What kind of player will he be once he gets his money again? The timing seems awfully coincidental.7 points

Its always been a health thing for Yoan. He's a fantastic defensive 3B. He doesn't need to be that good of a bat to a well above average contributor. At this point, I will certainly not argue with anyone that hates him and says he's a cancer. I am not convinced he's a true clubhouse problem, but I think its more than he just doesn't care all that much. The reality of the situation is that Yoan is going to be here next year unless Getz eats like $20M+. I don't see that happening. So I am hoping to see a really nice first half from Yoan, and maybe Sox can move him at the deadline for a lottery ticket and some $ for JR's pocket.5 points

Our real clubhouse cancers were traded away at the deadline. That's why our record has improved. ahh, alas it appears we are 13-26 since the deadline.4 points

I would counter that they need to better tailor their roster to the MLB3 points

I mean, they're also 27-48 on the road. I think they're just bad.3 points

The hits just keep on coming. https://patch.com/illinois/chicago/white-sox-ticket-practices-discriminates-against-disabled-suit The suit alleges the following: Fans cannot purchase the inventory of available accessible seats directly on the website. Restrictions on single game ADA ticket availability (upper deck or OF only until Sox eliminated from playoff contention). One of the plaintiffs was refused a change of his season ticket plan to a accessible plan.2 points

Almost impossible to fathom at the start of a year a situation where KW and Hahn would both be gone...but the result with Getz and Grifol returning is pretty much DAMPENING spirits of the majority of the fanbase. Still have two weeks left after this and the interest level is pretty much at an all time low except for going for the 100 loss mark lowlight. In fact, it's pretty hard to identify more than a couple of posters who adamantly argued for either of those two guys as GM or 2024 field manager.2 points

Consider the teams that are still hanging on that need a pitcher who has done well. There must be some quite insider stuff happening among execs that are not leaked to the public.2 points

I think I'm out until JR is no longer the owner, anyway, but this will certainly only help in that decision.2 points

If Clevinger is back on this team next year, I'm done. Sometimes for a player it isn't about stats. This isn't an A.J. Pierzynski situation and if Reinsdorf thinks that, then he's even more clueless than I can ever imagine. Clevinger is a grade A piece of s%*# and a cancer. The type of guy I'll never root for in any circumstance.2 points

I would have dumped Grandal and kept the better defensive Catcher in Zavala. He’d likely be dumped in the off-season but at least you’d have the depth.2 points

This is the case in the US. I haven't touched paper currency since 2019 except when traveling. Imagine everyone in the US had a cell phone that they used for every single transaction you make in daily life...and every single one went through the equivalent of Visa or MasterCard, except it was Alipay and Weixin Wallet instead. That's China. It's much faster...it's outside of the traditional banking system...but the government still has a ton of oversight and essentially or ultimately control in terms of regulations. One of the benefits is that let's say literally anyone can open a market stall and sell their wares online or off. Heck, lots of former teachers are making huge money livestream selling everything from lipstick to agricultural products. And it will be delivered to your door within hours...no more than a day or so, for less than $1 with no tipping. Labor costs being so low is what makes the entire system work...along with the cultural mores where tipping just doesn't exist. (Japan also has no tipping but perhaps the best customer service level in the entire world. And it's not even close.) And speaking of Covid...one of the first storylines pushed out there was that paper currency could spread the disease. So that false belief and propaganda pretty much overnight pushed the entire country of 1.4 billion to accept this type of cashless payment system without any serious/significant pushback.2 points

He's just lazy. He's playing well now because next year is a contract year and he's deciding to care.2 points
-
He is what he is. A constant injury waiting to happen. Anyone is foolish to think he will return to 2019 Yoan and let’s be honest here when it matters he doesn’t show up. As soon as you can dump him you do it and don’t think twice about it.2 points
-
I think health has always been his biggest issue. He definitely seems healthy now, and he hasn't looked this good for a long time. Let's hope he actually does what he said he'd do and prepare better during the off season.2 points

Yes, and now the people who depended on cash tips are SOL. The government knows how much you get in tips, as well as the owners likely taking a percentage. And I’m sure the amount of stolen cards being used is not insignificant.2 points

First thing they need to do is acquire a young, inexpensive power hitting third baseman with about six years of control.2 points

To be honest with you, I don’t see anything Dave Wilder said to be relevant. He was a minority outsider hired by the White Sox, something he said JR refused to do. He also said no one ever tried to get his side of his story until now. Total BS. I did a quick google search, and there is an article stating the Tribune asked for his side, he hung up. If anything, Wilder being an outsider, stealing from JR, might make JR even less likely to hire unknown people. His race plays no part. If he was white and did what he did, he wouldn’t be in baseball right now. Dave Wilder is a disgrace, and he still thinks although what he did was technically wrong, he has a legit excuse for it. How come no one else has hired him? He is blaming JR for his troubles. He just loved that someone gave him a chance to be relevant again. I’m sure after this article, if any team was even tempted to give him a low level role, they are tempted no more.2 points

