  1. Schriffen: "Sox down two in the bottom of the ninth. Vargas up with a chance to send the sox to the World Series." Crack "Fly ball into right fieeeellllddd OHHH channels erkel DID IIII DOOOO THAAAAAT!!!!!"
  2. Hope all is good Mike. seems all the big mlb tweeters are all gangbanging you on the PCA 30HR tweet

I don’t think it’s ever time to panic during a player’s draft year. If he’s struggling next year, then I’ll be worried.

    Bonemer goes deep again.
  5. Sounds like you need a smoke break.
  6. I assume most offenses around the league are mostly feast or famine and we just don't see it because we aren't watching.
  7. Kay vs. Holmes. Feels like a very winnable game to me. Holmes isn’t very good and the Braves are mediocre against LHP. Braves also just got swept by the Twins and could be pressing a bit. I like our chances tomorrow if we get the good version of Kay. Let’s fucking go!!
  8. I hope to God the players and/or management aren't fragile enough to worry about coaching advice from fans. If they are, they deserve whatever happens.
  9. I'm going to chalk this one up to bad luck and being emotionally and physically exhausted after the Cubs series and having back to back day games after probably getting home around 1-2am on Tuesday night.
  10. Just make postseason and the year is a raging success. Would hate for them not to make it after being in such good position and lose fan momentum heading into possible lockout.
  11. I would love one more crack at one of those teams this season.
  12. Flat after playing 6 playoff like games in a row?
  13. WE GO FROM BLOWING OUR CHALLENGES IN THE FIRST INNING TO NOT USING THEM IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 9TH. WHAT THE f***
  14. One thing being drowned out by all the retired professional baseball players here is that Trevor Richards has been turned into a pretty solid bullpen piece from a waiver wire nobody.
  15. Not sure why we're hellbent on proving Doyle was a good pickup (he wasn't) by inserting him into every situation possible.
  16. I feel like umpiring lately has just been so much worse than earlier this year.
  17. Braden should have been the one challenging, it was a ball called a strike. The Chase challenge was ill advised, it was clearly a strike. We need more contact from the Montgomerys , and maybe they should not be hitting back to back as they strike out too often. IMO.
  18. The over reactions in here are wild. Holmes had 9 hard hit balls and gave up 1 hit. Kay had 6 and gave up two runs. Sometimes baseball just happens. There isn’t much to take from the game other than Kay looked good and baseball happened.
  19. Our hitters hate using challenges when it would actually work.
  20. A future Matt Thornton type. At some point, I'll give my powerpoint lecture about how Thornton was one of the greatest set up men of all time.
  21. He was. My camp counselor growing up was cousins with Paul. CJ wasn't even a great hitter, definitely a defensive first catcher (one of the all time great defensive catchers IMO) but he had an insane year that year.
  22. Is he talking about the Village of Bedford Park ?
  23. I'll be there. Time for this team to get hot.
  24. Golly gee Wally, that's a great idea!
  25. This team has more limitations than our record shows and we are still playing well and competing with the tops team in the league every time we face them. We have overachieved by a lot, nobody on this board or who is a fan of this team thought in a million years we would be 5 games above .500 and in 1st place on August 19th. Venable has questionable decisions just like every manager even ones with All star rosters.
  26. I don’t think Steve hates his partners as much as people online seem to think he does. Sure sometimes it seems like he might be slightly annoyed. I don’t think he overtly dislikes John, Jason, or even Hawk. Otherwise he wouldn’t have stuck around for 2 decades.
  27. I remember the Charles Johnson run that year. Great trade. The other catcher on that team was Josh Paul, of Buffalo Grove HS. I liked him because I grew up about 5 minutes from BG HS so thought it was cool a local kid was on the Sox. I believe Josh Paul was also the catcher for the Angels in the infamous AJ drop 3rd strike in the 2005 ALCS Johnson added another huge bat to a stacked lineup though. The only weak spot was Chris Singleton, who had a rough year at the plate in 2000. Everybody else mashed. But like you said, the pitching just could not hold up. I remember being so sad after the sweep lol.
  28. Loved the 2000 team. I was 9 years old and it was the first year that I really got all in on the Sox. Probably the best offense the Sox have ever had, followed maybe by 2006.
  29. I heard that he was HBP recently and didn't look happy about it, wonder if it's related to that
  30. Can we please have our ABS challenges available for when these guys have to come in? I’m talking to you, Antonacci.
  31. To me Schrif is like a little brother, annoying and a pest but you got his back.
  32. A Schrif & Plesac duo is White Sox broadcast destiny, LOL.
  33. 100% John is not perfect and times there is too much "everything is awesome" when it comes to the WS. However, I love john's enthusiasm and his calls. His calls are different then what we are use too. I love that fact that John is not a cookie cutter MLB play by play announcer. You can turn on a game and most of these dudes sound the same. Some of you don't like him and never will. That is fine but there is nothing wrong with different.
  34. We're gonna be on this revolving door from hell and somehow end up with a Billy Carlson / Christian Oppor catching tandem.
  35. He’s hysterical where you can hear him seething and holding himself back from telling Schriff to shut the f*** up. 😆
  36. Or just let us dislike him in peace and keep your opinion to yourself?
  37. In before the race card gets played again to say that Stone should have retired 10 or 15 years ago, and even if Schiff isn't good at his job, literally every one else they bring in when Stone isn't there sounds better with John than John sounds with Steve.
  38. I don't like him as an announcer because he is terrible at his job. Now how about YOU focus on enjoying the games and quit telling people what the f*** they are allowed to think and do, because you are mad. Again.
  39. I think he will be fine, pitchers have tough stretches. But yeah I do expect to see him in the 6th or maybe 7th up three or four runs next time. We need him
  40. I don’t trust Brazoban at the moment. I’d like to see a low leverage appearance or two for him to get him back on track.
  41. Watching the middle innings for the first time, rogers' receiving is so much smoother than our other options.
  42. I enjoy picking on john and will continue to do so. Just like I picked on jason. I like my play by play guys to focus on the game. Len I like better than Jason and Schriff and he's mediocre. Obviously Hawk in his prime is the best, but there are other teams that have good ones. Aaron Goldsmith on the Mariners for example. Also I thought Dickinson and Dirks on the Tigers broadcast were good. We just don't have a good TV booth. And I buried the lede: Stone is perhaps a bigger problem.
  43. Absurd unwarranted criticism. I could point out numerous arcane expressions used by sports announcers including Hawk and Harry. The thing that is different is that some fans just don't like Schriffen. Just admit that and stop nit picking everything he says or does, or better yet, just focus on enjoying the games.
  44. All depends on what JR allows Getz to do. You know his policy regarding pitchers and contracts. And it depends on the labor situation and all the uncertainty that brings.
  45. Don't forget the Grady Sizemore fling. I think Will is doing fine. He will fully deserve whatever accolades he collects after the season.
  46. Highest win% in baseball when the starters go 5+ He makes the right calls when the pen isn't overworked and he has the weapons available Gets far too much blame for not being able to magically pull 15 innings of scoreless pen work out series after series
