I like feisty Caulfield. Brings an edge we haven’t seen on this board since Peavy44.9 points
-
I get the reference, but unless he has more value than reported, the Sox should keep Eloy and hope he goes nuts and improves his trade value. Trading him for scraps to save ten million, just to turn around and play Sheets more, would be disheartening.6 points

Sorry Caulfield but keep your grudges out of titles that s%*# was ridiculous5 points

This is aggravating, more because it's not against the rules. The Dodgers found a way to sign a guy for a record contract and then pay him a tiny fraction of that contract for 10 years, which allows them to go out and sign more top talent. Ohtani doesn't care because he's making $50 million a year off the field, and he knows he is set for life with $68 million a year for 10 years, starting when he's 39 years old. There's already enough disparity between teams like the Dodgers and Yankees and teams like the Pirates and A's. Deals like this are going to cause more tanking and less spending by more teams. This is not good for a sport that is already losing a fan base.5 points

We’re all sweating this out, refreshing X, searching far and wide for any sort of rumors on Cease or any other player but we all know it’s gonna be radio silence until we get a notification from the White Sox X/Twitter account directly breaking the news that they’ve traded Dylan Cease.4 points

Holding out for the right offer is the right thing to do in this situation but man this waiting period is frustrating.4 points

Pepiot was Top 100 before he graduated. So Glasnow with 25m salary, injury history and one year of control got a Top 100. I was told Cease isn't going to get dick tho...3 points

Lux has over 1000 PA’s with 2021 Leury to show for it. I’ll take my chances with upside elsewhere.3 points

Yeah this is what I wanted but figured it would come in the form of Austin Hedges, who just signed for $4M yesterday. I like this better.3 points

I'm jealous of their organization. They might be one of the few Chicago teams that is trying to do something right. They don't have an owner that is so out of touch with baseball reality.3 points

Teams are mostly around the salary cap, milwaukee and denver have the best players in the world. No idea what you are talking about.3 points

I love an ownership trying to win. And it's funny because even though they have the massive payroll and they've continuously added superstars year-in and year-out, the only ones they've signed as free agents are Freeman and Ohtani.2 points

It shouldn’t take a manager or anyone else to get a professional baseball player being paid millions to give their best.2 points

It’s just so pathetic they can’t find a manager that brings the best (or even not the worst) out of players2 points

The MLB playoffs are a complete crap shoot. The NBA has less perceived parity because stars dominate the sport and one man can impact so much. The NFL is similar with the QB position -- great QB's are going to be in the hunt. Difference is, great QB's are everywhere, and great players in the NBA are everywhere. Baseball parity problems are different. The MLB is a lot like a college sport in that the same sets of teams are typically challenging every year but they can cycle and have a couple years where their young guys come together at the right time and they're good for 2-3 years before falling off into rebuild oblivion for another 8 years. The cycle between competitive/not-competitive is much more dramatic IMO because one player isn't going to change the tied via a draft, and if you don't spend it's your only way out so it's going to take time.2 points

Is $18.5M AAV even that much money these days? More like solid contributor $ than elite OF $ nowadays.2 points

People go to see their team win. The more you win the more people who show up. Eloy and Vaughn have been nearly useless to winning. You can go ahead and give me the I talked bad about Eloy , laugh emoji now Tray.2 points

I feel like signing Maldonado to a 1/$6M deal or trading for Salvy while taking on like 2/$30M would be more "White Sox" than acquiring a legitimately plus defensive catcher for the league min.2 points

I know, if you compare the moves to the thread with the off-season plans and budgets used, the team is going to be way under those hypothetical budgets and the team a lot worse than anyone's plan.2 points

I was just told that anything non directly Sox-related shouldn't be posted on the Chicago White Sox FA/Offseason Board, so: So then we simply shouldn't talk at all about the Cubs...Cubs should be banned entirely from the platform and Diamond Club during the regular season as well. Ban the Padres and Jared Kelenic, too, whatever. Ron883 shouldn't be allowed to threaten to leave and become a Cubs' fan over and over and over again, either.2 points

From the Dodgers, who says no?: 1. C/1B Dalton Rushing (MLB Top 100: 43, Dodgers: 1) 2. SP Nick Frasso (65, 3), or ( Gavin Stone (79, 5) or another young arm that graduated from prospect status with 6+ years of control 3. SS Trey Sweeney (UR, 18) Left-handed hitting IF 4. OF Chris Newell (UR, 24) Left-handing hitting OF1 point

NOBODY FUCKING CARES ABOUT THE WHITE SOX OUTLOOK BECAUSE IT FUCKING SUCKS. They're not even going to sign anyone from here on out for more than $7.5 million...it's freakin' pointless.1 point

I am fine with it versus paying Maldonado or another washed vet $4-5M to be just as bad.1 point

To get out of that awful contract. Even if he's plays well next season, why not let someone else deal with the back end of the deal? Especially for a penny pinching org like the Sox. It's not like light hitting mediocre left fielders are hard to come by.1 point
-
The Hahn regime had this too. What hopefully will be different is he just added people and expected them to be Superman and integrate it themselves rather that work to get whole org aligned1 point
