  1. I feel like I'm going to wake up in rehab to learn this was just a hallucination.
  2. Raise your hand if you were nervous seeing Taylor for inning 3
  3. Veneble was absolutely justified to do what he did. Game one win puts the pressure on brown to throw a masterpiece as they have no bullpen. This was worst case scenario for them IMO
  4. Your Chicago White Sox take a 1-0 lead in the ALWC. They put the leadoff man aboard in 6 of 9 innings, and scored against 5 of 8 Astros arms. Smith and the offense set the tone early, Grant Taylor with an incredible 7 outs to slam the door late. An impressively mature playoff debut for so many of our young guys on both sides of the ball. No indication at all that the moment was too big for them, kudos to Will and staff for having them prepared. Let's win another and then go settle a score in Cleveland.
  5. We lost 324 games over the 3 years prior to this season. We are the only team in history to make the playoffs after back to back 100 loss seasons (let alone three 100 loss seasons). That's the definition of playing with house money. Let's go in free and loose and kick the crap out of the trash can bangers in their Mickey Mouse ballpark!
  6. I actually think the Sox bullpen being used like this all year benefits us (assuming they're not all fatigued to hell). You saw Mattingly trying to use Duran for 2 innings and it totally backfired on him. Because he was a 1 inning pitcher all year. Our guys being used to these situations is a big advantage. We've basically been using our relievers like it's the playoffs all year, so this is nothing new to them.
  7. I’m a 62-year old man. I have two grown sons and another in HS. I’m incredibly happily married. I enjoy my job and who I work with yet this win brought tears to my eyes. I’m a softie and a sucker for my teams especially when they’re so much fun! Edit…only one of the sons is a Sox fan. I claim the other two anyway.
  8. How about simply winning this series and the Cubs lose to the Padres!

  10. The boss (Tigers fan, alcoholic) just asked if I want to leave and go get beers for the game. Lets go!!!
  11. Cleanest game we’ve seen in a while from the Sox. Keep it up
  12. A wonderfully stressful yet satisfying game. Love how they played like they felt like they belonged, nobody looked like they were afraid of the moment
  13. I want it. Really badly. The city would probably burn. If we won the World Series against the cubs we might not be the 2nd team anymore. Or it would at least be the beginning of that transition especially if we sustained a winning culture.

  15. Taylor is probably done until Saturday but so what. Find a way tomorrow. Man is this stressful and boatloads of fun!
  16. Agreed, JTB, it's an awesome thing! It's been such a kick following these guys throughout this season, and really kind of hard to grasp the fact that the "regular" part is done, and that the team now gets to participate in the "gravy" part. A couple of our fellow posters have referenced the concept of "playing with house money" at this stage. I don't know if everyone necessarily holds that point of view, but I think I probably lean that way. Nobody (except them) thought these guys would come this far, and they got here by playing loose, hungry, and aggressive. I hope they can just keep doing that. They've also had the benefit of truly loving one another as brothers, rising or falling as a team. No matter how things go from here, I would also observe that I've had a TON of fun following this forum this season, had many good laughs, and been truly impressed at all of you guys'/gals' ability to bounce opinions around "vigorously", but always emerge as friends. It's been a real pleasure.
  17. Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad....and kick the Astros ass!
  18. MLB is so messed up. The Sox and Cubs are in the playoffs and on regular TV in Chicago, you can watch every playoff game except theirs.
  19. Lets go Sox - keep battling, dig deep!!! You got this!!!
  20. That was a good play by Colson. That hop could easily have eaten him up. He played the ball well instead of letting it play him.
  21. Sale is dealing. Man in another universe with another owner he would have been a White Sox for life. Hall of Famer.
  22. Best approach I've seen all season. Dont. Stop. Now. Boys!!!
  23. this is exactly what I hoped for . they look so good at the plate
  24. Yep. Give them a taste of what they’re playing for every year. This is already a success to me.
  25. Let’s go White Sox, I would love for them to win 2 straight and send the Astrocheats packing. Our Sox have hung in there all year and with their backs against the wall with a lousy playoff system I expect them to rise to the occasion and win this series.
  26. I find the obsession with K on a 2.8 fWAR player bizarre. I get you don't like seeing a SS with 230K and 30+ HR, but it adds up the same as a slap hitting Ozzie guillen's best years.
  27. i'm so darn nervous that I may be pulling out the Macallan in the daytime, which I very rarely do.
  28. The White Sox are playing playoff baseball today. Pinch me!
  29. Off topic but I don’t care: Just watched (again) that Mune locker room celebration video “One-Hundred!!” It is pure joy, pure joy, especially for those of us who watched and suffered through the 121 loss season. And I always liked Brooke Fletcher, but after that interview, getting drenched while she’s working yet celebrating with them; she is so genuine; now I love her.
