I don't understand the rationale behind signing Dejong and trading for Lopez and NOT giving a legit tryout to Sosa or Rodriguez.. Like... We KNOW DeJong and Lopez are garbage, let's see if either of our guys can be just as garbage.. but cheaper.7 points

No, he’s going to fall off a cliff and be out of baseball next year. It’s an awful signing by an awful org.7 points

I had lunch with Jerry recently and he told me that you cannot spend a quarter when you are only bringing in a nickel....then he slid the lunch check over to me.5 points

I was told today that nothing close on Whit Merrifield. Harold says he’s a target but those talks aren’t active.4 points

I would rather the young guys get a shot again to see if anyone can be a contributor down the road. Let Popeye play 2B and Lopez at SS, IMO.4 points

Because he makes money on this team without lifting a fucking finger and he doesn’t care4 points

He was 6.4 in this org. Once pitchers have shown the kind of dominance Cease has, they tend to retain value. People kept taking shots at Shelby miller after he was absolute garbage. Or Lance Lynn getting $10 million. Pitchers are volatile, Cease is available and has great stuff. That’s valuable beyond any immediate recent results.4 points

Getz collecting middle infielders. In DeJongs last 94 at bats, he had to have been the worst major leaguer hitter ever....ever.3 points

Not sure if the Getz comments are tongue in cheek, but I’m pretty happy with the moves and comments so far. Obviously the Sox aren’t winning a ton of games in 2024, and DeJong could be here for a very short time, but at least they’re trying to bring in big leaguers that can help the roster. They aren’t going down the Colas route at multiple positions, and that’s a good thing. The Hahn/Williams rebuild is done. It failed. Now it’s Getz’s turn to try, like it or not. We’ll see if the team is good in 25 and 26.3 points

2 months of a struggling Giolito returned a backend top 100 prospect. The logic that Cease returns a similar headliner is just having blinders on.3 points

What if we proposed a Kopech for Manoah swap? I think what will be said is "they will get something good for Manoah" and I suppose that is true. But what I'm presupposing is, maybe it's not? White Sox Acquire Alek Manoah, Cavan Biggio Toronto Blue Jays Acquire Michael Kopech, Gregory Santos, Ky Bush These are the things a rebuild is made of.2 points

There is no reason to burn the clock on Montgomery’s service clock immediately on a pretty much punted season. Let him get ready in AAA. If DeJong stinks, DFA. If DeJong turns it around, trade him for a flier. This is a zero risk 1 year stop gap at SS. Getz is making the right plays so far.2 points
-
It doesn’t. If the White Sox have a top 6 pick this year and they finish with the worst record in baseball next year, they’ll have the 11th pick in round one in 2025 and the #1 pick in every other round2 points

Manoah is a lazy blimp. I’d pass hard on him.2 points

The thing is, Lopez and Dejong feel a lot like Elvis, Harrison, Rollins, Lawrie, Eaton (round 2), Pollock, etc. And I have no faith in Mr. "Vets Don't Need Accountability" to actually play any young players over guys hovering at the Mendoza line.2 points

I hate this. I hate where we are as an organization. BUT, I will wait to let the entire off season payout before I decide im not going to any games or spending any of my money on this team and organization.2 points

If Dejong can give Montgomery any tips or lead way with the glove then I'm game. But man he's going to play too much... and man it's going to be bad with the bat. At least the pitchers will be happier this year.2 points
-
I get that, but on the other hand, Dejong and Lopez suck so much that if Sosa or JRod show any pulse in AAA, they'll have spots readily available. Its not like DFAing DeJong and moving Lopez to a bench role is beyond the realm of possibility. I don't mind not just handing Sosa / Jrod the jobs. That said, this is all so disheartening.2 points

Why can't we just go with our young guys? What is the purpose of signing a declining vet who has been awful2 points

It is not tongue in cheek, he is 35 years old. He has played 4 straight years of below average offense. His power has regressed to a near .100 iso. His krate has increased the last 3 years. What it would look like if he starts becoming .05 slower to first, or if his bat speed slows down and his discipline falters, is he becomes an unplayable ball player because his hard hit rate is in the 2 percentile. He got to 1.5 WAR by playing a lot. It is nice to prevent the other god awful players from playing, but if he regresses the way it would be extremely likely for a 35 year old player who doesn't walk and relies to on speed to do, it is a waste.2 points

There is a market for Eloy but won’t shake out til Teoscar Hernandez and Jorge Soler sign2 points

Shocker. This just in: noone wants to see a s%*# product out on the field. It’s funny how most say the thing that generates revenue is the TV deals and advertising yet the Sox love to continuously complain about attendance numbers, yet do nothing to put a competitive team on the field.2 points

I absolutely believe he has such contempt for the fan base after they s%*# on his bff Tony2 points

and after next year, we will hear payroll has to be cut because no one in their right mind will want to watch the 2024 Sox play2 points
-
The fun thing is, if Cease had repeated 2022, we'd be talking about a godfather package His down year — that still had a 3.7 WAR, 33 starts, 214 strikeouts, and 3.7 FIP — is gonna get a random considering he still has two year's control and pedigree.2 points

I think I had the first actual trade for outman trades. First was before 2022, where I was hoping Kimberly could land Jacob Amaya and Outman + salary relief. Outman had just started to show off power that year and seemed blocked. Last year I had him moving in a package for Hendriks, I think. But as you said it was predicated on the early rumors of them going after Judge and other top OFers. Once they truly had an of that included trace thompson it seemed unlikely.1 point
-
Lol....dude no one is going to trade for that salary regardless of what he says. Best thing you can hope for is Yoyo has a strong first half, gets moved at the deadline for something and Ramos or Montgomery seamlessly fits in at 3rd.1 point

I love Rushing... But dealing our 2 best trade chips the last 2 years for Catchers (Quero then Rushing) would be extremely underwhelming..1 point
