I'm pulling for him. When he's been healthy, he's been good to really good. He's always been a good teammate. There's really no reason to hate on the guy.7 points

You'll never see me complain about minor league deals, but FFS, play the fringe young controllable talent at the big league level.6 points

Sorry, but there's plenty of reason to criticize Moncada. Same reasons why we criticize Eloy.6 points

There is simply no way AK believes this. A basic fan can understand why the premise is flawed. There is a reason it feels so similar to what other FO's have said that have run the Bulls and the Sox. It's coming from upstairs. As already mentioned in this thread, this idea of having no superstar but a deep 9-10 man roster of "good" has worked once in the last 25 years. It's an antiquated way of building a team. You know who's antiquated and stuck in the past? Dude was bringing up Branch Rickey in a press conference in 2023. Both the Sox and Bulls are stuck on a road to nowhere until the Reinsdorfs are removed from ownership. It's not anymore complicated than that.4 points

Sir, being the resident -Sin City- Sox fan I believe we should be asking you3 points

This is...a weird post. 1. Yoan Moncada was with the White Sox from 2017-2024, 8 seasons. Out of those 8 seasons, two of them would be considered "really good" and the other six can only be described as "really bad". His career WAR with the White Sox is 14.7 over 8 seasons. Not really what I'm looking for out of a 72 million dollar investment. 2. Incredibly small sample size, but in 31 PA's in the playoffs, he put up a .172/.226/.172 slash line, with no XBH. 3. Not sure how we really judge the "good teammate" comment. Were you in the lockerrrom and we just didn't know it? If you weren't, not really sure what you're basing that on. He didn't really leave his team in a good spot with his injury history (who remembers when he had his rehab halted last year for "anticipated soreness"?) 4/10/24 Abductor 6/15/23 Back 4/10/23 Back 8/25/22 Hamstring 7/6/22 Foot 6/17/22 Hamstring 5/28/22 Quad 4/7/22 Oblique 7/1/21 Hand 6/15/21 Illness 8/29/20 Leg 7/30/19 Hamstring 6/26/19 Knee 6/16/19 Back 6/10/19 Back 6/2/19 Leg Soreness 5/5/18 Left hamstring tightness 5/4/18 Left hamstring tightness 4/21/18 Sore left hamstring Not trying to be overly critical, and I have zero issues if you want to pull for him with LAA, that's cool. I just don't feel like his time should be remembered here fondly, he was a pretty massive disappointment and was a key reason why that "core' failed.3 points

Zach and DeMar in Sacramento. TA and Yoan in Anaheim. Looking forward to the Chargers signing Teven Jenkins and Coleman Shelton. Sorry, Chargers, I don’t make the rules.3 points

The Sox already paid Moncada $5 million to go away. They were not going to pay him another $5 million to come back, and rightfully so. I hope he has a good year in LA, but he was all but useless after 2021. Way too many injuries, and his power disappeared. As far as Anderson, see ya. He became a head case with too many off field issues that certainly affected his on field performance. Hopefully he gets his s%*# straightened out and plays well. The Angels could have a nice left side of the infield for 2025, but a lot of stuff needs to go right. The Sox have about 10 guys to fill those same two spots, and I'd be willing to bet whatever combination of players that ends up there will have comparable numbers (or better) to TA and Yoan.3 points

They just could have easily DFA'd him - no one would have claimed him. It makes zero sense to keep him rostered at this point. It isn't like he is some magical arm that hits triple digits.2 points

I’m guessing they think Steven Wilson clears waivers. It’s pretty puzzling otherwise.2 points

Wow with 26 HR pop he's automatically our best HR guy. He will start at 3B baby.2 points

Absolutely horrible last year but hit 26 HRs in 2023. Sure, why not?2 points

Wilson probably clears I'd imagine. I'm generally good with the roster churn but it's a lot of lefties in the bullpen.2 points

It's a good thing you're accumulating all these draft picks so you can start developing those 9-10 very good players.2 points

It's Colson and it's not up for debate. Is he good enough? I dunno, unlikely. Did he earn it? Absolutely he did. You're stunting his development by not making him the opening day SS. You're giving a middle finger to every prospect in the system (they're already doing that to the pitchers). This is the worst team of all time, right, and you have a "shortstop" who a lot of people consider to be one of the top young players yet to play in the MLB...so why would you play "some guy" over him? To help him develop? He doesn't need any more time in the minors. He was Rule 5 eligible, that's a sign it's time to join the major league roster. Starting him in Charlotte is just a vibe killer for the entire organization.2 points

Of all of the organizations for Yoan and TA to end up with, The Angels have to be around the worst. They seem to have so many perpetually injured players, I do wonder if they are missing something in their training programs.2 points
-
The absolute only way I'm okay with drafting him is if you pick up two of the premiere OL guys in free agency, and then another one with one of the second round picks (with the other pick being DL). Even then makes me nervous.2 points

Ooh that's a level of F***ing up the people that I hadn't even thought of yet. Put Rojas in at 2b and now you've screwed up 4 different positions. Nicely done, super White Sox.2 points

Moncada and Rendon are two of the most injury-prone players in baseball. Whomever is not injured at the time will likely play 3B.2 points

Ramos a liability at 3B? Haven’t heard anything bad about his defense. Regardless, I don’t see him being the OD 3B…that will almost certainly be Rojas to start the year.2 points

Though we have so many quality RFs on the roster, I can see why they would make this move anyway.1 point

Sosa doesn't have the range, instincts or fast-twitch reactions to play there. It will be Baldwin or Amaya.1 point

I think Meidroth ends up at 2B, and Rojas is a bench piece but gets plenty of time at all three spots (outside of 1B). Sosa may have the inside track at SS, but I imagine the Sox really want Colson to end up there. I'd agree with the OP that, defensively, none are better than Naperville Nicky, but several of these guys should have better offensive seasons.1 point
-
My pre-season guess for infield starters , at least to start the season: Lenyn Sosa (SS), Bryan Ramos (3B) Brooks Baldwin (2B) Ramos is probably too much of a liability on defense but I like his potential for power in the line-up.1 point

"Colas moving to 1B could significantly improve his odds of making the OD roster." Did he magically escape from the dog house? Is this a shot across AV's bow? Curious. Colas did play more 1B than OF before he signed with the Sox, so it's not entirely a new position. He also has less than a year of total MLB service time, so he could be a cheap replacement. Just seems like an odd move after burning $6M at the position already.1 point

These guys are legit the worst front office in the sport. Absolute imbeciles if they actually believe that a viable strategy.1 point

I'd actually rather pay to see a Sox game than a Bulls game right now. As an out of stater who is a playoff only fan (as a kid I was a real fan of B-Hawks and Bulls) I have zero interest in watching any part of a current Bulls game. Exceedingly dull. Why is Billy Donovan still there. He could get a job with a real NBA or college team.1 point
