Dude...I don't think he knows. Nobody knows right now who the leader is for Cease or what Baltimore is willing to do. I think everyone needs to relax and find something to do haha. The White Sox offices aren't even until next week. I'm sure Chris Getz is texting, chatting with GM's etc but he's letting the pitching market settle. I don't think anything is imminent in regards to Cease.9 points

So the O's are going to their minor leaguers and telling them what deals they are and are not going to be involved in. Ummm.....ok. Speaking of Houston, if Elias is running his rebuild like the Astros did they made their big pitcher acquisition (Gerrit Cole) going into year four of their window. Year four of the O's window will be next off season.5 points

All this for the 10th pick in the draft. What a shitshow5 points

No. At the very least it seems to ignore that there are legitimate victims in this case, and what happened to them as an end result is a story that we won’t hear.5 points

Getz made the Hill deal today even with the WS offices being closed. He lives and breathes this stuff 24/7.4 points

Nah I didn't change that, its just how it is. The majority of people on this board can barely get along with each other, now we got some Orioles fans in here to let us know what our players should be worth and how great their prospects are. Im not interested in arguing with you about it because it will never lead to anything. I have my opinions and you have yours, nothing will change that unless Cease does get traded to the Orioles and then we can say "See I told ya so". Nothing personal against you, but both major sports teams message boards I frequent its always the same s%*# when fans from other teams come in to try and engage in discussions.4 points

Really don’t want to hate on every signing they make but they are making it very difficult and challenging with every signing.4 points

I’m starting to worry that Harold…I mean Getz is in a bit over his head on this roster building thing. Like WTF does this move accomplish? I didn’t think I could be disappointed with this signing after predicting Amir Garrett but alas he we are with one most puzzling moves in my history as a White Sox fan.4 points

Would 100% be better off just rotating through AAAA guys and seeing if something sticks then signing Tim Hill. He's awful.4 points
-
They keep acquiring cheap guys with no upside at all and no potential trade value.4 points

Im not interested in trading with Baltimore, they had their shot to make a run and decided to play it safe. Plus, I want these O's posters to go back to their homes and get out of here with their ridiculous assessments of not only Cease but the comical take on Robert as well. Yankees aren't going to be an 82 win team again, Orioles finish 3rd or 4th. Book it.4 points

I see that Sports Guy has been doing a great job representing the O’s fan point of view for the last 20 hours while I was napping. ? I often disagree with him over on Orioles Hangout by I agree with 95% of what he’s said over here. One particular point I want to back him up on is the value of Joey Ortiz. He’s a very good prospect, and the only reason we’d part with him as a second piece in a trade is because we have a ridiculous surplus of young infielders and infield prospects, so we can afford to deal him. He’s the best defensive SS at any level in our system, which is saying something because Gunnar proved to be a very good defensive SS last year. And, he should be a solid hitter, nothing spectacular but far from a glove-only guy. The team that gets him will be very happy they did. At the end of the day, I think the O’s should be willing to give up Cowser or Kjerstad, plus Ortiz or Norby, and let the Sox choose which one from each pairing they prefer. I’m not sure any other team will offer a pairing better than that, and unless someone does, I’d expect the O’s to be pretty reticent to add other pieces. But they could, if pushed to it. If that’s not enough for the White Sox, then I guess they’ll be rolling the dice on Cease having a good first half and bringing more at the deadline.4 points

The first time he adds a potential 3 fWAR player, we can all celebrate. Not counting on Fedde just yet. It's not exactly like there were 8-10 teams in on Maldonado and Hill.3 points
-
If it were me, I would have launched Grandal, who was a free agent shortly after anyway, and held onto Zavala and just sorted out the catching situation later. Maldonado blows.3 points

For the record, this signing has no material impact on anything and any whining is more so due to a questionable move potentially signaling a front office with a possibly questionable vision of what a winning White Sox club might look like. I hope this is all a big nothing, but given Getz is a massive wild card and wasn’t vetted against other candidates, so every little move is going to be looked at under a microscope in hopes of understanding his greater plan.3 points

At 34 years old and given his K/9 the last two seasons, I sure as hell wouldn’t put my money on it.3 points
-
lol this guy isn’t close to as good as Bummer. Some Sox fans are so jaded by Bummer, who is actually a very good lefty reliever.3 points
-
Look deeper than ERA. Look at his dropoff in K/9. He’s toast now.3 points
-
So what is the plan here? Sign all the worst free agents available, don’t develop any of your own much younger players, and do the same thing next offseason once all of these awful one year contracts are DFA’ed or expire?3 points
-
$3.75 million for Chapman. Hahn, I mean Getz, just paid a combined $5.8 million for two much worse players. Nothing has changed. The Sox are the same as they always were. The little amount of money they spend in the offseason is spread out amongst a few terrible players that should likely be cut before the end of their contracts. Awful.3 points
-
How in the hell did this bum get almost $2 million for what he did last season? Awful. Getz’s acquisitions are starting to look just like Hahn’s. What a surprise.3 points
-
Yep, the whole point of this upcoming suckage is to add one year fliers on guys who could turn it around and be traded for a lottery ticket, not old geezers on their last legs.3 points

