Hell as often as he is hurt, giving him time off is a pretty damned good idea.

That's not a good sign...their prospect pool is not great in terms of fits (De Vries and a few others I'm sure are off the table). I'd much rather have PHI or NYM be the leaders. And our transactions with Preller have been... suboptimal.

I don't think it's a thought, I think it's a given at this point. Not that Robert is suddenly going to be a .400 hitter with any club he goes to, but that talented players are not in a good situation with the White Sox and that classic "change of scenery" cliche holds a lot of water here. There is just too much evidence at this point to really believe otherwise. Especially as it relates to players that are still here that played under Grifol. I think A LOT of damage was done during the 2022-2024 seasons with players attitudes and culture. As we have discussed before, I don't care if you're playing professional baseball or an accountant..people go to work everyday and company culture plays a huge role for a majority of people. You come in wide-eyed and want to do your absolute best, but when everyone around you isn't putting in the effort, management doesn't give you the proper tools to succeed and your boss seems in way over his head...people check out. And it works the other way too. I don't think Andrew Vaughn is suddenly the best hitter in baseball, but you spend 5 years in a circus, then get traded 90 miles up the road to a team that has a strong foundation, players with experience winning and are in the middle of a playoff race, you adapt to that culture as well. You know you have to bring your A game every day, because being lazy or giving minimal effort isn't going to cut it here, like it did at your other place. And I'm all for personal responsibility, it's on the player to bring that level wherever they play...but we've seen in all walks of life, that always isn't the case.

Getz will likely burn $20M filling out the roster with garbage, and not spending $20M on a single player will no doubt keep the boss happy.

I have to imagine Andrew Vaughn is actually doing more for Luis Robert's trade value than anyone outside of Luis Robert right now.

Best team in baseball! It's crazy how well they are playing. Maybe coming out of the break against a bad Pirates team was what they needed. I expected them to fall flat in Tampa, but they looked just as good as they did in Pittsburgh. Obviously this level of play won't last, and there will likely be more losses than wins going forward (especially after the trade deadline), but it's nice to see the young guys playing well. It's stretches like this that allow you to squint and almost see a bright future.

I mean no ill will towards Bill Mitchell, but his lists are consistently horrible. If the Sox have 13 players better than McDougal, they have the best system in baseball. Kyle Lodise 12 spots ahead of Antonacci?! Does he watch any games? Not Sox games. I mean baseball games. Little League, anything? There are so many problems, I’m getting my next Top 30 from Duck pees on prospect names dot com.

So hope he continues playing well for the remainder of the season, pick up the option, throw in $10 million to the team you trade him to, and then that team gets Robert on a 1 year, $10M deal with an option for the next year?

Luis plays to win but does not have much of a personality. Pete Rose he is not.

The idea is if he keeps hitting at 120 wRC+ clip the rest of the way, teams may believe he finally figured something out and is back to prior form. If so, his value theoretically goes up in the offseason. I just don’t buy that the front office will be willing to make that bet, especially after burned a couple times now.

Honestly? With as crappy as the Sox roster is, they can actually afford to take on potential rule 5 guys as it's not like we don't have roster spots we can make. If it is the best talent you get offered, take it. We don't have a real roster crunch if we are actually willing to jettison the flotsam.

We live in a weird time right now, but yeah, I could never actually look at one of my teenage daughters and then use their sex to diminish them. As broad as the English language is, and as intelligent as we are, I don't think it is a horrible thing to be better than that. My whole goal as a parent is to leave things in a better state for my kids, than what I got. This is one of those tiny little things we can easily do better.

If Robert plays like he did against the Pittsburgh in the upcoming series with Philadelphia he will be on Phillies team plane leaving O'Hare Wednesday July 30.

I dont remember anyone questioning Robert's work ethic. Just the opposite. Everyone has said he has a great work ethic. He's just extremely quiet and there's the injuries.

It’s summer in Florida, after 32 years in Florida you get used to it. Summer in Florida is way better than winter in Chicago.

