  1. Only four more years of watching Benintendi hit lazy fly balls to LF

  2. Yep. And he honestly might be a positive influence for the clubhouse. But what is really worrisome to me is what the Sox will give up for him. No chance in hell Jerry takes on that contract, which leaves Getz with the only other option of trading valuable assets to get salary relief.

  3. Jerry Reinsdorf called Harry Caray scum. Chicago went from a 50-50 Sox Cubs split to 67 Cubs - 33 Sox over the next four decades. Harry has a statue at Wrigley Field whereas if the White Sox had DeBartolo that statue would be at 35th and Shields after decades of service. Pretty sure Harry Caray wasn’t scum, but there were two Brooklyn Dodger carpetbaggers who fit the bill.

  4. Harry was so popular in Chicago he might have been the spark some of the Sox needed to wake up and play to their potential. He would have been relentlessly bashing them and those players would have heard it from the fans too. Harry would have destroyed Moncada and TA and would have wondered aloud many times about all the injuries from running,

  5. Harry and Jimmy would have raked TA over the coals and it would have been well deserved, no one has called out anybody on this team and someone should have. I know we here at Soxtalk have spent countless hours analyzing the horrific play of the 2023 White Sox but damn it’s unbelievable that this team can be this bad, day after day we are seeing stuff that I didn’t think we would ever see from a Major League team.

  6. Now at .310/.889 since joining the Marlins. 12 doubles and 8 home runs in 44 games played. I like him so much. Still root for him.

  8. One aging and declining vet C contract goes out, one aging and declining vet C contract must come in. What an idiotic decision this would be.

  10. I’d go with your first 3 but send Eloy packing, he’s not even a good DH and can’t play the outfield, Kopech Is a head case and should be traded, let some other team put up with his issues. I also think Benintendi will bounce back next year with a a healthy wrist, I’ve had golf related wrist injuries and they take quite a time to heal. Back to DH, I like how the Rays rotate just about the whole lineup with athletic type players at DH, of course they all can hit. That is the model the Sox should be looking at and I like what Getz said a couple weeks ago about the Sox needing to be more athletic which also means faster.

  11. Always has his finger on the pulse of the conversation haha

  12. Not to derail the conversation and stir up the masses, but I think Harry changed a bit and became even more of a jerk toward the tail end of his Sox tenure. I realize he was huge when he got to Chicago being the famous voice of the Cards and had a name and ego before he got to the south side but me thinks he got worse in the ego department in Chitown where he was the mayor of Rush Street. My dad's partner at the Board of Trade was one of many of the Sox ownership group until he died and my dad had occasion to be around Harry a lot postgame in the Bard's Room. Back in the day for worse more than better people drank their butts off after games even if they had to drive. There was little concern about repercussions of driving while bombed. I guess Harry was hard to tolerate after a certain amount of drinks/beers/whatever. Not trying to disparage Harry. I loved the guy. I remember my friends and I would send a note up to Harry during games (remember he'd read on the air you were at the game if u sent up a note) and he'd announce we were there. People actually would notice if Harry read your name and tell me they heard I was at the game and it was neat of him to read fans notes on the air. We did it like clockwork. My dad had season tix in the fifth row and would give me four tickets as he sat somewhere else with his partner and I'd go with 3 friends. Before getting seated we'd always have the guard send our note up to Harry with a little line or joke on there. "Falstaff forever" or "We love Zisk" on there or something. He'd read those messages on the air. That was Harry. The fan broadcaster. Any how my dad ultimately followed the lead of JR and the minority owners who despised Harry at the end. My dad would simply say 'what a jerk' when I'd quiz him on Harry. As a fan though I never wavered. I loved him. I remember one rain delay he and Jimmy tore the Sox apart while killing time. It was brutal. Harry would have attacked this team big time. Rest in peace Harry you shoulda been a Sox announcer forever like Hawk.

  14. I was thinking the other day, Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall would have ate TA alive this season. Was Kopech injured, or just "the opener" today?

  15. Ugly game so far with Anderson and Moncada making errors. Nats up 4-1. Please trade TA in the off-season. Will this season ever end.

  17. The Sox need an everyday player leader.. A pitcher can't be that. ESPECIALLY a bullpen guy

  22. I applaud Getz for hiring a real staff around him, from different organizations across baseball. And Banninster and Barfield seem to have a somewhat "current" approach to baseball which we should all appreciate. A decent first step

  23. Hiring someone from outside the organization that seemingly has shown success in what they do? I don't understand.

  24. Don't forget Bassitt and Semien for one year of Shark. Sosa/Bell Todd Ritchie for Wells/Fogg/Lowe Nick Swisher trade

  25. Starting pitching always. If you find gems there they can outperform their contracts by a wider margin the way Rodon did when the Sox signed him for $3M. You scoop up guys like Toussaint and Urena both of whom haven't look terrible and build depth and if they continue to be inconsistent well maybe now you have a BP arm.

  26. Kenny really went out on a high note didn't he?

  27. He came from the Cub's farm system. The DH wasn't in the NL yet so I have to wonder would he have been traded. Sox are pretty bad at reducing players deficiencies. Sometimes I think they enhance them.

  29. This has been broken record stuff, but like, I just don't see why this is that big of a deal? I don't see talent going out being impactful, I don't see the salary coming back to be the full amt. I don't think Salvy will make this team a contender, but who cares. If he was that big of a help to a young pitching staff, well we see the limits of that in KC. Well, I guess I should backtrack. In deals the sox have telegraphed for a year plus, we have paid embarrassing sums. But otherwise I don't think this is the worst thing we'll do this offseason.

  33. Probably not. Maybe the Rays could. At some point you have to realize a player is not good at baseball. I'd be really impressed with this organization if they get rid of Katz.

  34. Barfield is replacing Getz. Bannister replaces Tedford. I don’t know who the Sox director of pro scouting is, but whoever that is sucks, so it is at worst a lateral move.

  37. Here is the current White Sox front office. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/team/front-office Jeremy Haber is currently listed as the assistant GM. They could certainly expand their staff and have more than one of those, but most likely he is being specifically replaced or moved to another position. The roles for the other two could be in n place of several different people, or again they could expand their staff.

  38. One of the first red flags of the rebuild for me. Thinking we’d had a highly rated or large class after 2 years in the penalty only to find they basically had no one signed and threw all the money at a guy whose stats were bad in Cuba. I will say he had more offense than o expected, which was none.

  43. July was a bad month for the Old Administration. They drafted Gonzalez and traded Burger for nothing.

  44. This is complete bullshit. Getz had no obligation to praise Vizquel when he knew the exact reasons they fired him. Same with the Chicago Hockey Team which aided and abetted serial child rapist Brad Aldrich, not reporting the rape of their player to the CPD, recommending Aldrich for jobs working with children, and then conducting a sham internal investigation exonerating the owner. The same owner who served on the Board of Trustees at Northwestern while rampant sexual and racist abuse was taking place for decades. Thankfully Jerry Reinsdorf’s BFF Rocky Wirtz is no longer in a position to enable the destruction of the lives of countless children and young adults across the Chicago area and beyond. Sadly, Chris Getz remains in a position of authority to hire additional more people like Vizquel and Helms into positions of authority, and vile players like Clevinger into the organization. It’s the Reinsdorf way.
