  1. Should've won Saturday, Sunday and today

  2. The Sox botching Hendriks and Crochet’s rehab is so damn predictable. Truly the dumbest organization imaginable.

  3. happy for Andrew. He wanted to be here, he's playing thru a hand injury, he's fine in the outfield and has more or less given professional at bats all year long

  4. Jake Burger continues to be one of the most impressive baseball stories of my life time. I can only imagine where Jake would be if he didn't miss out on almost 400! Games of minor league play/development. Baseball is a game of reps at the end of the day. He missed a ton of those. The next step and evolution for him is plate discipline and strike zone command, something he likely would have acquired and fine tuned at the minor league level. At the risk of sounding like Hawk Harrelson talking about Matt Stairs, Burger is just a professional hitter. He's a masher. I'm beyond elated to see what the next few years look like for Burger.

  5. Just going off of data in terms of typical TJ recovery times and how the Sox do a poor job managing injuries and rehab: He is coming off of April 2022 Tommy John surgery. The Sox planned a half ass spring training / rehab assignment (6 IP, 5 ER decreased velocity) as they did for Liam (5 IP, 6 ER, decreased velocity). Have done the same with position players Yoan, Tim, Grandal, Robert, Eloy and others the past few seasons. He should be rehabbing in Charlotte or Arizona now, either stretching out to be a starter or working in relief, but the Sox have zero depth. Pitchers usually fully recover up to 18 months after Tommy John, so up to 5 months from now. Tommy John surgery is effective 80% of the time, so perhaps Garrett will be one of the 20% who do not improve / worsen post surgery.

  6. Alright folks games over and we lost. Save your gripin for tomorrow’s game. That is all

  7. Eloy was also trying to hit a 3 run homer instead of going to right field when it was obvious a sweeper was coming

  9. Best decisions Hahn makes are ones totally out of his control...like Pollock leaving for less money.

  10. Never thought I’d see the day where not 1 but 2 Sox players with more plate appearances without a Hr than Nick Madrigal..

  12. Yesterday really hurt. IDK why I am even going to watch. Should of had 2/3 in LA.

  13. Yeah, his fastball has little movement and the loss of velo makes it very hittable. His secondary pitches aren’t very good either. I just don’t see how anyone can expect the dude to be a starter in the future when he’s never thrown over 70 innings in college or the pros.

  14. some more illustrations on display on how fucking dumb of a team we have. Eloy swings at 4 pitches out of the strike zone in a key spot... Burger gets up and the guy is throwing nothing but fastballs and two right down the middle.. burger doesnt swing... then swings at a pitch out of the zone... Its remarkable the level of dumb

  15. Not enough offense, overworked pitching staff, no execution in extra innings and the dam finally broke in extras. 1-2 on the trip against a meh Dodgers team. Seattle is another meh team up next. 3-3 on the trip would be ideal at this point. They might be sellers after the next couple of weeks.

  16. Nothing will change until they clean house and change the culture. Top to bottom - whole sale changes. Nutrition, coaching, analytics, high standards and expectations, etc. top to bottom.

  17. Why is Eloy moving his back foot away from the plate. During his swing, his back leg moves towards 3rd base. How the f*** are you going to hit a slider when you are bailing away with your back foot.

  20. This human being is an 87 year old billionaire who has lived one of the most luxurious of lives known to man. I don't wish death on him personally but i wouldnt give a s%*# if he choked on a pretzel tomorrow. In fact I would probably pop open a bottle of champagne. Call me a disturbed individual I don't care.

  21. I do think TV market size stops driving as much of this. I think baseball is eventually going to obtain all distribution rights and sell streaming services direct to consumer and via cable provider - eliminating local blackouts. This will eventually lead to a change in profit sharing and the way money is distributed between teams. That's probably still a decade+ off, but I think local TV market might play a smaller role than previously. That said, sox draw 3 million fans when competitive, rank top 5-8 in merch sales and etc. They're not moving.

  22. Another clown show game. The deadline can't get here fast enough it's just too bad the bums you want off this team the most are immovable.

