  1. This is fucking stupid. Tony is reaching Trump levels where people want to blame him for literally everything.

  2. This offense struggles so much with consistency and we want to trade the one guy who is consistent every year...

  3. Why be mad at everyone who holds this team to a higher standard? These are bullshit results, we all know this team is better than this. How good? Not totally sure, but this is not what anyone expected. Getting mad at other fans is a waste of your energy when the manager is quite literally losing games for them with bad decisions

  4. Thompson's final line 5.1 IP 8 H 3 ER 0 BB 9 SO. 79 pitches. 63 for strikes. I am pleased with this development. He looked great.

  6. I know, it's a beautiful star I orbit around. It's insane. BUt it's similar to people that love sudoku. I get this box score, I look, there will be like 25 runs scored. You'll say to yourself "wow must have been some big performances" but then basically every hitter just has a single. But there will be like 30 errors you can't see. Then you'll look at the hitters and they all struck out like 15 times, but the opposing pitchers will all have horrendous numbers barely striking out anyone. I just want to be the scorekeeper at the games. It has to be just stupefying and hilarious and beautiful watching this baseball-like game.

  7. I truly just don't believe hiring a manager is as hard as the white sox make it out to be.

  8. Since the day this thread was posted Abreu is 327/.443./574/1.017 6 homers, 19 walks, and only 17 Ks

  10. Most Chicagoans eat tavern cut, not stuffed pizza. Mainly limited to the downtown tourist joints. Tony & Lill's and Father and Son's were my favorites but have closed, La Villa and Dino's are the current call. Would love to try Vito & Nick's. Cheese and sausage, and any vegetables except mushrooms work for me. La Villa (on Pulaski between Addison & Irving). Dino's (On Higgins a few blocks east of Harlem)

  14. It not just about where he was ranked. He has produced really good seasons. Guys at his age don't drop off a cliff like this . It's in there. The question is how to get it out?

  18. Drama free last 4 inning with Lambert, Kelly and Lopez combining for 4 IP, 2 hits , 0 R, 6 K Vaughn 4/4 BB RBI ,RS Top of the order really producing. Top 5 had 10 hits. Pollock with 6 multi-hit games in a row. Moncada getting better.

  19. If the Sox somehow win the next 4 of 5 to get over .500, I’d probably be sucked back in to this season. So do that.

  21. Thompson feasting. Think he just struck out a guy on 3 straight changeups.

  22. Two more strikeouts in the 3rd for Thompson. Got hit around a bit, but damage was minimal. Still throwing strikes. 48 pitches 38 of them strikes.

  24. Smart fans IMO realize LaRussa isn't sabatoging anything. As a fan my problems with him are thus: I don't like having a different lineup every day; I agree that sucks. ... I don't like him screwing up Yermin's career last year basically by calling him out; I don't like walking any hitter with a 1-2 count. Problems I don't have with him: Bullpen usage (those pitchers stink with the exception of closer); pitching decisions (the pitching coach probably makes most of the calls); the injuries (bad trainers? bad luck?) and the team's hitting (horrible players to go with a few MLB caliber hitters). I'd give Tony a D for this year; B plus or A minus for entire career. Prolly A- for the 3 titles. He's not the devil folks

  26. At this point, with all of the criticism of our manager and underperforming players, health will likely be widely considered to be the reason for the 2022 White Sox' disappointing results.

  27. Nothing to lose. Besides, they seem to be the last people to know their players even warrant an IL stint this year. Not only have they not had a full roster of 5hei best players, they haven’t had a full roster period available for probably 95% of their games.

  28. That's what is commonly done when the closer is ready to go. Otherwise he may not be available the next day anyway.

  30. You do realize that Sousa was also warming up, right? Instead he went with Hendriks with 5 run lead to save Sousa for a high leverage spot on Saturday, which he failed, and the Sox lost.

  33. He's swinging at more stuff outside the zone and he's making more contact on it. But a lot of that contact is weak grounders, so while that helps cut down his K rate, it also doesn't really give you anything productive results-wise. He's getting about 5% less pitches in the zone, which is something the FanGraphs article kind of predicted the league would do. Why throw Robert strikes when he swings at balls for weak contact? He's getting himself out. A striking contrast between 2021 and 2022 is just how bad he's been vs. the fastball. He had a .429 wOBA on the fastball last year. This year, it's .218 and it's been the best pitch to use against him. One big difference in fastball usage this year vs. last year is that pitchers tended to attack Robert high and away with the fastball. The change to his stance helped him attack those fastballs he had issues with down the stretch in 2020. And Menechino deserves a ton of credit for it. This is the fastball heatmap in 2021: So the league adjusted in 2022. They decided to throw more waist high inside fastballs and fastballs low and away. This is the heatmap for 2022: So while the adjustments they made in 2021 helped with the high fastball, it also exposed him to inside fastballs and low and away fastballs. The low and away fastball tunnels perfectly with the low and away slider, which Luis already has issues against. The league has adjusted. Luis needs to adjust back. This isn't just about him swinging at more pitches, it's also about how the league has adjusted to Luis' adjustment. One of Menechino's most impressive feats as hitting coach was unlocking Robert last year vs. the fastball and now he needs to earn his money and do it again.

  35. Makes sense. They use different relievers based on if they are winning or down by 2 or more it seems. Edit: having checked this, Foster has been worse at home. But nothing I side earlier changes.

  36. It is funny to watch the run differential thrown out there as if Tony is actually out managing something this season. Why aren't we asking WHY this team has a -52 run differential instead of finding a reason why -52 runs is somehow a good thing?

  38. The chants may stop, but I'd bet if you asked any well-informed fan they'd tell you TLR has to go. He's not going to lead this team on a winning streak. Abreu, Lynn, Giolito, TA, Hendriks, etc. will. But his poor decision-making can lead this team on a losing streak.

  45. With the Bummer injury finally admitted I'm guessing they have been hiding stuff from opponents about injuries. Tony has been hobbling together arms. I hate to carry any water for this man but we may be in more injury trouble than we imagined. The cupboard is bare. Tony doesn't have much to work with and it got worse.
