Jack, you have had some of the worst takes I've ever read in the past few days. Keuchel has thrown 59 career post-season innings; he has a 3.47 ERA which is actually LOWER than his career ERA. So your theory that he just can't succeed in the playoffs only makes sense if you ignore the actual 60 INNINGS he's thrown. GIolito has been one of the 10 best starters in baseball in the last 1 + year, and amazingly enough they play with the same ball and rules in the playoffs! It's almost like being able to control your emotions to throw something like a no-hitter. These are just so terrible.7 points

Dunning’s stuff looked spectacular those first few innings. I feel like we must have been watching different pitchers.6 points

If we're being honest with ourselves the Sox have zero SP that I'd be comfortable with in the playoffs. Giolito's command fails him in the first inning and when he has an adrenaline surge. Keuchel doesn't miss enough bats. I saw what happened to Keuchel when he was with the Braves last October and it's why I was against signing him.5 points

One thing that must be considered is that if any of the prospects we trade for Lynn become successful, Soxtalk.com will be cursed with at least 6 years of threads made by Caulfield about said prospect5 points

We should just offer them one hour to dig through our dumpsters5 points

Chadwick was obviously more than the T'Challa character but that role was such a cultural touchstone and carried so much weight. The man spent his last 4 years creating iconic art knowing he wasn't long for the world, suffering in silence. Sigh.5 points

I demand we win every game by at least three runs and with error-free play. You know, like the *really* good teams all do.5 points

We have pretty much stocked our farm system with quality young players and put ourselves in a great position to compete for a playoff spot. Now we have folks advocating that we give away some top youngsters for rental players. People we are not desperate. We don’t need to tear apart what has been built up for a rental that will really have a limited impact over the next thirty games4 points

That would be horrible. No way should we give up both pitchers for one year and one month of Lance Lynn.4 points

Jack you're overthinking this man. Lynn has been absolutely dominant for like 18 months. Dylan Bundy has had 38 nice innings.4 points

It would be nice, but I certainly don’t see the value in trading Cease or Dunning and Stiever for Lance Lynn. Now is the time owners have been crying about their losses. Take on some money and keep the prospect capital. As we all know, you never have too much pitching, and a couple of these guys will be needed down the road even if the Sox have great health. No need blowing your wad on 2020. You are an ill timed Covid breakout from it being a waste anyways.4 points

For clarification, he says sox have best lineup not roster (and lineup for next five years he said) still pretty cool4 points

How do the White Sox not have the pitching with Lynn? You need three starters in the playoff. Giolito/Keuchel/Lynn isn't good enough for you? And how are they not quite there? It's baseball and they're in the playoffs as of today. Anyone in the playoffs can win it all.3 points

That would make the pitching depth going forward incredibly thin. For me, I would want more than 40 starts for 18 years of control.3 points

Bold prediction but Lynn gets traded tomorrow at 12:26pm shortly before our game kicks off. Dunning, Collins, & Adolfo will be the return. Half the board will love it, the other half will hate it, but ultimately Rick Hahn will declare the window has officially fucking opened.3 points

Trading Kopech right now would be incredibly stupid unless it’s for a DeGrom caliber pitcher. Too many people are overreacting to his decision to opt out this year.3 points

Ya know if Ricky had made all the right moves or even had guys warming in the bullpen I wouldn't blame him one bit. It's one thing to have your players not perform as a manager, it's another to be unprepared and leave your players hanging out to dry when it's clear they're not gonna cut it.3 points

A lot of people have hit on why I'd rather trade for Bundy over Lynn: 1. Cost 2. I just looked up Bundy vs Lynn in peripherals and Bundy is better in that aspect. 3. Age. Also, Bundy is likely to continue to get better and Lynn is likely to get worse.3 points
-
No I have. Honestly I'd rather Bundy than Lynn, if they're going to trade for someone there. He's still young enough that he could get some of his fastball back and he has elite spin on it.3 points

No Vaughn, Kopech, Dunning, Cease or Madrigal. I'm ok with Stiever as a headliner but only for a decent cost controlled SP.3 points

If we're mapping out our near-term rotation plans, here's how I have things shaking out assuming the addition of Lynn and based on a theoretical acquisition cost of Lopez, Stiever, Collins, & Adolfo.3 points

It's not that Dunning is untradeable. He isn't. It's just that what we saw in those 3 + innings of his debut is how he looked pre tj surgery in the minors quite often. He has 4 pitches, Good velocity, and pitching IQ. A high floor guy who will always be solid. At 25 years old with at least 5 yrs of control. I would really hesitate to even consider trading Dunning for a 33 year old pitcher with only 1 more season of control.3 points
-
Lmao such a fuckin reach just to b**** about anything. He's gotten the job done just fine and just pitched over some embarrassing defensive shenanigans to get the win tonight while the team has won 10 of 11 and look absolutely monstrous offensively with a no-fuckin-hitter sprinkled in this week. Let's enjoy it with minimal b****ing for a bit.3 points

It needs to be said, but Colome not giving up the extra run after the disaster on the run down and throw away was huge. That would have changed the entire completion of the 9th.3 points

Man...sorry for these But August for first place, Friday night, walkoff, woulda loved to hear the roar.3 points

This is great work and how can you not be excited about pitching moving forward? If Dunning goes instead of Stiever...Stievers younger and many think could be as good. The Dunning-Mize pitch off seemed like a showcase. If you were Rangers and could show your fans the Dunning game plus Collins plus Lopez I think they would be happy. I do like throwing in Elijiah Tatis to make Soxtalk lose their minds.2 points

Am I the only one who is scared of trading BOTH Dunning and Stiever for Lynn? I just feel like that could have disaster written all over it.2 points

It just depends on the return. Vaughn, Dunning, Kopech. really talented veteran players were traded away for the best prospects in the game. Which led to 3-4 yrs of terrible basebal that led to high draft picks. Alot of pain and time went in to acquiring these prospects-To just trade away for a rental? Or veteran with a couple of years of control? Most of the time these trades don't work out big picture wise. And you very easily affect your competing years down the road.2 points

Maybe then you need to read up on how he became what he is now. He's not a household name like DeGrom . I don't know what to tell you. We're 20-12 ,tied for 1st . Our odds of making the playoffs is 98%. The future isnt 2022 , the future is now while we got ALMOST everyone we need to win a title in 20 and 21. We are still 1 quality pitcher short.2 points
-
In the end, Dunning is expected to be part of this team's Championship rotation (hopefully), probably starting next year. Trading him off leaves a big hole in the rotation after next year. Especially now that Kopech feels a little less certain than he did previously. We didn't come this far in the rebuild to make reactionary, impatient moves that will hurt our chances of winning titles.2 points
