This is absolutely ridiculous. You really believe there was a huge red flag that Jake Burger was going to rupture his Achilles before he was even drafted? Serious man?4 points

What? Yoenis Cespedes has never even finished top-8 in MVP voting. Puig has never finished better than top-15. Abreu has finished 4th. None of this really matters but the argument you're making is just not even close to being true.4 points

At least he’ll finally get playing time again. Thanks for nothing, Rick and Ricky, you stupid assholes.4 points

I'm already resigned to the idea that Moncada and Robert, at the very least, are going to walk. This is going to be a very limited window so they should maximize it. If they keep worrying about service time at this point there will be no window.3 points

The fact that Rondon and Palka were getting ABs ahead of Collins despite the handedness of the pitcher is a disgrace. One of your top prospects and Ricky starts those scrubs. Embarrassing3 points

Collins has a right to be pissed, he was badly misused and then a player from another organization was bumped ahead of him in line. Or they completely misread his preparedness to hit/adjust at the next level. Not much of a reward, at any rate.3 points

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but the last time I noticed I was in AA and now I am on the 40 man roster!! I might never go to O'Hare again in fear that someone from Soxtalk will inform me I've been sent down again. On second thought, I could still be in AA but on the 40 man...that's OK I'm still quite excited for the opportunity.2 points

But why would that person pretend that they were Zack Collins and claim they were going to Charlotte? What are the odds that person even knows who Zack Collins is? Why did this person look upset/angry? These questions need answers.2 points

If I was at O'Hare and someone told me I was being sent to Charlotte, I would be pissed too!!!2 points

Why do people always want to take on the cubs shitty problematic players? Russell? Heyward? I'd rather literally give players away than get those 2 back.2 points

So Yolmer is today's scapegoat for stinking it up in Oakland? Is it time to release him? Yes, I would rather see Madrigal at 2nd base now too. But, for whatever reason, he's not here, so clearly Yolmer is the best we got to put there. Hopefully Madrigal will be there next year, but I really think we gotta ride the season out with Sanchez. Rondon is batting .203, Yolmer is batting .250; that's a huge difference, huge. Yes, he started out the year very badly defensively, but if we're gonna cite small samples, he also threw out two guys at home and threw out a guy at 3rd in that one Boston game. There's an awful lot going on defensively for him to have pulled that off. I used to coach basketball, and I had this backup senior post player, and he drove me crazy: he'd get burned on out-of-bounds plays, could only score on offensive rebounds; no offensive threat, and he just took up space. Well, after one game I freaked out with my assistants that we gotta quit playing him; he give us nothing. I was yelling at them. They all agreed with his problems, but then they calmly pointed out that there is no one else better. All the guys on JV were too small and could never defend the post or get a rebound. We had to play him because that's all there was to put in as a back up. Until Madrigal comes up, Yolmer is all we have at 2nd base, and really, he is far from terrible.2 points

in regards to the title: stay the course. Sell. Sell high on bullpen pitchers always.2 points

I think your greatly over estimating the value of a number ten pick. Getting a major leaguer period would be a good outcome.2 points

All fans believe in winning above everything. Including those in favor of "tanking" or "building"... whatever we want to call it. That's the point of being a fan... you want to win. I would personally rather pickup a young player who could help us try to win a world series each of the next 4-5 seasons. As opposed to keep a veteran who could help us beat Detroit in September this year. But hey... that's just me being "flip happy". Wanting to win a world series in 2020 or 2021 instead of wanting to beat the Royals in September IS a belief in "winning above everything". I would say it's actually a much stronger belief and requires that much more dedication to winning. You want to win a bunch of meaningless, small battles which will be forgotten weeks after they are played out. I want to win multiple wars that will be remembered for eternity.2 points

Yes really how do these players get there, yankees, dodgers, astros, cubs, tampa, organization s win championships, seems like I forgot to put the White Sox in that group, that's because from top to bottom they are garbage1 point

He ran the wrong way...? Lol It was a bunt popped backwards. You have no way of knowing where it exactly is and only tenths of a second to be able to locate it. He located, went full speed and dove towards the spot. If you had ever caught, you would know how silly that statement is. A bunt pop-up isn't even in the same category of play as a swinging pop-up behind the plate anyway. Difficult for two completely different set off reasons. I also have never noticed McCann being poor with either and I doubt you can quantify it.1 point

Slider away, slider away, slider away, and Sox hitters keep chasing it. Steverson needs to be replaced.1 point

He gets better with every promotion. At this rate he'll hit like .500/.750/1.250 in his first month in MLB1 point

I wonder if that random dude genuinely believed some other random dude was Zack Collins.1 point

Collins still has options in 2020 and 2021. IF the Sox are still wanting to option Collins in 2022, he probably isn't a big leaguer. I don't think the burning the option thing is something to be mad about in this particular scenario. Not at all surprised to see pnoles go off on a tangent about that, though. The lack of playing time is puzzling, but clearly they weren't going to play him, and with Reed now in the fold as the lefty DH, sending Collins back to AAA to catch most days is the right thing to do when Castillo is activated.1 point

Signing free agents is pretty much a binary activity. You don't get a trophy for a competitive offer. It was a fail, compounded by the cash they spent on his wothless friends.1 point
-
I dont think you know what the term competitive means in a contract sense. They offered the second most guaranteed money and had escalators to give him the most. That is by definition a competitive offer. The padres off was "better" but it wasnt some well over market offer. Unless you think only one team makes competitive offers to free agents (the team that signs the player) then you're off base here.1 point

Sure, but preventing a kid from coming up when he's ready because you want to get cheap 7 years from now for one year is the exact same BS that people rip this organization for. Stop calling it SMART and start holding the organization accountable for spending money. If Robert is a star they already get to exploit his pay for 7 YEARS and pay him less than he's worth.. why should we excuse them from calling him up just so they can pay him under market value one extra year? How about we expect the Sox to pay a guy what he's worth and resign him when his contract is up?1 point

I don't. Luckily for the Sox, the Central is awful. Both Tigers and KC are 30 games below .500. This year we are on pace to win 76 obviously helped by a shitty division. But the flip side is it is also a division where we can jump up very easily. We were w/o the services of TA for a good chunk of time. In addition, the 2nd half should see contributions from Cease and possibly Roberts. Playing in the Central next year could make this 75ish win team an 85 ish win team. This year the W/C looks like 90 will be the finish line1 point

We’re bottom five in MLB In runs scored/runs allowed. Maybe even worse than the entire NL, and the Royals last time I checked. Other than KC and the Tigers to bail out the record a bit, we’re a high 60’s win team masquerading as a low to mid 70’s win one. Progress...sure, but that still depends on Jimenez and McCann/Collins, our four best prospects (including Cease/Kopech) in 2020 and the crapshoot that is free agency. I guess because we can see those final four (or 5/6 depending on Dunning and the remaining outfield prospects) pieces coming into play, everyone can at least envision a 2013 Royals or 2015 Cubs’ progression next year. Of course, that requires everyone staying healthy or at least not having any rehab setbacks.1 point

In most markets, there is no difference between being mediocre and being horrible. Attendance is all about winning. However, to win in the current game is to build the organization from the ground up. Tanking is one way to do it. There is no justifying being "anti-tank" in this league as built.1 point

I agree. Leave him down until 5/1/20. Blame it on wanting him to come up when it's not as cold. IDGAF. I want this guy for as long as possible.1 point