Balls are also flying off bats at a much faster speed than ever in the history of the game. And because we are talking about possible life or death, no I don't think it's extreme. The whole reason base coaches wear them is because a coach was killed by a line drive.

Considering a pitcher has never been killed on the field in the history of baseball in the modern era (since 1900) your suggestion is a little extreme in my opinion.

Anyway…Keith Law sure did like our draft. I don’t always agree with his takes and he certainly has some strong biases, but the dude is a great talent evaluator and really knows position players. As such, it’s good he endorsed our haul.

It’s stupid. He’s not rookie eligible. He isn’t a prospect. I don’t know why BA ignores 45 days active. It makes no sense. He’s fine. Might be a couple weeks but he’s fine. I can’t share more than that

I actually think it’s a pretty good list. There’s eight top 100 caliber prospects at the top of it (including several high ceiling ones) plus a bunch of other arms (many who could be SPs) and infielders. Honestly, this is the deepest I ever remember a list being, although the list will be radically different by the end of this season with graduations. I think the relief prospects are simply ranked too high and should be in the 20 to 30 range. The real problem is the lack of power and OF talent. I get the notion that up the middle prospects can “play anywhere” but at some point you need guys with legit power that can fill holes at 1B, DH, & LF. I know it won’t be a popular opinion, but it’s an area we have completely underinvested in since the rough patch where we took Collins, Burger, Vaughn, & Sheets with 1st and 2nd round picks.

I have no idea how Iriarte can be top 10 at this point.

I can't imagine making a crack that some guy "throws like a girl" to my daughter without her losing a ton of respect for me. The thing is, someone doesn't need to have a daughter to think such a comment is wrong. I don't know about others, but I try to live my life in such a way that I don't go around thinking anything that doesn't affect me personally doesn't matter.

Look, I'm also in the "Schriff sucks and Stone is past his prime" camp as well, but it's pretty dismissive to say "this is the worst ever" and also "I haven't listened to a broadcast all year" in the same breath. Schriff and Plesac work well together, and Schriff has even toned it down (a bit) this year. Still not my favorite but to say "it's the worst ever and I haven't listened to it" is a bit like saying "no one goes there any more, it's too crowded".

The view looking out from home plate toward the outfield has to be one of the worst in baseball. Other than the scoreboards, all you see is a bunch of giant advertisements that look like 3 huge expressway billboards framed by an "erector set" looking structure. It was much worse before they installed the Kids Zone and the Fan Deck. Back then it was 4 giant billboards on either side of the scoreboards and then what looked like the roof of a tool shed in the batter's eye section. The kids area and Fan Deck sure did help improve the aesthetics, but even post-renovation it's still a very bland, symmetrical view that is one of the most unremarkable in MLB. And yeah, EVERY ballpark as lots of ads in the outfield at our park, they really dominate the view at Rate Field. They're blended in much more nicely in most other parks. This one thing isn't a make-or-break issue for Rate Field, but these issues sure add up.

These two things can be true at the same time... Austin Slater would be valuable to a playoff team. Austin Slater is not worth much in a trade.

I think we often look at things through whatever the opposite of rose-colored glasses is. Take away the jersey, look at the stats, and think about what that player could do for a contender. Tauchman, Slater, Houser, Wilson, and even M. Taylor and Robert could help other teams. I agree that other teams have similar and maybe even better players available, but the demand will most likely exceed the supply. The Sox probably won't get any surprise returns, but to discount their potential trade pieces as fodder is short-sighted.

I'm not on Twitter and more people shouldn't be, just from everything I hear it's a cesspool of negativity and breaking news 😆 I wonder if Stone just needs the right partner. I don't like Schriffen, he comes across as even less knowledgeable about the Game as Benetti did when he started, and Schriffen is just cringy. Not my style. I thought Stony and Benetti paired very well together however.

The worst Sox broadcast team ever. Haven't watched a game all year.
