  1. Giolito got that for two months Don’t let balta and the Orioles posters undervalue Cease.

  2. Dude wrote a whole spiel about how sports journalists need to be better after the Ohtani jet thing, including himself. Dude.

  3. Amazing how we actually have recent proof that a worse pitcher with less control brought back more and yet some posters are still clueless to reality.

  4. To be fair, Frobby has been a reasonable poster. Don’t indict him with Sports Guy’s arrogance. I don’t think he intended to post an article from an Orioles’ fan on Fansided. I’m choosing to believe he was focusing on the “SI” portion.

  5. Gary Peters could pitch and he could hit. In a simpler time, he along with Joel Horlen were responsible for a lot of little south side kids becoming Sox lovers. I'm sure they both would be appalled at the state of today's game regarding starting pitchers. They were just getting started at five innings and 100 pitches.

  6. I think the biggest knock of Flus at this point was it was incredibly clear he didn’t have this team ready to play coming out of the pre-season. ESPN 1000 is the flagship radio station of the Bears and multiple hosts took a lot of abuse from meatball Bears fans when they would talk about being at camp every day…and things not looking right. From Claypool, to Fields, to the overall effort…it just wasn’t there. And that’s exactly what we saw in the first 5,6 weeks of the season. On the flip side, there is a real chance they end the season going 6-2, and in both L’s they had 4th quarter leads. I want the coaching staff to change, but if they end the year going 6-2 in their last 8 games, I’m not going to be outraged if he’s back.

  7. I enjoyed reading the back and forth and hearing the Baltimore perspective from a couple intelligent/non meatball fans, but ultimately it comes down to they value their guys more than we do, just like we value our guy more than they do. Typical fandom stuff. No one’s necessarily right or wrong, but when no one’s budging on their views, it just becomes using different words to make the same arguments over and over.

  8. I was driving around yesterday and reminiscing about the awful job Hahn did with our championship window 2020...shortened season ended with playoff loss because of lack of starting pitching 2021...LaRussa returns. A team that was awfully good at home took the foot of the gas during the regular season and Houston kicked their asses in the playoffs. 2022...500 club 2023....Over 100 losses Could they have done a worse job???

  9. There’s this thing called park factor that plays heavily into the RH/LH conversation. Funny how GMs care.

  10. I don't give a s%*# what this guy says. If Mayo isn't available then why are we even entertaining Cease to BAL? I want 1 guy they don't want to trade for this deal to happen. I reiterate, this franchise is fucked anyhow, so may as well hold out for the moon and take the risk if no one pays.

  13. Maybe one back end T100, an interesting guy and a couple lotto ticket players. So, like Ortiz would be the best player coming back from the Orioles.

  14. This was a statement game for Fields...for Atlanta to trade for him. He should have had a couple of dime TDs today, if it wasn't for Scott dropping them.

  15. If this is Fields last game at Soldier Field playing against his childhood team... what a way to end it. He's been outstanding.

  16. “Insisting it was just clubhouse antics.” True or not that doesn’t make it OK and with a young man on the spectrum it’s even less OK. f*** him.

  20. Well now that it’s too quiet in here, I think we need some Red Sox board posters to exchange stubborn and definitive statements with. There are more subjective arguments to be had!

  22. You guys make the trade with those guys from Baltimore yet?
    2 points
  23. Exactly. I don't understand all the Sox fans willingness to accept high risk high reward (probably not needle movers) for a potential Cy Young candidate for 2 fucking years. It makes zero sense. All respect to the Os guys here but coming over and downplaying Cease because he was just "ok" on the team with the worst culture many Sox fans have ever seen in their life is asinine. #2 Cy Young doesn't happen by accident, it takes a full ass year of amazing pitching. He is going to be FINE on a team with actual structure and culture. He is more than capable and... if it ain't Holliday headlining this deal it better be fucking Mayo.

  24. I can’t state this enough, the best Sox insider has said all along the plan was to deal him AFTER Snell and Montgomery go elsewhere.

  28. Lol nice try. It's an "Inside the Orioles" writer not a national SI guy....sounds like Elias is doing a fine job greasing local writers and converting them into basically state media. Unscrupulous but impressive.

  29. Because supply and demand are very different at the trade deadline. LAA was clearly motivated by trying to make a wild card with Ohtani. They had a 2 month ticking clock and very few options. There are no ticking clocks right now.

  30. the sad part is If the O's (2nd lowest payroll in MLB) signed Snell or Montgomery and traded for Cease they'd be pennant favs for the next 2 years. Instead we're arguing about Cease's value for players that are blocked until 2026 ?

  31. A back end top 100 guy is extremely unlikely to be as good as Cease is, and the other pieces are almost guaranteed to not be good or even MLB players. How does this make sense for a workhorse averaging 4 fWAR over the past 3 seasons? A pitcher with that track record is so useful to a team.

  33. It was literally the first article I saw. And it doesn’t really support “my view,” since I said from my very first post here that I’d be willing to give up Kjerstad/Cowser and Ortiz (and maybe an additional piece, if pressed by circumstances). So really we are just quibbling about what “extra” the Sox would get. I was just interested in what were the “so many” articles you were talking about. And I still don’t know. What’s the package Sports Guy and James Fox discussed? I can’t look it up because I’m not a Twitter/X member.

  34. Chris Flexen could do that in his sleep.

  35. 4.5 and 3.7 fWAR seasons aren't good?
    1 point
  36. No. Look it up on MLBTR. I read one there, but their search function is chaos. Sports Guy and James Fox just had a conversation where they both agreed on a probable package. Every blogger for multiple teams has written a column on possible Cease trade packages. Really, Google "Cease trade package" and read away.

  37. I think they need a Packers and Vikings tie too. I don't think that's happening.

  38. Outside of Moore and Kmet, everybody on this team has butter fingers. They definitely need to upgrade the WR room, regardless of who's QB next year.

  43. They need to start drafting the best player available and stop trying to outsmart the system and they will have a much better chance of doing that now that Shirley has control of the amateur scouting department.

  45. You want a 29 year old arbitration eligible starter with 4 years of control, for THIS current Sox team? Thankfully, you will never be a GM, my friend.
    1 point
  46. What I’ve said is I don’t think we should go higher than that unless and until circumstances force us to. That could happen and hopefully Elias keeps his ear to the ground and will be ready to respond if some team makes an offer that’s better than Kjerstad/Cowser and Ortiz. But I do think those two for Cease would work out well for the White Sox even without additional pieces.

  47. Generally, unless the post is obviously so ridiculous and I give it a laugh, if I'm giving any emoji, I'm digging the post because I'm old and don't want to learn new s%*#. Emojis weren't around in the 80s when players used to bunt, and you could put a 1B in the OF and intentionally walk guys with 1 and 2 counts, and people wouldn't run to their computers or phones to complain brother.