The shrimp are pretty good. I know a few people that say it’s the best thing on their menu. I wouldn’t go that far though.1 point

Not to be a broken record, but how in the hell does Pedro keep his job? This team has flat out quit and I cannot think of 1 thing he is good at.1 point

A friend of mine asked yesterday (As he saw me celebrating another loss to KC), "Do you really want them losing 100 games, isn't that embarrassing?" I replied, " Hell yeah! Never have I wanted my Sox to lose more than right now and draw to themselves the same embarrassment they have caused to us fans. I want all those players and the Dildo Manager to carry that 100 loss season as part of their careers. Fucking Losers. ? And by the way, this team has flat out quit on the Dildo Manager. They never quit on Renteria, never quit on LaRussa, never quit on Cairo. But yet this ass clown is guaranteed a job next season?1 point

Ricky's boys didn't quit. Pedro's boys have mailed it in under him for months. And this is the guy Getz wants to bring back? The players clearly don't respect or want to go to war with him with their performance on the field.1 point

Most interesting part for me is when a member in the front office who never played the game belittled Gordon's actual MLB career, which he rightly said should always be a no no. He wouldn't name names. I guessed Hahn or Haber, but he spoke with passion about respecting effort.1 point

Still following the team but Jerry hasn’t seen a penny from me since spring training March 2, 2020. If he returns, I’m done with it all, and you will not see me again until Jerry is gone, and I return with this clip.1 point

ANd yet he refuses to do anything with that stance. I think he's proud of the fact he can ground a ball into right field when people are on base rather than hitting HR's. He's doing just what these hitting coaches are trying to make everyone do.1 point

I'd say for smaller businesses, there can be major costs involved that in many cases may not be feasible to implement. Most do not have the resources (staff, legal advice and financial) to know every single relevant law. It's hard enough managing through the various city, county and state laws to operate seemingly simple businesses. However, for billion dollar net worth entities like the White Sox and Ticketmaster, they have enough attorneys on hand to know the legalities, and at minimum can spend the 2 or so minutes to find the link posted here, and work with Ticketmaster and Boyer's ticket organization to implement. Plantiffs stated ADA requirements, but the Sox choose not to respond or implement, at one point telling Ralph Yaniz "their website is broken". Link to US District Court Lawsuit: https://www.accessliving.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Yaniz-v.-Chicago-White-Sox-9.13.23-Class-Action-Complaint.pdf ACA.gov link I provided is contained on page 4. You're trying to figure out how to get starting pitching. Urena gave you 6 strong. Why leave him in? All you can do at that point is destroy what he accomplished in 6 and let him take the ball in another 5 days with some confidence. Suck is here to stay but do you really think some of these AAA/AAAA BP arms are going to be around ?1 point

Or really? There's every indication suck is here to stay.1 point

On WSCR they were making fun of Pedro/Sox for apparently being literally the only team that wants him. Because they must be so much smarter. Last comment mine.1 point

Lol. There are two sides to every coin. There isn't the FDIC system here to insure bank deposits for example. OTOH...with the entire country and economy being so shaky and uncertain right now, the LAST thing the government can afford to do is something that will be universally unpopular that has to do with money. Just a few protests in December (mostly university students) last year crushed a three year old government Covid policy imperative. American politicians...OTOH...have almost zero fear of the electorate. It's a bit ironic that democracy worldwide has become increasingly non - responsive to the needs and wants of the majority of people. (All that said, freedom wins out for now...in the end. The problem is who is deciding the limits and scope of that freedom, though.)1 point

If my math is right, they’ve lost 24 of those 37 games. So he’s not much help anyway.1 point

Without getting into the various ways Covid was used to push through changes that would’ve otherwise been unpopular, I’m sure that the cashless system greatly benefits the owners while hurting the individual vendor.1 point
-
I just don’t understand the card only policy. It’s killing vendors as well. And I agree, they used Covid for this switch, but that makes no sense. The cash passed around supposedly would have spread the disease, but the vendors grabbing your card and everyone else’s wouldn’t? And it seems pretty ridiculous to have to tip someone 20% or feel like a cheap ass, for pouring you a $14 beer, suddenly making it almost $17. I’ve only gone to 4 or 5 games this year, and have bought nothing at the park. Red Hot Ranch double cheeseburger with fries and a coke is $10. McDonalds probably costs more, and isn’t as good.1 point
-
And this is exactly why if you are the Whitesox you should have waited until the end of the year to see who was available and do external interviews to make sure you brought in the best qualified GM1 point

Gio should dump the girl that he's currently with. Ever since he got with her, he's pitched like crap (friend of mine knows the Chicago industry girl he's currently dating... Can't speak if that was before or after the divorce).1 point
