Goddamnit SOMEONE STOP CHICAGO WHITE SOX, HE IS PLANNING THE PARADE ALREADY8 points

We're White Sox fans man, he'll set the Guinness Book of World Records for oldest human on earth.7 points

It’s the fucking NBA. You want an owner that will spend and bet big on stars, which is the opposite of what the Reinsdorf’s do. I can’t believe people are actually complaining about this.7 points

Caufield, sox give out some record contracts that fail i promise I won't be posting about how he ruined the White Sox.7 points

Day 1 post “guys, I have been here all along. pm me for use of any suite, on me, in the new park downtown” tray: 😡😤7 points

All billionaires are terrible - no such thing as a good one - but at least the Ishbia brothers have shown a commitment to spending and making a splash in the NBA. Additionally they absolutely would not move the team from Chicago. They like to spend money on toys and hopefully will be big spenders in baseball.7 points

I'll reserve some of my excitement until we get reports after next Friday when the deadline passes for the minority stake owners to sell their shares to Ishbia. That will make it more real to me.6 points
-
Jerry doesn't have a majority stake as much as he has majority share. In a perfect world, he doesn't have to sell, Ishbia buys out majority of minority stake to become majority owner, Jerry sells the rest post death.6 points

I dream of a world where the Sox end up building a stadium at the 78 with Justin Ishbia touring the new facility with Related just to see how Tray reacts.5 points

That lineup is worth watching…Meidroth alone is worth the price of admission.5 points

I sense some projection on your end. I'd argue that the vast majority of people overly sensitive to allegations of racism are, in fact, racist. If you called me racist, I'd laugh, probably not even address it, and forget about it in 5 minutes. Why? Because I'm not racist. My Mom's a fantastic woman and I'm grateful she allows me to stay in her basement. 2840 S Calumet. Come over. We can have a couple drinks, I'll let you sit on my lap and let you tell me that Robin was the most underrated 3rd baseman of the 90's. Maybe Mom will grab a steak sandwich from Ricobene's that us poors with sucky careers will split with you. For the record, I didn't wake up to make this late night post. Mom and I got s%*# housed at Bernice's, ran up a massive bill, split on it and took off running. She fell over at the underpass and I had to leave her. She's a tough chick. She'll be fine. She better make some meatloaf when she i-bond's. I don't make excuses for Getz. I wish he wasn't hired. I wish Jerry wasn't the owner. I love the idea of some billionaire buying the team and investing millions into the neighborhood, rebuilding and getting me and Mom out of the east side of the e-way. Until that happens, I recognize that Getz inherited the worst situation possible - an organization with little to no infrastructure, dated philosophies, relics for coaches, coming off an internal power struggle between the previous GM and President, and worst of all, a failed rebuild in which all but 1 player completely tanked their value (Cease). At least Getz is transparent about how much the job sucks and doesn't answer questions with trash like "stay out of White Sox business." He may have been the head of player development through it all, but he recognized that he didn't have the tools to compete and is doing everything in his power to change that. People fail. People make mistakes. People also learn and grow from those mistakes. Nobody knows how much the Sox need to change more than Getz. Even if he fails, we're back to where we've always been, me and Mom living in the Low End and the Sox being perpetually mediocre with a great logo and classy uniforms. Mom and I will also show you how to sneak into the Wells side tunnels that open up under the bleachers. We haven't paid for a game in years. Hopefully she doesn't accidentally shoot herself this year. That was awkward.5 points

Justin Ishbia isn’t backing out of Twins deal without some assurances that he’ll eventually assume control of the White Sox. He just wouldn’t. It makes no sense. Regardless of what the White Sox say publicly. It might not be soon though.5 points

Yep, and who cares if he outgrows SS if he starts showing that kind of power?4 points

I’m less interested in how the shares work and more excited that not buying the Twins makes it seem what their desired outcome is.4 points

I haven't seen @Chicago White Sox this excited since we traded for Chase Meidroth.4 points

As long as JR is around, he is going to have control. But why would you give up a bid to be the majority owner of an MLB team and have full control for anon conrrolling interest in another? He must have assurances he next up. Now, will JR sell why he's alive? I wouldn't think so unless there is someway he can offset his capital gains with capital losses. Maybe that 1901 project helps him there.3 points

