  1. Bro the mopes you're yelling at have been living and dying with this franchise for decades. We know what the Sox' median season is. We know what the spreadsheets say. Like, focus on some positives sure (even I have) but just don't yell at people not blowing sunshine and rainbows before the season even starts.

  2. Comrade, I've been online for awhile. See, I didn't name myself after the first White Sox team I was ever aware of like you did. I have been called a Ron Schueler lover, a KW stan, a Rick Hahn fanboi, and now that I have a Getz obsession. I'm a White Sox fan. I don't follow them to shorten my life by decades like you do. I just follow them. I don't try to make people feel like sh*t for being positive. That's malarkey. I'm not really aware of this type of fanhood. You like a team, so you attack everybody who thinks players on that team will do well? Even when they have track records of doing well? I thought you were factually based. Sounds like you are too emotional to follow this sport. I don't think you've ever done anything patiently.

  3. I had season tickets for 30 years. I hope they win every game they play. Last year when they hired Pedro, I was fired up. He seemed perfect. Turns out the guy was a fraud. He is awful. Then JR finally comes to his senses and fires Hahn and KW. He doesn’t search for a perfect replacement, he hired Getz because he said Getz knew the organization and he couldn’t waste a year. I liked his first trade. It’s somewhere on this site if you don’t believe it, but after that, and until the Cease trade, which again, I thought was pretty good, I gave a B grade, all he acquired was and is crap. This will be a wasted year. They are terrible. Not even trying. Call me a whiner. I consider myself an educated consumer. I was sold a bill of goods. I won’t be fooled again. The organization is full of bullshitters, and it starts at the top.

  4. Why do they have to be “whiners”? Does anyone call you a “stupidly over-optimistic homer”? I get the impression that @Lip Man 1 is a long lifetime Sox fan who has lived through Jerry’s entire awful reign and longer. The same owner who has done nothing with the Bulls since Jordan left because it’s a money maker. Perhaps you should listen and learn from your elders. But do what you want.

  5. Can I take the under on July? Once most of Getz’s acquisitions are DFA candidates by July that he keeps hyping up as having promise, he won’t be posting much at all.

  6. Am I the only 1 that still can’t get over how horribly the Oscar Colas situation has gone? In 1 calendar year we went from having a top 100 prospect who was too good to leave in the minors, to signing scraps late in spring to play over him. Was Colas that immature/unprofessional? Just seems like Getz and crew made it apparent that Colas was never going to get a shot at the RF job from the beginning. And I’m not saying Colas has really earned anything, but with the state of this organization doesn’t it make sense to just give him a shot to bounce back?

  7. @Dick Allenis not a guy that has a history of puffing up the Sox. For some reason, that seams to be your reason to exist here. Like just calm down a bit it's only March 23rd. By July, there's like an 80% chance we're 10 under and your account will be deactivated. If we're not? Well, crow then. There's only so many strawmen people can knock down in the meantime.

  8. For good reason. Haven’t you been going on and on for weeks about the Sox giving Pillar $3M? Now they release him and that’s an issue too?

  9. You take spring training way too seriously. I hope Nastrini is good pitcher, but chances are he won’t be all that good in the major leagues in 2024. Command isn’t the greatest.

  10. Shouldn’t White Sox hitters be taking advantage or does this only happen to White Sox pitchers? At so,e point, and now, in spring training, I understand why you don’t want to, you’re going to have to realize they aren’t as good as most teams. And that they suck.

  15. My earliest personal memories of the Sox go back to 1960 when I was five years old. This season will be my 64th as a fan and Sox historian. I hope to outlive current ownership and see better days for this franchise.

  16. It’s pretty frustrating we kept the same 101 loss manager and hire an unqualified yes man to not “waste a year” and they are in fact, wasting this year anyways. Like wtf.

  17. Gotta love how the only way to “save” a JR-owned team is by trading their best players, rather than resigning them. JR is an embarrassment to competition. It’s too bad he didn’t just stick to real estate. Having an owner that just wants to make money rather than win is the worse possible scenario as a fan.

  18. Great. He has 27 games at AA with an ERA over 4, 4 games at AAA last year also with an ERA over 4. Send him to AAA and call him up when he starts impressing. Thanks for agreeing, entire career makes it obvious.

  19. This should be the takeaway.

  20. There is no reason to move Colas right now. He could literally spend the next 2 seasons in Charlotte before the Sox HAVE to make a decision on him in ST 2026. He’s an extremely talented guy - let’s see what happens before just cutting him loose or trading him for pennies on the dollar. There are all sorts of personalities across baseball. To say Colas shouldn’t be allowed in the Charlotte clubhouse is pretty over the top imo.

