  1. I no longer think it's going to be Getz.

  2. Either this is phenomenal parody, you've lost your sanity following this team, or you forgot to login to an alternate account.

  3. Let me say this much. There is nothing wrong with interviewing Ozzie. The guy's life has been baseball, and he is going to see things that the others don't, especially when it comes to the Latin kids. The body language, culture, ways to approach them etc are things that aren't the same as American raised kids. Bringing him in to talk about what he saw and what he would do could hold a lot of value, just like any of the guys they bring in. But don't fucking hire the guy. Jesus, do not hire that clown again.

  4. Found our new manager and hitting coach

  5. But does that really prove anything? We all know that Ozzie and his family are very discreet.

  6. Maybe they don't like him as much as we all don't.

  7. I refuse to believe they’d hire Ozzie, but the sheer notion is terrifying. I legit hate Jerry Reinsdorf for making us suffer through these nightmares.

  8. That is true, but maybe they do something with the coaching staff. The fact is, they can't win if these guys don't go back to hitting homers.

  9. What about the defensive struggles?

  10. Of all the things for someone to get upset about, Frank Thomas hitting third in a lineup is not one I'd expect.

  11. No manager yet/ Phillies still playing/ Espada out of the running. Kevin Long had a second interview. Do the math. It’s Long unless Reinsdorf does his thing.

  12. I'd like to see Ozzie back. He'd be good for 3-5 years before he wears out his welcome again.

  13. Espada is clearly the best candidate, at least according to people who have never spoken to him and just know he sits next to Dusty watching the Astros win. Yet, not just the White Sox, but others are passing on him too.

  14. No, it really is the worst idea.

  15. At this point just say f*** it and go with Ozzie. The zombie show we got with LaRussa was so soul sucking, having Ozzie going insane once a week will at least give us some entertainment while we fight back tears from the team disappointing us once again

  16. Great now I get to be upset the Sox blew signing Mark McGuire in the mid 90s.

  17. The Sox couldn’t pay Harper, Machado, or Wheeler over $100M but they are gonna give that to Nimmo? That’s how you know those accounts sniff glue before tweeting.

  18. There was an athletic article in osney(?) or whomever the Astros manager was that had Ozzie jr or whatever the other brother was yelling at everyone in the comments lol. They are the most online of baseball families.

  20. Jeter made Arod move to 3rd. Listen roids aside it certainly is a sliding doors moment that probably leads to a WS for the sox or leads to the same situation where the strike ruins it BUT These examples are silly to me or frank seems right. Here's a fun anecdote from me interviewing lance johnson when I was 8: "Me: Why don't you learn how to fucking hit so you can provide better protection to the rest of the lineup instead of blaming the best player on the team for not giving up at bats? Johnson: Wow"

  22. Why did Lance Johnson think Thomas would get pitched around more in the three hole with Ventura, Bell and Bo hitting behind him than hitting five with the likes of Pasqua, Sax and Karkovice behind him? And why did Johnson think having a guy OPS 1.033 in the three hole would cost the Sox a chance at a World Series? And was Lamont really stupid enough the even consider moving Frank to a spot where he would see no good pitches to give Bell and Ventura better pitches? And did Pearlman consider how ridiculous Johnson's quote was when he chose to publish it?

  23. Not that it even needs to be mentioned, but Bo is the freaking man.

  24. With the offensive struggles, it does make sense they hire an offensive guy.

  28. So negotiations with players are illegal right now, but 12 teams have bid 100m. Ok.

  29. I don't think he'll come cheap. But I also don't think the Sox would pay him $100M, which is what I implied in my post.

  33. I'm not a fan of Ozzie at all, but oddly enough he may be what this team needs. At the very least, I'd enjoy him getting angry during the tough times.

  34. In hindsight, how much of the crying was about stuff like “he’s padding his stats by walking and not helping us win”, the same kind of stupid old school baseball stuff that has people complaining he didn’t want to hit 5th in this page? Now we better understand that “that insane monster has a f***ing .487 OBP, shut up about asking him to bunt” was the correct response.

  36. While I don’t doubt that early in his career Frank Thomas was a jerk, let’s also not forget that the organization didn’t treat him well either. Can we think of any other hall of fame caliber player whose contract got a Diminished Skills Clause?

  37. There is something to be said for the Godfather philosophy if you really want a player bad enough, "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse..."

  38. I still have no idea why people keep bringing Wheeler up as a failure. The Sox didn't land him because Wheeler's wife is from New Jersey.

  39. No chance that entire family could keep their mouth shut if Ozzie was coming back. Especially with how much enjoyment they get out of sticking it to Sox fans.

  40. Ivan Calderon and Mike Huff are not exactly interchangeable names. He was pretty much the best player on a number of those mid to late 80s teams.

  41. Nightengale posted it like a week or so before hand, and everyone laughed at it. Then it came back up and people started freaking out.

  42. Since Ozzie appears open to accepting the position, I will be so disappointed if the Sox don't make him the manager for 2023. This team can win with a brilliant mastermind like Ozzie calling the shots and It would be worth every penny to make him the highest paid manager in MLB.

  43. He should. Not many teams are playing service time games anymore And a team that's supposed to be a contender absolutely shouldn't be playing those games any way. He's a good fielder . He left handed he hits for power. I thought he should've been up at the end of last year to get acclimated to RF at home and to get some experience in a pennant race. Other's disagreed siting service time of course. Backwards thinking. It's better he get some growing pains out of the way in a season that was going down the tubes or at worst desperately needed defensive and offensive help from the left side and in RF. So the Sox either feel he wasn't ready or they wanted to wait til May w/e it is to get as much time from him as possible while sacrificing wins . If you want guys to have 150 game seasons it's best to call them up and let them play and contribute as soon as they can. He's already 24 why f*** with him? He's already lost too much much developmental time to going from Cuba to Japan and to the US. It's fairly amazing he got his act together in one year in the states. He deserves a reward not more " I own and want to make sure I own you as long as possible" BS.

  44. Sadly I think this is not necessarily a reflection of the fans being overzealous as much as not trusting the F.O. at all and hoping they go based off of resume/best org. The best-run franchises of late have been hiring former players/internal managers. I don't think any Sox fan trusts the sox to know the good interpersonal skills people for that. So instead, you'd point to: Melvin (no brainer), Kevin Cash (bullpen coach for Francona), Cora (WS bench coach though obviously a down year). I think even in recent history, the first Ozzie hire was very popular. Sox fans from my memory were obsessed with that Marlins team (not surprising, it slayed the Yankees and Cubs) and he was their 3b coach and popular former player. Manuel didn't work out, but I don't think anyone has a problem with trying out a 3b coach from the mid 90s expos and then Leyland's WS Marlins. So I guess when our off-resume signings fail, I think fans want to go back to the IBM of coaching candidates. You would think Hahn/JR/KW would also feel that way, but JR at this point prioritizes conformity and congeniality to winning.
