Tavares is pretty uninteresting to me. Low OBP. Ks 3x more than he walks. Is he an improvement on Palacios? Yah, sure. But I don't really see the need to pay the guy $5M or whatever he is owed to be bad.3 points

It’s 4-1 bases loaded and Schriffen thinks the batter is the tying run.3 points

Elko has averaged around 2 years older than league average throughout his career. Montgomery has averaged around 4 years younger than average. Yet it's time for Colson to "get off the pot?"3 points

Cute, but no. Perfect example is the Bryce Harper story from the other day. That story was anonymous sourced with no effort made at confirmation. Anyone with any sense should question that. This is directly from a primary source who observed these actions himself. In a day and age where people pick and choose what they believe based on whether they agree with it or not, it is much better to understand how to trace to source material to decide how much credence to put into something instead of do I like it or not. Definitely better than attacking the messenger because the message hurt your feelings.3 points

Nice games from Sosa, Quero, Robert and Meidroth and somehow Vasil went 2.1 of shut out ball. Helped by a slick double play started by Vargus. Quero and Meidroth have done wonders for keeping the offense moving and providing chances for runs. Both rocking an OBP of over .400 since coming up. That's probably the only time that's happened in a 100 or so PA sample in a long, long time. This team might not be historically awful anymore and is just plain old bad. We'll take it, if so.2 points

Some highlights of today's game. All 5 RBI were with 2 outs. 4 for 13 with RISP. 2 stolen bases. Robert stole second just ahead of the Quero single to give the Sox their 5th run . Wilson picked a runner off 2nd . Vasil 2.1 hitless relief lowering ERA to 0.92. 6 walks and 5 K from the hitters. O errors One DP turned. Quero now batting .340 with an OBP around .450 . Meidroth 2 walks and a SB. Robert 2 for 3 ,2 R, RBI, BB, SB Sosa 2 RBI hit + a BB.2 points

Just call it. Looks real nasty out there or something.2 points

Damn, look at that situational hitting by Lenyn Sosa2 points

Vaughn apparently is both dumb and lazy as he also doesn’t believe in using analytics to help change his swing & approach. I think I actually dislike him more than the other big busts from the prior rebuild like Yoan & Eloy.2 points

W-S lost 9-8. 1 strike from victory then a HR and 2 out rally. Zavala drive home lead run. He was also 3-4, triple short of the cycle. Looks like something may have clicked with him.2 points

Pinto, A ball, removed after 2/3 inning and 17 pitches probably not good. Jeral Perez 3 for 4 with a homer.2 points

Right!? Sox fans crack me up. I've been as hard on Colson as anyone, but "s%*# or get off the pot" time is at least two years away. Dude just turned 23. And the rest of the fanbase is ready to anointp Tim Elko, who is the same age as AV, the savior of the franchise.2 points

White Sox fans guide to what is credible and what is a lie. Negatives are truth Positives are lies You'll be correct 90% of the time. The culture just keeps getting carried down for over a century. Send everyone to Nashville, call them the Nashville Cats then place an expansion White Sox team in Chicago.2 points

That's about the 12th ex player or minor leaguer who has now spilled the beans on no longer open secrets in the organization. A microscope on every hidden corner and dark secret of the organization is kind of refreshing. After all...that's the ONLY thing that will serve to bring about needed reforms/modernizations in the "good 'old boys" way of running (what needs to be a more highly-modernized) an organization like it's STILL the 1980s.2 points

True or not true, Osik is a dick for spreading those accusations about another player. As for AV, judge him from his performance at the plate and on the field. Me, I just don't understand why AV hasn't made adjustments to his stance, leg kick, and approach at the plate. He knows he needs to hit home runs to remain in the starting line-up so he often gets pull happy, strikes out or hits into some maddening, rally-killing double plays. I have not seen Elko other than hone run highlights. Maybe he is worth trying at DH, but if it was me, I'd rather bring up Kyle Teel.2 points

That swing was because of the s%*# strike zone. Good ABs that inning with 2 outs. Too bad they couldn't convert.1 point

Not to dance on his grave but funny that Hostetler used to always say “makeup separates” and then with his two premier picks he chooses two guys with zero physical growth potential that you had to assume had great makeup. But instead it was Madrigal and Vaughn.1 point

Colson's issue this year is he is swinging out of the zone way too much. His O-zone swing rate has exploded for some reason, but he's taking more pitches in the zone. Might be cheating for the fastball too much. You don't get a 42% K rate cuz you're swinging at strikes.1 point

It seemed almost obvious (except perhaps to the coaching staff) that Martin could not find a pitch to get Jake Meyers out in the 4th. At that point you intentionally/unintentionally walk him or hit him with a fastball after which the Manager takes a slow walk to the mound to get someone warming up. Of course, who might that be? Murf? Sox need pitching help badly.1 point

Per baseball savant, he also doesn’t have a good launch angle when he barrels the ball very often, so it ends up on the ground way too much.1 point

The guy isn’t worth a million, yet stupid Getz paid him $6 million because the Sox basically didn’t want to admit that they made a bad draft pick.1 point

You can't have preconceived notions though. What if he actually adjusts to MLB and does well ? He's the type of guy you love as a GM . Look how far he has risen above expectations already. Fans love an underdog. Mark Buerhle was beloved. Fans loved Palka and Yermin Mercedes and Carlos Quentin. Producing from humble beginnings is what Murica is all about.1 point

Jaime Navarro and whoever the Sox manager was in 1998. I was in Seattle on vacation and watched all 4 of a F-M series, with 4 1-run losses. Navarro, pitching out of the pen, must have set a world-record in walks. And the manager, my goodness, one game we're down 5 in the ninth, the first 3 guys single, and Ventura hits a GS to close to within 1. The next guy gets a single. Still nobody out. And then they start bunting....5 straight hits and you're bunting! Sox kind of went on a roll after that though. And 2 or so years later, prior to the 2000 season, a miracle happened: the Brewers traded for Navarro which was addition by subtraction; but the Sox also got 2 solid players in return.1 point

Give Elko 2-3 weeks and just bench Vaughn then. Maybe that will snap him out of it. Record doesn't even matter so much as progress towards 4-5 younger players establishing themselves as keepers going forward before Schultz/Smith/Taylor arrive. Elko getting that dreamed of shot heartens the hopes of everyone else at Birmingham and below in the Sox minors...the belief that promotions are merit/performance-based and not just this political BS of playing favorites with some players over others. And for God's sake Amaya and Palacios are AAAA players getting all kinds of opportunities. Maton in his late 20's. Enough.1 point
