He isn't hitting, getting on base and definitely is playing dumb baseball. What happened to that guy who could spray singles and doubles to all fields, as well have some power for home runs? The last three games: 1-12 - one single, 5 K's, 5 Groundouts (one DP), one flyout. Look at the drop-off since his breakout year in 2019 when he won the AL batting title. Season GP HR BA OBP SLG OPS WAR 2019 123 18 .335 .357 .508 .865 4.0 2020 49 10 .322 .357 .529 .886 2.2 (60 game season) 2021 123 17 .309 .338 .469 .806 4.6 2022 79 6 .301 .339 .395 .734 1.3 2023 16 0 .269 .310 .343 .653 0.0 There are many reasons we can debate why he is declining, but the bottom line is, he is 29 years old and turning 30 in June. It's time to move on and hope we can get some decent value for him. There should be some team that will value TA. It will be one of those successful organizations we always talk about, that are fully confident they have the proven coaching, leadership and quality baseball processes, to change his attitude and correct whatever mental and physical hitting flaws he has developed. Obviously we don't have that coaching or leadership to change him, so let someone else try.2 points

Some guys really are cursed. It's just about time to back up the truck on this whole bunch of bananas. Including Andrew Vaughn. P.S. Take the front office with you.2 points

That is shocking! So in only 10% of games the 'core' of the rebuild have played together. That stat on its own goes a long way to explaining why this rebuild has been a bust, and you then factor in the impact all those injuries have on consistency. The fact that any replacements for them are bad due to Hahn's squad building skills and you get the White Sox team we have had to suffer!2 points
-
First and foremost I hope he'll be ok. That being said, this team missed an enormous chance to trade him over the off-season. He actually had a very good second half and it was probably the highest trade value since his rookie season. There's always going to be some freak injury or accident with this guy, just how it is. I said at the beginning of the season, "Is there anyway the quartet of Anderson, Moncada, Jimenez, and Robert play a combined 500 games?' That answer is hell no and 400 isn't looking great either.2 points
