These guys have become my favorite broadcasting duo since... I dunno, Hawk and Wimpy in the 90s? Nothing compares to Hawk's "You can put it on the board, YES" as far as play by play calls, but besides that Jason and Steve are everything you could want. -Openly pro-Sox but objective about the game, not overboard with homerism -Informative about what's happening in the game, skills/capabilities of players, what scouting reports say etc. -Entertaining banter, playful roasting5 points

Good. They shouldn't play. I don't care, this is political.5 points
-
I'd really like to keep politics out of this. Not everyone feels this way and I would rather keep our baseball board a baseball board.5 points

I would love to trade for 96ce0be8-da13-40d6-9a1b-edbf3ec6f45d4 points

This is a powerful moment. I selfishly want them to play. If they don't I stand with them however. I get the feeling with leaders like TA, Gio and Jose they will take a day. That's OK. Sports are the reward for a functioning society...4 points

please keep politics out of this as asked on original post. This is the teams decision to make, not ours.4 points

Stoney Tweeted recently that one day, as you mentioned, that Bennetti will go down as one of the all time greats. How would like to hear that from your work partner? It's also great that the fans appreciate what we have going for us along with this team & its future.4 points

Your hatred of Madrigal is beyond fucking bizarre3 points

Huh??? The NBA has been playing games in the dome for some time now. I have not hear anything about the protesting of games in the past 24 hour or so being related in any way to COVID.3 points
-
Protesting for a good cause means a lot more if you arent doing it when its convenient. The NBA players dont want to play during the pandemic . So even if you truly want social reform then do something. Not playing basketball during a pandemic and disguising it as a protest of social injustice seems a bit convenient to me. The intentions are valid but I wonder if the same thing happens without the pandemic. Sorry if what I said was what the OP wanted to avoid. The baseball season has already been altered so much by Covid . Just cancel the season now and pay everyone accordingly and everyone can protest all they want.3 points

Why does my long time Sox fan brain concentrate on the 1.7% chance of not making the playoffs?3 points

I doubt the White Sox can sign both players. Yoelqui Cespedes is free to sign right now. Oscar Colas hasn't been cleared. The 2020 signing period that was supposed to take place on J2 has been pushed back to January 15th of 2021. The White Sox have a deal with Cuban RHP Norge Vera for $1.5 million and they have agreements with 6 others for $1.8 million total. I wrote about them here: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/02/18/the-white-sox-are-eyeing-cuban-prospects-in-international-marketplace/ The White Sox have roughly $5.5 million total to spend and there are no trades for next two periods. The White Sox have just over $2 million to spend. One of Cespedes or Colas would likely sign for that amount but I really doubt they could get both. Moving the signing period really messed them up if the intention was to sign both players.3 points

There are a lot of great mentor/protege relationships where the mentor helps bring out great things in the protege. Only in the rarest and greatest cases, though, do you see the protege have an equally profound effect on the mentor. Jason and Stone have this sort of relationship, and while I've always known Stoney was great, Jason has helped me realize that the guy is a bonafide baseball genius. If you ever doubt how close the two are, just go listen to Stone's "Why don't you take this one partner" to Jason, telling him to drive for the final out in the no hitter. These two have incredible chemistry.3 points
-
Yes. It's like Jason is showing Stoney another side of himself (Steve) that he didn't know he had or didn't want to reveal on air. Maybe just trying to be professional in the way he thought was being professional. It just seems like Stone is so much more relaxed & happy coming to the park every day. I really do like & enjoy the both of them.3 points
-
Nothing will ever beat Hawk and Wimpy in their prime but Jason and Stone this year have been good. Jason, god bless him, finally has realized he can let the game speak for itself at times. He's learned that he doesn't have to pepper stone with a million questions to fill the air -- some of that is no doubt just having a fun entertaining club, but Jason has improved.3 points

I can say with significant confidence Vaughn will be up in 2021 for most, if not all, of the season3 points
-
But could be our ace the four years after that while core is still under control and in their prime. If we trade Kopech, it has to be for a starter with more control than just one full year and one partial.2 points

