Sox the "front-runners" for Imai

So is Imai a true free agent, or a six years of control guy?  I think with his age, he could do any MLB contract, and then hit free agency again, right?

It is interesting to see the Sox looking at short contracts for guys whose prices are plummeting as a way of enticing them to Chicago.  It really makes me think that Ishbia really is being more involved here and taking some chances on deals that could well be bargains in the long run.

I also wonder if we are already starting to see some of that old fashioned collusion we usually see right before, and right after, a labor problem.

I believe whether prospect or international free agent, you need the 6 years service time unless the contract specifically states otherwise. Don’t quote me on it.

I thought there was something where the professional baseball leagues respected other leagues service time towards things like free agency?  Maybe I am misremembering.

This would be awesome but I just can't imagine the Sox beating out Cubs, Phillies, Mets, or Red Sox.  It made a little more sense with Murakami because of his red flags/bust potential.

Someone tell me why I'm wrong.

I don't think you're wrong. Logically it would be like lightning striking twice under the same set of circumstances that allowed the Sox to get Murakami.

I literally was going to start Imai thread on the last Imai posts I made when I read he wasnt getting offers but I posted in the Murakami thread instead.  No one seemed to show much interest . Glad its gained some traction even if its just BS.

I made the comment that if Ishbia was involved in some way it maybe could happen but that I didn't trust the WhitsoxDave source that said Getz called Justin Ishbia after the Mune signing.

If the Sox sign Imai, they’re basically a .500 team. In that division, that would make you a contender. Let’s get it done!

Yeah, you gotta figure out the dumpster fire of a pen, but this team looks a whole lot better with another front line starter and a middle of the other thumper.

I think they’re better off from the right side than others do. Taylor had freakishly bad luck. I think he’s a stud. Leasure looked like a leverage arm late last year, especially if that splitter continues to develop. Berroa has a shot. Vasil is more lucky than good, but he has the stones to pitch late. It’s the lefties I don’t like.

I think the FA thing can be negotiated and that was what they did with Murakami.

Not sure how that impacts the posting fee.

Posting fee is a percentage of the amount of the contract .The bigger the contract the less the percentage is above a certain amount .
