  2. Eisert and Leasure are fine by me. Alexander has been a mighty fine warm body IMO. In general, this game isn't bothering me that much because it's just not that bad of an omen when your young offense scores a bunch of runs and a bunch of old guys blow the lead

  3. Chase with a great play, Smith really gutted it out tonight.

  4. I truly think that kid could end up being a star but they need to stick him in one spot on the field and leave him there so he can get better at that position. Moving him all over does him no favors

  5. Way too early to write off Meidroth as a future utility guy when he has two elite skills on top of being a strong or capable defender up the middle. Teel is flashing star catcher potential (his xwOBA is only .005 below Cal Raleigh). Montgomery has been very good this year (142 wRC+ across three levels) despite coming off injury. I still believe we end up with three everyday guys out of this group and I could see that being a +4 win Catcher, a +3 win RF, and a +2 win infielder. If that’s the case, it’s a huge win for the White Sox given the lack of positional talent at the time. In a perfect world you keep the true impact player and fill your holes in other ways, but unfortunately Rick Hahn made that a near impossibility with his incompetence.

  6. Yikes. He's almost run neutral on FGs defensive values now. He leads our team in fWAR. If you want Sosa gone, you're insane. FGs -.7 runs below average. As a team the Sox are -40. Statcast: 55th percentile defender. Run neutral. You can use the eye test or you can use advanced metrics. Hell use both for all I care but don't ignore the metrics. He's fine at 2B. He works to improve his first step he could be solid.

  7. In all honesty - as much as it stinks - most of the young players did well at the plate and the pitchers like Smith did good - other ones who aren’t part of the long haul drove the loss.

  9. Smith gave up a cheapie in the 5th. Walk advanced to 3rd on a single and called safe at home on a close play on a bunt FC. Final line 5IP, 1ER, 2H, 2BB, 7K. For what it's worth, I didn't think the misses were bad. Zone seems a little tight.

  13. Early going, but Smith's velo is up from his last start. Scoreless first with 1K. It's also his birthday 🎉

  14. Need some more power but among the rookies playing tonight you've got a 360, 347, 335, 297 OBP respectively. And Baldwin will almost certainly finish over .300.

  15. Losing the AL and NL would be a big mistake, and having the Cubs and Sox in the same division would be too much for the city to handle (same for Yanks/Mets). Its just not necessary.

  18. And for the record, this is Barlolo Colon's career line. He averaged 1.2 hits per season. Yes, I am OK with giving up his one HR, so that a DH could have hit 15 to 20 HRs over that same period of ABs.

  19. f*** Frank Thomas, I need to see my starting pitcher pull a hamstring running to first on a dribbler!

  20. This team hasn't even had more than 1 offensive player have more than 2 WAR going on three full seasons now, if we end up getting 3 everyday players putting up a combined WAR in the range of 8-10 from trading away 1 player that had no shot at being here long term that is a major win. Again, that needs to happen first before we celebrate but so far its looking really good.

  21. no way do you trade sosa, he could hit 25 bombs next year, his offensive production has increased every year since joining the Sox OPS (by year): 2022: .368 / 1 HR 2023: .572 / 6 HR 2024: .642 / 8 HR 2025: .752 / 17 HR dude is figuring it out. maybe he can teach Robert.

  22. I don't completely dislike the proposal. I realize any serious realignment would most likely put the Cubs and Sox in the same division, but I'm not a fan of that. And as far as expansion teams, I imagine one would be either Nashville or Charlotte but not both.

  23. Sounds minor. No reason to push it up 9 at the time.

  24. I do. Some of us like strategy. Some of us like the excitement of Bartolo Colon hitting a bomb or Dylan Cease going 3 for 3 while striking out 11. Incredibly memorable. Baseball is a very boring sport if you only watch it to see dingers. Lots more hits per game, higher batting averages when pitchers were hitting, just sayin'.

  27. I'm torn. Part of me thinks it would be awesome being in the same division as the Cubs and the other part of me hates it. Edit: it would definitely help out attendance a few extra games a season. And if you are in the same division as Cardinals and Brewers, you see a boost there as well when you play them.

  28. Someone on twitter suggested Cubs, Brewers, Cubs, Cards and the more I thought about it I decided I actually liked it. Everyone would hate the Cubs and the Cubs would hate everyone. It would make the Cubs/Sox games matter every single time because its a division game. I also think it would help with attendance because travel for fans or just transplants would be much more feasible. I hated the first iteration, but when I looked at this one I found myself enjoying the idea of it.

  31. There sure seems to be a lot of things that the White Sox are ranked around 27th on compared to other teams. That's a Reinsdorf-run organization for you.

  32. and the MLB Players Union will never agree to it in a million years. No way in hell they'd agree to jettison 30 starting lineup positions (DH).

  37. Knowing someone is going to fail 90% of the time isn't "strategy". It's masochistic. Did you like the excitement of Martin Maldonado get his monthly hit too?

  38. Didn’t say 4 win player next year…Sox will find a way to get both Teel and Quero in the lineup more frequently. Benintendi & Tauchman are not long-term roadblocks.

  39. Appendix. He looked to be stretching his back during one of his at bats. Maybe just routine tight ness. Back spasms would normally be a minimum of 2-3 days out. At least time off isn't ruining a hot streak...he's currently as cold as Lambeau in January.

  40. Fangraphs puts him at 32nd in dWAR out of 80 players who have played more than 100 innings at second base. Guess that makes him above average. 1.2 dWAR isn't "great" but it's also "above replacement". Former #1 prospect Jackson Holliday is at -1.9 for reference. Is anyone questioning his 2b chops? Dude is the Jake Burger of this season, when are Sox fans gonna realize?

  44. Which inning for first "competitive/professional" at bat comment from Beckham?
    1 point
  45. Yeah but, again, the Sox were never going to keep him so getting 3 players that they control for 6 years that can put up a combined 5-6-7 WAR is gold to them. They wont sign a player that can do that by themselves. In a perfect world, they just extend him and he's here forever.