Another terrible player acquired. He was awful last year.3 points

Rankings are meaningless until the Sox fix their development system and get at least one core competency. Historically, they have been bad at drafting, hitters never improve in their system, and their pitching development has been questionable at best. Montgomery and Schultz gave me hope for their drafts, but picking Gonzalez collapsed that for me. For my money, they are one of the three worst orgs along with KC and Colorado until proven otherwise.3 points

I think that’s a fair deal. My guess is that Getz is holding out for a decent but lower ranked third piece than those four guys, likely a pitcher. But I don’t agree that they will hold onto Cease in any case. Getz won’t be taking on the risk of Cease getting hurt before the trade deadline.2 points

I most certainly am missing your point. There are victims so hoping we catch and punish the criminal responsible seems like a normal response. Not only doesn't it ignore the victims it recognizes they are victims and someone should be held responsible. I'm happy that the victims will see this guy published and I hope it helps then heal. That seems better than being a victim and watching him take bows at an All-Star game. Giving the victims privacy to heal seems like a decent, humane, thing to do. Again, I'm guessing there is something I'm missing in your posts. I know you've always favored swift and strong punishments in cases like this. I'm sorry for missing your point.2 points
-
I think many people are capable of two or more simultaneous emotions. It's good that the victims didn't seem to be trafficked. It's sad that children were in relationships they shouldn't have been, hopefully they will recover and get past this. I'm smiling that this guy was caught, this wasn't swept under the rug, and punishment may deter other adults from abusing children. I'm certain that @Balta1701is also happy that Franco is being punished. I'm also certain that most everyone here overall is saddened by the events. But when you get to the part where Franco is caught living in a hole in the ground, arrested, and sent to prison, at least @hi8isand I will smile. Probably a few others here as well. What's the alternative? Sad he got caught, lost his job, etc?2 points

Ok, so it sounds like Kjerstad, Ortiz, & Povich should be an easy “yes” for you guys given the endless amount of talent you now have. Also, don’t forget about the three first round picks you get in next year’s draft ?2 points
-
If you notice, one of his posts mentioned “eating crow”. Povich is a guy that some have talked about in trades on our board. He came on the site about a month ago or so and told us that everyone was going to eat crow because there was “no chance” Povich would be traded and that the Os told him and his people that. So that’s why I wouldn’t read anything into it. He’s saying Povich isn’t going to be traded yet he is hinting that he knows something is going on. Doesn’t make any sense unless he just knows someone in the know but again, we have no idea if that’s true or not.2 points
-
Thanks for the response. If he is from the Povich camp, and Povich is like the third piece tho then maybe he's been informed he's getting moved. I'm sorry but I'm just trying to find any sliver of hope/excitement at this point even if all the evidence is to the contrary. I know Elias is a hardass and I know JR is pushing a SP heavy deal, so theoretically BAL should be out, but I'm trying to will it/pray it into existence anyway IDGAF. I dont care what the team wants, I know what I want and I really really want it to happen.2 points

Dick do you know how much those pitchers learned from him? Priceless2 points

A younger better Maldonado played for the 2019 Royals who lost 103 games. It didn't seem to do much for them going forward as they have sucked since.2 points

The three epic collapses, a coordinator and coach getting “let go” with very little explanation, and just a general awful connection with media and fans have me firing Flus. It’s just not a tenable situation for me anymore, they have failed in so many different ways it’s hard for me to see Flus coming out on top at some point2 points
-
There is something funny about you mentioning adding Kopech to the deal, only to add him to the pen. He was a can't miss, future ace. He's literally a warning sign that prospects bust, no matter what tools they have and he had major league success when they tried to stretch him out as a long reliever + flashed it in a few starts.2 points

This is not really a rebuild. It's like a half ass half measure where they are stuck in between a fantasy of a retool and a full on rebuild. I dont doubt JR was truly miserable with all the losing last year and he doesn't want to go thru the slog of a full on rebuild at his age. He also wants a relatively quick turnaround otherwise ticket sales will be beyond awful. After all, you have to create some hope and that whole build a 2nd place team in order to keep some acceptable level of fan interest to keep money rolling in. This is also why they can't seemingly move Robert now or else interest would truly tank. On the other hand this is not a true rebuild in the sense that you have referred to...if we were really trying to turn every asset into prospects we would sell off Robert for a kings ransom right now while his value is highest, eat a big chunk of Moncada, Eloy and Beni's money for real returns. Or at least take on a bad contract or so to buy some prospects. But we're not doing any of that. JR is trying to quickly retool while simultaneously getting the financial benefits of a rebuild. You can't have it both ways.2 points

Robert has 4 years left. No one would be able to afford him. Besides, the goal of the team is to be good again before he leaves. If they still stink in 2 years, they can trade him then.2 points