As we all know, the story of Jackie Robinson is in no way shape or form political and definitely didn't involve discrimination against Black people.2 points

I agree with this but Lynn is a match made in heaven for the Sox. Only $10M a year for next year, less for this year , much less. So he gives you a shot at 2 World Series. Cheaply during the height of his pitching abilities . He's a legit Cy Young candidate this year. If him. Gio and DK all keep pitching like they have been that's 3 guys in the rotation who all could win the Cy Young. 2 legit shots at world series I'd take a very serious shot at that and trading a non run producing 2nd basemen wouldn't be a high price.2 points
-
Disagree. Washington got 5 years of cost controlled Eaton coming off 2 healthy seasons in which he accumulated 9.8 fWAR. Nimmo has 2 years and 1 month of control via arbitration and has surpassed 255 PA exactly 1 time in a season. He's a very good ball player, but he won't and shouldn't return anything close to what Eaton return.2 points

I always thought Hawk had to go take a huge crap like clockwork in the 5th inning....?2 points
-
Yeah, I read something about giving two lists being likely this year: One if you make the playoffs with the player you pick from this list If we don't, you pick from this list.2 points
-
All that for roughly 36 starts of a pitcher who turns 34 next May? I will pass We tanked an entire season to select Madrigal and install him as our 2B moving forward. He is not getting traded for a player with limited control remaining, if traded at all.2 points

Lol. Because he's the perfect fit. Above average defense. Elite OBP. Hits from the left side. Literally checks every single box. Which is why I started the bandwagon on this over a year ago.2 points
-
At this point my goal is "win the division". I'll still be scoreboard watching and checking the standings. Less concerned about jockeying for seeding and matchups, and more interested in planting the flag that establishes we're the best in the AL Central now and moving forward.2 points

McCann will tell us what he will do with us, not the other way around as you all are seeing it. And that's go to another team where he's the man, whether we like it or not. He's an All-Star catcher, remember? Just my $.02.2 points

Vaugh has that type of offensive ceiling. He’s going to hit for both power & average while also drawing a ton of walks. He’s literally a complete hitter.2 points
-
Very possible Vaughn turns out to be the best hitter from the 2019 draft class and it’s also possible he’s the most polished hitter right now in our organization. He is just flat out naturally gifted as a pure hitter.2 points

I agree with all of what you're saying. They have been brilliant, entertaining & just a pleasure to listen to. I think Bennetti just brings out the silly in Stoney & they're having fun....& bringing us along for the ride.2 points
-
Vaughn was the best hitter in college baseball in 2019, and absolutely will be MLB ready in 2021. I think you are underestimating how good of a hitter he is. Sox are rumored to be considering even calling him up in 2020 if Encarnacion did not show improvement.2 points

"Like Lucas and James are a team...so are we." Absolutely perfect response. I get emotional just thinking about that moment.1 point

Trading him at depressed value...where have we seen that previously, where an owner & manager basically disowned the guy and FORCED a trade for whatever it was possible to get back in return???1 point

Love the idea of Cespedes or Colas or both. Love the idea of a stopgap RFer, and Mazara in Charlotte next year in the Delmonico role. (AAAA type serving as corner OF depth, while waiting to be packaged as part of a deal for something else.) That said, why, exactly, would a 28 year old Pederson want to sign a 1 year deal this offseason? Wouldn't he want to cash in on FA, at the peak of his value? OTOH, if the market will be suppressed, and he'd want to sign a 1 year deal, why wouldn't he just stay in LA?1 point

They keep getting better and better and were absolutely brilliant last night1 point

Steve's really dry but Jason brings the humor out in him in a way that never happened when he was paired with Hawk.1 point

This is terrible call field. You didn’t even mention the guys in the topic but once? You should have titled this “Name Vomit”1 point

All of this happened after Keuchel called them out. In hindsight that was probably the turning point of this rebuild. KEEP IT UP IN KC!1 point

Its just such a shitty situation for the top seeds. In a 162 game season, you go 110-52 and then lose 2 of game2 to a team that went 79-83 in the 1/8 seed game and POOF - season over. Dumb. It works for this season. But it will be a travesty if this structure continues after 2020.1 point
