I would be shocked if they do this. I really believe they have a Collins plan...I think all of this year they had him catching the top prospects in the alternate training sight teaching him how to be a catcher. ..coaching him every day. They didn't need him in 2020 with McCann and Grandal so they taught him. I've been a big supporter of Collins and I think a guy with an elite batters eye and elite power and a lefty bat has enormous value as a back up catcher/dh/1B guy. Bringing on some old free agent catcher seems more 2018 White Sox than 2021 White Sox.

ASSUMING WE HAVE A NORMAL-ISH SEASON Kopech starts at Charlotte and works up slowly to 5 to 6 innings, and comes up around June unless other problems dictate an earlier arrival. Crochet starts at Birmingham as a stater, working mostly 75 to 80 pitches an outing getting around a dozen starts between AA and AAA before evenutally coming up as a reliever, to finish the season. He ends up somewhere between 100-120 innings this year.

Guys, please don't get me wrong, I think Vaughn will be great in a year or two, just not getting too high yet. Not grading him an A or F, just an I. Hopefully, a year from now, he's ready for the show. Ofc he's going to get a chance to succeed, he just hasn't got much of a minor league resume YET. His college stats are great , for sure, but he still needs to prove they convert to MLB org baseball. For anyone hoping for him on the 2021 Sox roster, I don't think that's going to happen.

I don't think stats from 50 games during somebody's draft season should ever be referenced. Vaughn is one of the best college hitters in the last 10 years...and that's not hyperbole. I'm not too worried about him.

100% agree. And let’s be honest, Kopech will likely be in the bullpen as well if we make the playoffs next year. And maybe it won’t be 2021, but I still believe Burdi has the chance to become an elite reliever in time. His stuff is beyond phenomenal, just needs to learn how to harness it. But imagine this pen come October: 9th: Hendriks 8th: Bummer* 8th: Kopech 7th: Crochet* 7th: Heuer 6th: Marshall 6th: Fry* 6th: Foster Plus you’d also potentially have Lopez, Burdi, Johnson, Lambert, Cordero, & possibly even Stiever in the mix as well. That’s potentially a best-in-class bullpen you’re looking at there.

Attitudes like this is one of the main reasons there are over 300K people dead from this virus. If everyone was in fact brave and selfless enough to follow the guidelines, social distance, and wear a damn mask, we wouldn't be in this situation.

I think it depends on the amount of off-days, but realistically the #4 starter is probably getting two starts Max as you won’t need them in the Wild Card round and will likely skip them whenever possible.

He fits very well. He and Eloy can take turns in left as long as both bats are in the lineup most every day keeping both fresh and engaged. He's a leader, winner, clutch vet, professional, class act. He reminds me a lot of Bears' Allen Robinson. Vaughn needs another year in AA or AAA. Sox are going all in this year. I doubt they would then turn over their every day DH to a single A .250 hitter. Its not fair to the team and not fair to him. We desperately need a lefty bat anyway or be challenged by right handed pitching again.

To compare that with MLB, last year players took a 73% reduction in salaries and if owners hold firm again this season and push the season back to say June or July, you're looking at another 50% cut in their pay. So you are correct that the NBA is cutting back somewhat, but they are not cutting back in the way that the MLB did or is doing due to fans not being in the stands. And the interesting thing to me is that the cap actually gave owners much more leverage in the NBA because salaries are directly tied to revenue. I guess it also makes making a deal a bit easier as well though. MLB owners are exploiting players because players don't have a cap so they can't tie their earnings to revenue like they do in the NBA. Lastly, as NBA revenue grows so do players salaries to the same proportion; in baseball, that has not been the case the last 10-20 years. Which is really what drives me crazy; MLB player revenue has declined as revenues grew, but now that revenue declines MLB wants the players to subsidize that. It's bullshit.

It would be fascinating to learn what kind of relationship exists between Reinsdorf, WIlliams and Hahn. If KW and Hahn leave, I think Reinsdorf would be screwed.