I'm very familiar with the Ishbia's as I have been a supporter and follower of the Michigan State Basketball program for many years. As you know Justin's brother Matt played basketball at MSU and has been a huge financial supporter of MSU. I know Justin has always wanted to own a major league baseball team. He definately has the financial resources to do it. This would be hugely positive news if he was to become the majority owner. Unlike JR he would do whatever to field a championship team.3 points

Here is an unlocked link to article —> https://archive.ph/i7LRF For Ishiba to backout of the Twins pursuit, there HAS to be a spitshake agreement with the White Sox.3 points

Jerry approached him on this. There is 100% a bigger deal at play and him backing out of guaranteed control of a different club all but confirms that.3 points
-
We just saw this exact same construct with the Orioles purchase. Rubenstein bought a minority stake but received control of the team with an agreement to buy the Angelos’ shares upon his death. I’m assuming it’s going to be something very similar as Ishbia won’t want to wait for Jerry to die to take control when he could have just bought the Twins immediately.3 points

Ishbia will be the second richest owner in the entire MLB and is a Chicago resident. We have hit the motherfucking jackpot and somehow this thread is only at three pages. I’m literally celebrating this news all weekend. This is the day we have been waiting for for decades and it’s finally fucking here. Honestly, I can’t think of a better fucking owner on paper than Ishbia. I don’t know how everyone isn’t doing cartwheels right now. This is absolutely incredible.3 points
-
My fantasy is that Ishbia is an unknown member of the Soxtalk talk community who has built his wealth solely in the hopes of one day buying the Palehose....and once he purchases them he will throw $$$ at his beloved play thing and the Dodgers will complain about how all the best free agents are signing with the White Sox.3 points
-
Dan Gilbert has multiple titles and currently has rebuilt the Cavs into one of the best teams in the East if not the league, look at his ownership record come on man. The Suns are middling around .500 this season but the Ishbias have spent and have dealt with injuries, and haven’t been afraid to do things like acquire KD, previous two seasons have been playoffs. I mean, all owners in the end are uber rich people that kinda suck, not sure why you think these two guys specifically are worse.3 points
-
As other people in this thread have stated, what’s in it for Ishbia then? Why would he pass up on the Twins opportunity that would presumably allow him to take over quickly in favor of this where he could have to wait for years until Jerry dies? It just doesn’t make sense.2 points
-
How has this thead not summoned Lip? He's overdue to tell us that his sources told him nothing will happen until Jerry dies.2 points

@Balta1701 - That Kyle Tucker pipe dream might just be possible now. Might as well sign him and Guerrero. Meidroth, 2B C. Montgomery, SS* Tucker, RF* Guerrero, 1B B. Montgomery, LF# Teel, C* Quero, DH# Ramos, 3B Who Fucking Cares, CF2 points

I mean I’m not gonna complain about dollar beer night. I just think we should temper expectations that he is a complete opposite of JR until we see it happen.2 points
-
The brother who owns the Suns also introduced a “$2 value menu” last year to make going to a game more affordable for all fans. These guys aren’t looking to profit, they simply want to win. I’m blown away that after decades of Jerry we finally get his exact opposite and there are people still complaining. It’s absolutely mind-boggling.2 points

LA was a massive upgrade on St. Louis. No upgrade exists on Chicago. He wants a team here.2 points

Well said. I’ve always felt the potential of this franchise has never been realized. They had the chance to do so at the beginning of the last rebuild but failed. New ownership would change everything.2 points

A good owner can flip this valuation and really increase value if they manage Sox right. I believe they are a sleeping Giant - super undervalued relative to potential given size of Chicago market and extensive history.2 points

You're kind of correct. I wouldn't care if they signed Bozo to play SS. It would probably be on a minor league deal. Clevenger's a POS, and I hate the signing. I won't post everyday that I hate Getz for signing him, but I don't like it. I also get tired of the a-holes who think it's funny to pretend Clevenger was "completely exonerated". He wasn't. I hope he tears his rotator cuff on his first throw, and that's the last we see of him.2 points
