  1. I think Colas can get injured all by himself. But maybe Robert can show him how to get dizzy.

  4. I don't see how Grifol couldn't be anything but a huge improvement. Just his excitement and energy alone will be such a breath of fresh air.

  6. Largely the same roster, minus Abreu, Rodon, and Hendriks...

  7. I....don't agree. Largely the same roster won 93 games 2 years ago with Tony punting the 2nd half of the season. Lots of things will need to go right for this team to win 90 games, but that certainly isn't the ceiling.

  8. Ken Giles is holding a showcase this morning. Sox should have interest you would think with Crochet missing some time and Hendriks out for at least most of the season.

  9. I think Chicago can definitely support a second NFL team but from what I understand the Bears can block another team from moving to Chicago which they would most certainly do. George McCaskey must have been elated when the Cardinals left town. No more local competition for football fans.

  13. Keep in mind that Vaughn skipped AA and AAA. So the last two seasons were like his AA and AAA seasons, except he had to face major league pitching. His ceiling is much higher.

  15. Look at the total attendance for the first day weekday game after opening day. That is pretty much it.

  16. Sounds like you treat baseball as some sort of "pastime." Sad. Are you aware that if you get angry enough you can control the direction of the team through sheer force of will and fanpower?

  17. I literally JUST put in Solider Field to Arlington Heights on my phone, it says 37 minutes. Also, those 90 minute drives are gonna be a real problem for all those 6pm Friday night Bears games...

  19. The taxpayers of Illinois and Arlington Heights are going to be asked to pick up a significant part of the tab in building a new Bears stadium and entertainment district. I say hell no to all of that. I'm cool with the Bears moving but they should have to finance everything themselves like Sofi stadium was. Or the Bears could just take out a nice loan from the NFL to help finance the stadium.

  20. Yeah this article and all the quotes in it could have been written by chapgpt or whatever, it essentially says nothing, BUT I think I’m ready to transition, mentally, from feeling like s%*# about how poorly the front office has handled the offseason to just rooting for the players on the field. So that feels alright.

  24. Grifol will be a huge improvement, but even the perfect manager making perfect decisions isn't going to win 90 games with this roster.

  25. LA has shown you don't yet fans to back the team, just the owners and the NFL. The Bears get Arlington - Khan gets Soldier Field and a EPL game comes to the U.S.

  27. I don't think baseball can work as well in the suburbs as football. There are only 8-9 home games and they're almost all on weekends. Baseball has 81 home games on all days of the week. Moving any direction from the city really hurts your attendance from one part of the metro area.

  29. I usually go to 10-15 games a year with a handful of friends. I probably will go to at least one to spend time with those friends, but I don’t want to. I’ve never been less excited about baseball in my life. My heart has been broken by this organization.

  31. Saw a 70s WMAQ radio ad with Harry Jimmy and Lorn Brown and was reminded when sometimes the big dog like Harry would do radio for the middle three innings. Not a bad way to get some variety in your broadcast. Brings back some memories.

  32. 1. Arlington Heights is 35 minutes away from Solider Field. Let's stop pretending the Bears are moving to Calgary. 2. Anyone that has gone to a game at Solider Field the last decade (plus) knows how much of a nightmare it is to get there and leave, not to mention the stadium always having the worst field conditions in the league 3. Because of the location, there is very little room for expansion (the video the city created in a last ditch effort is a bigger fantasy than Star Wars) and Arlington Heights will allow them to create an entire entertainment district around the stadium, plus allow the franchise to actually own the building and make it a venue that can be used 365 days out of the year. Most Bears fans are excited/optimistic about the idea of the Bears finally leaving Solider.

  33. I'm not lying when I am 100% confident that if you took a group of 20 of us on Sox Talk and we split the pay/duties of Hahn & Marketing that we could build a much more successful franchise. I'm sure we have a few lawyers tip toeing on this site. Probably a few marketers. We have enough common sense on the board, we also have the crazy out there thinkers that could throw in out there ideas. Give us $180mm payroll and I'm pretty certain we'd have this at a 95 win team with a future too. Idea 1: Let's not make the fans hate their experience before they even get out of their car to go into the game. Idea 2: Let's shorten the security lines so the fans don't double hate their experience before they get into the gates Idea 3: Let's follow more of the Atlanta Falcons model so the fans don't want to shoot themselves for spending $14 on beer and $8 stale hot dogs/buns before they even sit in their seats You know, simple things. Idea 4: Have grilled onion stations and fans in each section to waft that beautiful smell into my nostrils continuously.

  34. The Bears in Arlington will sell out. NFL doesnt give a s%*# about optics they put two teams in LA that nobody wants, If Chicago lines up Khan and the $2B renovation why wouldnt he move. The Bears somehow ponying up a billion dollars seems out of character to me but maybe Virgina is assumed to sell but that appears to be a JR scenario. The Bears are cheaper than the White Sox.

  35. When I use to work for a living it was hard going to the White Sox games. Now that I'm retired I'm glad to be a season ticket holder. I'm in a 20 game package and I usually go to at least 30 games a year. I'm thankful to be able to do this. I love the team win or lose. Its the only team and only sport I care about and I'm glad to renew every year.