  22. Paul DeJong sampled a bong. Paul DeJong sampled all game long. All Pedro's coaching and all Jerry spent, couldn't make Paul DeJong FAST again.
    2 points
  23. Well, Dejong is NOT going to embarrass the White Sox and us fans by . . . . Repeatedly get suspended by the league Act like a bad ass then get knocked on his butt in a fight Slap a teammate be disliked by his teammates to the point that no one cheers when it's announced he make the all-star team make us watch and wait as an opponent checks and overturns a double play because he missed stepping on 2nd base . . again have countless errors repeatedly get picked off base Dejong is not going to be Tim - building my brand means more than wins - Anderson. For that reason alone, I expect the Sox to be better, maybe only slightly better, but better. But they will be significantly easier to watch.

  24. Sox would have to take on the 3/$19M he is owed. No one is claiming that.
    2 points
  25. Sure, but the Sox still had two years of control on Cease and didn’t even get close to discussing what the price would be. So one could reasonably expect that this will happen with any other good player in the future, under the current ownership.

  26. If the bullpen comes through as you say it could the Sox might be able to hang on and win some games in which the team scores 5 or more. If these starters can only go four innings, that's leaving a lot of innings to that pen. Our pen has been so bad since the start of the tank I don't even know what to think. Plus the Sox have no closer. If they happen to lead after eight, good luck in the pressure packed ninth.

  27. These tickets are available for purchase for season ticket holders, I remember seeing them on stubhub, with a note you also need a regular game ticket to enter the stadium, but I don't see any listed so far for the couple of games I checked. They weren't listed with expensive on stubhub for most games, IIRC $10-$15 per ticket. Hopefully they didn't change the policy to allow resale. I never was inside the Stadium Club, but would be cool to check it out. I like the Club Level especially with sketchy weather, being able to sit out a rain delay in warmth. Also like viewing the game from that level around the infield, vs. the upper deck where I won't go anymore. You can typically find decent to great prices for club seats for weekday day games and weeknight (M-Th) games in April, May and September.

  28. Dude, I've been discussing the White Sox online for a good 25 years. If a younger Mark Liptak couldn't break my spirit, I doubt a bunch of low-grade whiners could, either.
    1 point
  29. There certainly is enough suckitude to discuss. One wouldn't think you would have to make up other, nonsensical BS to whine about. Peter Angelos died today. Please tell us why Jerry Reinsdorf's behind that to make more money.

  30. Can't speak for the 300 level but felt like the 100 level ushers were the worst in years for checking for tickets if trying to come from the upper bowl.

  31. The only reason would be 1) not being able to sign with a contender or getting no promises on playing time and/or 2) not prioritizing playing with a contender (presumably after a TDL deal) vs. other factors.

  36. I complained enough about selling off Cease at a discount already, I will not complain about them avoiding paying Pillar and Moustakas $5 million or Clevinger anything. Those would be like Maldonado, bad signings and wasted money to make us feel Royal, it would do nothing to help the Sox in either the short or long term.
    1 point
  37. Or saying it another way. Whether drafting rookies or veterans why would you want a later pick? I don't want to go fourth in the draft, let's go lower after everyone else picks, then we'll take whoever they don't want. We're not that good at development that we can take other team's rejects, develope them, and beat those teams. One thing I'm certain of after fifty years or following this organization, for every time we actually "fix'd 'em" (Loaiza) there are dozens and dozens that really did suck so bad no one else would sign them.

  39. Really, you only expect the Sox to win between 40 to 50 games? Is this hyperbole? I am optimistic and hope and expect about 72 wins, but I know 60 wins (even a few less) is a possiblity. But you think only 45 wins, really? What happened?

  40. My point exactly. They know exactly what we know.

  41. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/shohei-ohtani-interpreters-firing-menacing-143106861.html On a grander scale, for you, the sports consumer, it might feel like the slippery slope of gambling and sports fandom is giving way. Yet going on six years in this post-PASPA world, the blinking red lights of major league sports’ loving embrace of gambling can’t be ignored. The guardrails can’t make all that disappear – especially when the game’s participants skew younger and grew up in an environment where having action on a game is not only verboten, it’s incessantly encouraged. That doesn’t mean all the action is dirty, or salacious, for the general public or the stars with nine-figure net worths. We’re going on three or four decades where the clubhouse March Madness pool adds a jolt of energy to the spring training slog – and if you want to know the stakes, just add a few zeroes to the $10 you might be playing with this March. But the occasional pool or friendly wager – and sports’ leagues promotion of that via bracket challenges or the acknowledgement of fantasy sports popularity – is one thing. That teams and leagues are signing partnerships with seemingly any online book that asks is quite another.