  23. If The Sox move I have no reason to follow baseball anymore.... The Sox even tho bad is the only thing keeping me attached to Baseball. Funny when I was younger I couldn't imagine being without it. Now I just don't care enough. Maybe something is wrong with me, but I just don't feel that passion or fire anymore. Maybe it's what it's become. Maybe bad media. Whatever......

  24. Agree. Singles have become like the 2 point shot in basketball…few practitioners. In basketballs is bombs away with 3 pt shot and in baseball swing for the fences analogous to the 3 pointer.

  25. Well, to be honest, that is more like the game I expect to see when I stay up late for a West Coast contest....blow a lead and get walked off. Seen that more times than I care to remember.

  26. It’s why he’s blowing his one and only chance as a MLB manager. Getting blasted by Nightengale this week illustrates how poorly he’s thought of.

  27. That ball was uncatchable as he was playing shallow. Even if he catches it would have been a sacrifice fly.

  29. Lead 4-0; lose 5-4. Comments: Poor Cease. Poor hitting coach. Ridiculous failure after failure after Sox got their fourth run. Conclusion: Sox coaches/front office afraid to actually coach their hitters, convince them that "at times" the TEAM needs situational baseball. Not swinging for the fences on cutters out of the zone. Pathetic. Bullpen was OK but Crochet had no chance. I look for him on the DL soon. Tonight's game: F for failure. 4-0 lead and total crap after that.

  45. All the good markets are gone. Vegas TV market is 40th, below Milwaukee, the lowest current MLB market. They won't have the same fanbase for an 81 game schedule as they do for the 10 Raiders games or 40 NHL games in a 1/3 smaller arena. This was pure and simple a scam for billionaires and bribed politicians to steal a half billion from taxpayers. Nashville (27) and possibly Charlotte (21) are the final markets anyone wants, and both will either be pawned off for a billion plus expansion fee, with Baltimore possibly fleeing their dead metropolis for Nashville. Portland (22) is one of the few cities to repeatedly say go f*** yourself to billionaires looking for welfare handouts. Canada doesn't play the welfare game with billionaires for free stadiums, so Montreal's TV Corp will have to build their own stadium. Either the territory is already controlled by another team, or nobody wants The MLB in Orlando (17), Sacramento (20), Raleigh-Durham (23), Indianapolis (25), Salt Lake City (29), San Antonio (31), Columbus (32), Hartford (34), Austin (35), Greenville-Spartanburg (37) and West Palm Beach (39). There certainly are not any "Brooklyn Dodgers" scenarios, save if baseball expanded to Tokyo and perhaps a couple more Japanese cities, and possibly Mexico City might be worth something despite the lower per capita income.

  47. Just some additional insight. I have a good friend who is on another Board with one of the White Sox Board members, they have a good relationship. The Sox Board member's comments to my friend: - All of the Sox Board members roles are more "ceremonial" in nature- they do not make decisions and rarely give input on the direction of the team / strategy- they are essentially silent partners. - Jerry has unilateral authority. He runs the Sox like a "business / Corporation" and he is very mindful of providing profitable shareholder returns to his investor group. - The Board is primarily composed of Jerry's long term friends and business associates- they are a very "mature" group of men. There does not appear to be any formal Board succession plan. - Jerry has first right of refusal on any shares being sold and has always purchased the shares for those who wanted to redeem. Although Jerry has increased his shares over the last 40 years he still does not have majority ownership. He will not sell the Sox in his lifetime because of the huge capital gains taxes that would need to be paid by his estate. - Advancing age, the loss of Jerry's wife and son all have taken their toll on Jerry as one would expect. Perception is that he doesn't have the drive or "stomach" for replacing the leadership team, although rumors are Kenny is near retirement. So essentially we are in a stalemate situation. No real surprise here, just extreme frustration.

  48. No one would move the team out of the 3rd biggest market. The only solution is him selling the team or dying
    2 points
  49. Move the team? No one is asking for that… Jerry will be dead soon. Unless anyone on this board is pushing 90, it’s a waiting game for this nightmare to end.
