  2. I think you just have to play Eloy in RF. He’s going to get hurt even if he’s the DH so might as well.

  4. TA also appears to hate getting on base, or hitting for power.

  5. The drop in defensive skill at 3B from Moncada to Burger (or Alberto for that matter) is dramatic. Moncada is damn near elite at 3B. Plus, we might be seeing "odd year" Moncada offensively here in 2023. You really don't want to do anything that could change his mental approach to the game. Not that the Sox are a particularly good team, but good teams don't significantly sacrifice defense at one of the toughest positions. Burger deserves to continue playing DH, especially with Eloy on the shelf (again). When Eloy comes back, there may have to be some tough decisions. If Burger is still tearing the cover off the ball, you need to find a way to play him most games. But you don't do that by moving Moncada to 2B.

  6. Moving Yoan to 2nd base narrative needs to stop. Short sighted WS fans want to move a potential gold glove 3rd baseman to play a position that he did not play well when tried earlier in his career. This is such a white sox thing. I agree Burger needs to play but not by moving Yoan.

  8. Moving Yoan back to 2B is not now nor will it ever be the right thing. Holy s%*# how is this still a thing?

  12. For those scoring at home. In the first inning he has 9 total bases and 15 strikeouts. My issues with him are laziness at SS and leading off. The White Sox treat him like a player he is not.

  13. The Sox have scored three runs or less in 25 of the 45 games played. 55% of all games. That's what happens when you have a few automatic outs in the lineup to go along with a bunch of undisciplined free swingers.

  15. (Sox win a couple of games) - Thread is started on how they might be able to come back this season. (Sox swiftly show why they will in fact, not, come back this season) This appears to be the cycle for the rest of the year around here. Its over guys, accept it.

  17. Remember when he pulled the "we gave who what?" in regards to 10D. That one sure didn't age well for TA, you're the same hitter profile just right handed pal.

  23. Did you watch Burger everyday at third the last couple of weeks before he was Injured? The gap is closing. Not to mention almost nobody believes Moncada is a part of the long term future of the organization at this point.

  24. This team did not pan out as they planned. So at this point, I say just put all your sluggers in the lineup and let them bang away and have some fun. Vaughn 1B; Moncada 2B; Burger 3B; Anderson SS; Benintendi LF; Robert CF; Eloy/Sheets RF; Grandal/Zavala C; Sheets/Eloy DH. Late innings you can move Moncada back over to 3B, insert Andrus at 2B and Hasely/Marisnik in RF for defensive substitutions if need be. Maybe this team could be something like the '77 Southside Hit Men.

  25. It's simple. Everyone that's not Luis Robert plays a new position. Tim Anderson is catcher, that's our layup. Benintendi? DH. Yoan? First base. Burger? Right. Vaughn? Shortstop. Sheets/Eloy? Second base. Yasmani? Third base. Hanser? Left field.

  26. It's very simple! When Eloy comes back, Burger cannot be on the bench nor can he play part time. Either he plays DH and Eloy moves to the outfield, which I know could be a disaster. Or the better thing move Moncada to second. Everyone is posting how Moncada is the better offensive player over Burger and that is not true. Besides the fact Moncada does not have anything close to Burger's HR power, he is behind Jake in most other offensive metrics: AVG OBP SLG OPS ISO BABIP wRC wRAA wOBA wRC+ WAR Burger .278 .348 .747 1.095 .468 .400 20 9.3 .447 189 1.2 Moncada .310 .344 .534 .879 .224 .363 10 2.9 .336 140 0.5 In the history of the game many players have made position changes. He won't be the first or the last. Plus we are not asking Moncada to learn a new position like Vaughn and Sheets had to do. My god, he played second base his entire life and even a short time for the Sox. He was traded here as a second baseman and not a third baseman. If he such an amazing athlete and player as so many claim here, then he can make the adjustments at 2nd. For now I agree Moncada is a better third baseman than Jake. However Jake has played well this year and not been bad there as in the past. He made a huge improvement on his game at 3rd. Even if Moncada is not as good at 2nd, he is at least better than Andrus and Alberto at 2nd. Moncada's offense is worth playing him at 2nd and it will easily outweigh and justify Moncada at 2nd versus any of the other White Sox slugs at 2nd. I seriously don't like Eloy playing outfield. That is an injury IL waiting to happen. Plus these moves won't be for that long as most have agreed in here, several players will be traded at the deadline and Moncada will probably be one of them.

  27. If they get back to .500, that means they would've gone on a nice run to get there. And .500 gets you in the hunt in the AL Central. Oh no, they are sucking me back in again.

  28. Moncada, Burger, Vaughn, Sheets, Eloy and Benentendi. 6 guys for 5 spots. They all play 5 out of 6 days and see what happens.

  34. I forgot Eloy was even on the team, jeez. This argument is moot anyway because another injury to someone will free up a spot and solve the logjam before it becomes a real concern.

  35. (1) He's really not. -.2 DWAR this year and .6 DWAR last year are not "elite" ... and if he hits .626 OPS like last year, his defense is irrelevant. However, this is also NOT the issue. (2) The issue is which combination puts the team in best position to win: 3B Moncada / 2B Andrus <---- Burger is not playing, or else you are log jamming with Sheets/Eloy/Vaughn which has been exhaustively proven to NOT work for 2 years now 3B Burger / 2B Andrus <----- Andrus sucks, why would you do this? 3B Burger / 2B Moncada <---- this is the obvious best choice; it puts the two better players on the field despite the potential defensive issues.

  37. Meanwhile: Lenyn and Oscar continue to crush it in AAA. I just wish it could translate to the bigs. Sosa went 1-5, but it was an oppo HR and he's hitting .386. Colas went 1-3 with a walk, no strike outs. Hitting .386. Clint Frazier with his first Knight's homer. Gladney is having fun.

  38. To be fair, the top picks when the Sox did have a top 4 pick: 2014: Brady Aiken, Tyler Kolek, Carlos Rodon. The other two teams psyched themselves out of picking Rodon and the Sox made the easy best pick. I know Schwarber went next - and the top 13 includes Nola, Conforto and Turner - but Aiken, Kolek and Rodon were the consistently mocked top trio, and Schwarber was a shocker. 2018: Casey Mize, Joey Bart, Alec Bohm, Nick Madrigal, Jonathan India, Jarred Kelenic Yeah. India or Kelenic would have been a better grab. 2019: Adley Rutschman Jr., Bobby Witt Jr., Andrew Vaughn. I think Vaughn's doing fine and should get the benefit of the doubt after being rushed to play OF. But man, do I wish the Sox could have lost 5 more games for Witt (there was no way they were making up 15 games for Adley).

  40. I can think of him, Garret Crochet, and Dane Dunning off the top of my head of guys that it seemed obvious they were going to need Tommy John surgery but the White Sox pushed it back and tried to have them work through it and avoid surgery. Have the Sox had success with anyone actually avoiding TJ or do they just cost themselves several months worth of recovery time constantly?

  44. What a day of golf. One of my current players was in the first round of the state finals. Struggled a lot but gained a ton of experience. Highlight was holing out an eagle shot from 125 yards. A former player won a sudden death playoff to advance with her partner to the match play portion of the USGA Women's Four Ball. Another shot -2 in the NCAA D1 Regionals with his team now in first place with a great chance of advancing. Live scoring is my favorite bit of technology. I can keep up with them all.
