If you can manage the 40 man to get him here, there's literally nothing to lose, but it is mentioning that he screams 4A splits.

AAA career 282/.366/.456/.822

MLB career .242/.298/.354/.652

Those MLB splits would be good among the current lineup. Nothing to lose bringing him up.

Good enough for a 2021 first place Sox team at least half the time, but not good enough for the 2024 version which may be the historical worst…ever.

You’re right, the Major League development team has performed MUCH better…

he's already been a failure in Chicago, why would it be any different this time?

You don't Know what happened do you? Best utility guy since Pablo Ozuna. Had his career almost ended by a lousy left fielder. Guess who?

Wonder how many more chances Sosa gets.  He always hits in the minors but flops in the majors.

No reason to count on Sosa again, it’s getting to point he is not worth a 40 man spot.

Sadly, that MLB line would be an improvement to our offense. At .242, he would be 5th on the team.

Benintendi is only seeing ABs because of his massive contract. Vaughn may not be signed to another contract unless he can bolster his hitting.  He’s sitting at 50 points under the Mendoza line.  Either of these guys could make an adjustment and hit a hot streak, but they’re lucky we’re so bad that they can try to hit their way out of it.

4 of our top 5 yesterday we’re hitting .170 or less.  Let that sink in. Our 1, 2, 4, and 5 hitters were hitting between .153 and .170 with a combined 1 HR and 8 RBIs.

He had a bad screw up in the field today during that run down as well.

Wonder who goes. Mendick needs to be added to the 40-man.

Logic says that if Sheets is getting playing time in right, you don't need both Pillar and Grossman. Especially because Mendick can also play some OF. And Pham on the way.

But this team is trying (not succeeding) to win and those two are two of the team's best hitters.

So maybe Remillard? They wouldn't cut a SP from the 40-man, and the only relief pitcher is Horn. He's been getting obliterated so maybe it's worth a shot?

I'm glad they're giving Mendick a shot. It's clear he's gone through a swing or approach change so you might as well see if there's anything to it.

Mendick is running a flyball rate over 50%, which is the highest he's had at any level of affiliated ball by a mile. Wouldn't it be nice if Eloy or Vaughn could lift the ball like that 🙂

Probably Remillard.  They Sox DFA him in January to add Maldonado and were able to outright him to Charlotte.

Remillard was the right choice.  Easy dude to root for though.  He'll almost certainly clear, but will now have the option to elect free agency.  In my opinion, he'd be a little crazy to as his easiest path back to the big is easily the Sox and will continue to play a key role for Charlotte. But the grass is always greener...we'll see.

I wish ReMVP was hitting better so you justify jettisoning Nicky Lopez, but unfortunately, he's putting up worse numbers than Naperville's Finest in Charlotte.

But we should rejoice, for the prodigal son is returning and Haseley isn't around to murder him.
