While I will not doubt Tony has a pacemaker, and it may have had some issues, I do think there is more to this story than that. There are hundreds of thousands of people with pacemakers. They aren’t told to immediately quit their job, but it’s still OK to sort of do your job, like Tony was watching games and consulting with Cairo. But I will take it. 2 years probably wasted. At least one for sure. Get someone who actually doesn’t think results are too easy.7 points

Jesus, Ron Washington is 70 and hasn't managed in 8 years. Let's try for something better than that.6 points

Press conference is at 4 pm tomorrow and will be televised. Hope there are more retirements announced.5 points

I just want them to conduct a correct process. Interview a diverse group, find someone who actually gets along with the GM some of the time and works together with them rather than against them.5 points

42 years of one mind-numbing, franchise-crippling decision after another. If you take a step back and have a holistic review of the four plus decades of ownership by Reinsdorf, it’s beyond appalling. He’s really been a horrible owner. It would be a dream come true if Reinsdorf joined his dear pal tomorrow and surprised us all with the announcement he was selling the club and walking away as well. Won’t happen, but it’s fun to dream about.5 points

Id prefer someone that is under 60, ideally under 50. We don’t need to run it back with an old man.4 points

I only hope the White Sox do a professional search for a manager. I've seen some employers spend more time hiring a minimum wage worker than the Sox when hiring a manager for a major league baseball team.4 points

Yeah, it sure seems like JR told Bob he'd give him a scoop on TLR's retirement but only if he packaged it into a strong defense of him.4 points

Moncada is 0 for 10 with 8 strikeouts vs. Snell. So he bats 2nd. Sorry Miguel, you are no longer a candidate.3 points

My choice in 2020 may not be available this time around if Dusty steps down after the season. Joe Espada remains my choice if he is available. Will give the organization a new modern perspective, relate well with the players and will Give the People What they Want!3 points

I want Hahn fired as much as anyone, but to be fair he had planned on running a legitimate manager search prior to Jerry intervening.3 points
-
The good news is anyone is far more competent than La Russa, so from a marginal standpoint this will be an easy win.3 points

Willie Harris would just be another “family” hire. Wouldn’t connect with the Latin players on this roster in my opinion and would be a typical Jerry hire.3 points

TLR should never have been named manager in the first place but what's done is done, wish him all the best in retirement.3 points

Fire the hacks in the training staff already. Everyone involved in either missing a torn meniscus or letting him pitch with a torn meniscus should be shown the door. Between Kopech & Robert we have some gross negligence and or medical malpractice on our hands. As ridiculous as it is enraging.3 points

While it obviously makes a difference (as we clearly saw with this incredible failure) the bigger point is accurate. None of this matters with the FO in place.3 points

I would take a look at Ron Washington. He had a rough ending in Texas but is beloved in Atlanta. He us a defense guru as well. We know this team needs that.3 points
-
So Michael Kopech has a meniscus tear and in your eyes is expected to "pitch through it" because he has had other injuries before? I assume you have this same take on Robert, who saw literally having to swing with 1 hand and put up a stunning .087 OPS in the month of September before finally being shut down once the coffin was finally placed in this team. Maybe it's possible players want to push through most injuries (as we saw with Kopech taking the mound on August 22nd and was clearly hurt, but tried his best for the team) but the coaching staff and trainers need to actually do their jobs and you know, "manage" the athletes on the field.3 points

Hard to think of a player more screwed over than Vaughn. What this org had him do is criminal2 points
-
Faint praise. You’re comparing him to Comiskey, Veeck, and the Allyns, the last two with no money to spend and without a sweetheart lease deal. None of those previous owners had near the resources afforded Reinsdorf, and yet with such an advantage, just one trip to the World Series, and ZERO playoff series wins in the other 41 years. PATHETIC.2 points

...and once they find this person, HIRE this person. It shouldn't need to be said, but it needs to be said with this org.2 points

I don’t care who they hire as long as it isn’t a cheater like Beltran. Hire somebody that’s qualified and doesn’t have proven record of being a dickhead.2 points

The reign of terror is over when the Reinsdorf cabal is no longer in the owner"s suite. This ending was predictable the day TLR was hired.2 points

If the Sox just said nothing about TLR, it would be better, because Lord knows they aren't going to admit hiring him ruined the rebuild.2 points

Some propaganda level water carrying from Bob this morning. I hope those clicks keep him warm at night.2 points

Wrong, we're still owned by JR, I'm thinking the list is short – Cairo, AJ, or Willie Harris. I even heard Chris Getz mentioned who's never managed a MLB game. Can we please break away from incompetence when it comes to hiring the next White Sox manager and go outside of the Jerry's comfort zone.2 points

This was expected, but glad it’s official. How about the next issue? When is the announcement that Hahn is let go from his duties as VP of baseball ops? Or better yet, when will KW announce that he has resigned from his duties as president of baseball ops? Or better yet, when will the White Sox be listed for sale? Changes across the board are needed and long overdue. Not just the manager and coaching staff. Heck, even if Jerry doesn’t sell, it’ll be nice to have Michael Reinsdorf takeover and clean house.2 points
-
It’s weird he’s been interviewed multiple times throughout the past few years and no one has given him a shot.2 points
-
With the frequency of inter league now this simply isn’t true. Players all over the league succeed wherever they go, no team would abide by a “no NL” rule because that is hilariously dumb. The sox scouting and choices of players is the issue2 points
-
I’d say I’m incredibly happy you have absolutely no control over any roster decision or player health, but it sounds like you have the same view as a lot of the current coaching staff on the Sox, and we all saw how well that went. You’re also basing individual player health decisions on lack of depth that Michael Kopech or any other player has 0 to do with, which always seems like a super decision.2 points

Thanks White Sox minor leagues, MILBTV, and message board friends. You helped keep me entertained while I stayed away/coped with the dumpster fire major league team. Maybe if we are lucky, both the minors and majors can be fun next season.2 points
