This makes it even more frustrating that they didn't do a real search to rebuild this organization because they "couldn't waste a year" now they come out and finally acknowledge this thing is nowhere close and its going to be a while.

Nothing will increase the ratings. These last few seasons have done irreparable damage to this team that I’m not sure ownership fully understands yet.

I don't get it. If you don't want to pay the price to sign these high dollar fee agents then invest your money into scouting and development. At least that way you can hopefully produce your own star players and just keep that cycle going. We seemingly like to live in the middle ground of behind the times in scouting/development and only shelling out money for mid tier free agents who wont move the needle. Also, continually hiring unqualified alumni to lead your team/organization.

Chris Getz should be legit embarrassed for building an “all glove” positional group and still playing Gavin Sheets in RF. He’s a fucking clown no different than the two clowns that hired him in the first place. If he wasn’t the front office snitch, he would have been fired alongside them and wouldn’t have the one poster here creaming his pants every time his name is mentioned.

Sunday I get to see the soxtwitter videos of Lenyn Sosa pop-up, another embarrassing rundown where we say "it looks like they've never played baseball before!" Before we get too far - Lenyn getting where he has today is an incredible accomplishment. He may not be very good, but he was a modest bonus signing that has made it to the big leagues on the strength of his hitting progression. He is by far the best signing of that class, which was highlighted by Josue Guerrero. Anyway. Sosa signed in July 2 of 2016. Getz took over the following offseason as our Director of Player Dev, and Sosa appeared stateside in Arizona, where he stood out as perhaps the first international signing in like half a decade to not be completely miserable at the plate. He had no power, but he wasn't striking out 60% of the time. He then spent 5.5 years, slowly climbing the organization. He mostly survived as a young player in older leagues, before breaking out in AA as a 22 year old where he suddenly found power. He was promptly called up where we all learned that power was all you can really find in the white sox org. You find Power, you find velocity. Everything else? they are unfindable. A player for 5.5 years in Chris Getz teachings arrives, where we can see what it's like for someone to be taught the way JR always wanted. The result? Someone who appears underprepared at the plate, on the field, and on the basepaths. He goes back and forth between AAA and the big leagues, and it is all the same. Lenyn Sosa arrived a reported 6'0 and 180 lbs, and stands today at 6'0 and 180 lbs. That's true and also a good metaphor. Despite 615 games since he arrived in Chris Getz teaching, he has very little learned. I think about this when I read Colson Montgomery reports. The most alien like figure I"ve ever seen arrive in this org. Truly the opposite traits of like every other player. And we see "he'll need to develop if he wants to stay at short". Well, I'd say lets just hope he survives at 3rd.

Exactly. This is bigger than the team on the field—the brand has been completely destroyed beyond repair. This is a product of not a few bad decisions, but decades of bad decisions. The Sox logo—once endeared—literally angers people now. It’s a symbol of total betrayal as far as baseball and sports “fanship” goes. I do not believe ownership/upper management understands either. We’re still throwing the Nicky Lopez’s of the world at this problem. No one respects what this organization has become. It’s built on endless spins and elusive narratives that turn out to be blatantly false—straight lies. Because of this—any possibility of positive intent is met with disbelief. It will take decades of sustained success to rebuild what these people have done to the White Sox brand.

When it was season ticket renewal time in the fall last year the communication was "we are not going through another rebuild". I was one of the suckers who renewed.

I don't disagree on the overall losing culture of Chicago teams, but those 50s/60s Sox teams were actually really good. They just had the misfortune (like everyone else in the league) of playing at the same time as the NY Yankees of the 50s and 60s, when they were at their most dominant.

As Jerry himself has said he makes enough from his negotiated domestic and international deals to cover his payroll before a single ticket is sold, a single car is parked and a single beer is sold. To understand Jerry it comes down to basically this, he wants to win but he wants to win HIS WAY. That is keeping salaries low since he still feels players make to much money, not hiring top of the line managers and coaches because, as he has said, that don't impact the game that much, not investing that much in the farm system/player development because as he has said he doesn't believe in paying for "potential", he also doesn't want to take the time and effort at his age to really deal with massive change. He has a large ego and that ego won't admit his way simply doesn't work. When I put out my story on the State of the Sox in November 2022, I specifically asked about JR and these were some of the replies: “JR is 86 and he’s in great shape, he looks good, still drives himself around but I just think at this point he simply doesn’t want to be bothered with having to bring in a new front office, maybe he thinks in a few years it won’t matter anyway.” “People, his friends… have tried to tell him what has been going on, “Hawk” Harrelson, the late Ed Farmer… God rest his soul, Darrin Jackson, Scott Reifert (Author’s Note: Scott is the Senior Vice-President for Communications) , Bob Grim and others but it’s just not registering for some reason.” “I wonder what impact his wife passing away earlier this year has had on him.” “JR has told his family he does not want any of his sons owning the team when he is gone. As someone who has been coaching 11-13 year olds for about 2 years now, this is a misconception. The majority of the balls I see get hit to RF because the majority of these kids all swing late. I use to think with the same mindset of stick the worst kid in RF but that was quickly proving to be costly. At least for the 11 year olds and up range.

It only took Chris eight months to build the worst team we have ever seen. Impressive.

Outside of the box? For the White Sox? A normal interview process where we bring in lots of outside candidates without connections to the owner or GM and we do honest interviews with them to learn what outside views of the organization look like so that we get a good and honest assessment of the on the field product and the best way to move forward.

These guys are literally all playing for their careers. I don’t think anyone is just “going through the motions”. They just aren’t any good.

And Amed Rosario has played 2B, SS, and RF for the Rays, currently sports an .843 OPS, and signed for $1.5 million. I also wanted him THIS OFFSEASON, not in April after a historically bad start. You will argue he would have never signed here, which is fine. But I still don’t think you even understood my post. I wouldn’t have even bothered to sign Pham when Getz did. The season is already lost so do you really think it matters either way? Are you truly excited for Pham to join this 3-20 team, soon to be 3-21 team, and save them? Clevinger too? It just further proves what an awful job Getz did this offseason. The guy had to sign additional reinforcements well into the start of the season because his roster was so awful.

Just in case anyone was wondering. They are bad at the thing Getz said they'd be good at. Also, they were 25th last year.
