  1. The Sox deserve zero fans the way they run things. Like literally, any non sports-related business would have gone under a long fucking time ago I’d they ran s%*# like Jerry’s org does.

  2. That rebuild was popular. This one would not be.

  3. How much money has Bryce Harper made for the Phillies? His contract is such a bargain my god how did Jerry, Kenny, and Hahn not even give him an offer?

  4. What's Bryce Harper worth compared to Gavin Sheets?

  5. The lack of a serious pursuit of him is definitely a defining moment of the rebuild. Just terrible.

  6. And his 2 run HR just put them within 3 outs of the World Series. it's a good thing the Sox didn't need Harper.

  7. Yeah I said he shouldn't be manager a couple days ago since he didn't meet any of the criteria laid out by RH, so I'm guessing that's why. Still, some soft behavior IMO.

  8. A guy like Ozzie, but not Ozzie, although if they do hire him, as much as it would make me question the front offices collective mental health, it would be an upgrade. Before he became a caricature of himself, and before he was all about getting as much attention as he could, he was a really good manager. Surprised me.

  9. They deserve any and all criticism for what amounts to pure cowardice.

  10. Canceling SoxFest is a total and complete chickenshit move made by a bushleague organization. They hide under their desks, don't go to the ballpark, and live in an echo chamber where sycophants tell JR how brilliant he is and how much people love him. The idea of actually listening to direct feedback from their customers petrifies them. I'm thoroughly disappointed in the entire FO, but not in the least bit surprised.

  11. Yet he wants to get back into the manager’s seat and have to face even stronger scrutiny. I can envision the temper tantrums at the slightest criticism.

  12. They wouldn’t have signed Eaton or traded for Pollock. That right their makes Harpers cost go down. They are so afraid of good players. Bryce Harper would have done so much more than help them win games. They wouldn’t be the forgotten team anymore nationally let alone locally. Always think small seems to be their motto,

  13. Bryce Harper would have looked good in the White Sox line up the last couple of years. At least JR gets to die with a bigger bank account.

  14. So apparently Ozzie (or whoever runs his account) is out there blocking a bunch of people on Twitter. Soft as Charmin if you ask me.

  15. To me it would have to be a true blow-up, which means trading guys like Cease & Anderson plus many others. I don’t see any chance of that happening though given where Jerry is at in his life. Not trying to dark, but who knows if Jerry would even be alive after another rebuild. But to me, that’s the only excuse for not holding SoxFest.

  16. Arte Moreno probably crying in the corner reading this lol

  17. My hunch is that management and leadership in this "organization" are a bunch of cowardly, chicken-s%*# assholes, who cannot handle an ounce of accountability, and it has nothing to do with the players. But I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.

  18. Yep - what you get for drafting a bench player.

  19. Nice. Just because 70% of my posts aren't just yelling out a players name when they do something in a game thread like lot's of others around here shouldn't mean anything as far as trying to interact with you guys

  20. I was in Brentwood which is a 20 to 30 minute drive from downtown. The problem is that downtown Nashville is your cool young, urban, liberal setting and the suburbs are uber religious & conservative. Unfortunately the latter wasn’t for me and being back in Chicago has only reaffirmed that point.

  21. Man, y’all post on a baseball message board. We’re all fuckin dorks, who cares? If they’re not hurting anyone, let people like what they like.

  22. Wow. The only OF defense as bad as ours is in the WS. The big difference? Their bad fielding outfielders hit the damn ball out of the Monday to Friday ballpark.

  23. "Letting Tony retire was the second or third biggest mistake of my career, we've all lost track. He's back!" JR after the World Series.

  24. David Robertson closing. I bet the Phillies wish they had Joe Kelly. They would have loved Joe Kelly.

  28. Especially if that was what they were doing, they should be holding this type of event. Let the fans vent, it’s well deserved. Then make sure lots of 8 year old kids meet Colas and Montgomery so that even if the team is struggling maybe people come to a few games to see the guy who they met. Failing to do events like this is a great way to let the fan base die off.

  29. They will send someone out to the flagship this week, probably Brooks, who will say it was cancelled out of an abundance of caution and Covid. Being the flagship, they will throw him no curveball and it will be accepted and the rest of the prece will go smoothly. Just remember, JR has no problem hosting 20k plus inside to see his other disappointment. They had no problem with crowds gathering in the inside parts (suites, patio, club level, restaurants, etc. the entire 2022 season and the last half of 2021.

  30. If there was a year to have SoxFest, 2023 would be the year. Yes, they would take some heat, but this would be a time to regain at least gain some trust with the fan base. In addition, a good off-season would help too. But if they are not going to have SoxFest, they could do one other thing: tell Steve Stone to shut up.

  31. Right. Especially if the same bozos are in charge of it.

  32. Jerry's wallet always comes before the White Sox. You might be on to something. He may be cutting his losses on this whole thing. That would explain abandoning Soxfest. You could almost see a massive trade with the Dodgers potentially happening, with Cease and a bunch of contracts Jerry wants to be rid of attached to the deal, and some big prospects coming back. I really hope this isn't the case. What scares me is - Jerry may have made a lot more money per year in the 'rebuilding years' than he has in the compete years - where they haven't really competed much. Attendance is up, but probably not even close enough to make up for the payroll rise (regardless of how foolishly the payroll was allocated). But going back to your comment about where he is in life. That might be why he does it. He may say, hey we teied but the rebuild failed. Lets cut our losses and get back to making more money, and setting up the franchise to be in good shape (financially) for when his days are over?

  33. This is a great point if true—I, however, have been assuming others driving these rumors (on this board or in the media) know more about him than I do and that the hype is more than just an empty bubble. Perhaps I am wrong, though.

  34. We do know that they aren't going to be able to choose their coaches. At least not entirely. When is the last time a Sox managerial hire was able to name their entire staff? I'm guessing not since we'll before LaRussas first stint 43 years ago. And besides, would you want a guy who has never managed or hasn't managed in 10 years to pick his staff? I wouldn't.

  35. Great point and it sounds like you just described Ozzie (as far as what the team needs in a manager) 😆

  36. At the very least, they could have provided a real reason instead of many factors. The Cubs having one is a bad look for the Sox. If they are afraid of fans questions and comments, they are proving they aren’t worthy of their positions.

  39. Downtown Nashville is great, but hated living in the suburbs there and simply missed everything Chicago (places, people, food, etc.). Just couldn’t see living there forever and unfortunately for whatever reason going to Sox games is one of my favorite things in the world. I’ve always dreamed of taking my two young sons to Sox games on a regular basis and have them share in this passion with me. Despite the s%*# show that is the Sox over the past couple months (and cancelling SoxFest is a big one), moving back to Chicago was the best decision in my life. For all its warts, I fucking love every corner of this place.

  43. Why would any Sox player even be considered?... they looked buffoonish in the field.

  44. This just isn't true. When he first came up, every ball he hit was crushed, and he teamed that with a solidly patient approach at the plate. He definitely needed coaching on that as he got himself in trouble with strikeouts at first, but he looked like an absolutely dynamic player.
