Making contact with the umpire and getting multiple game suspensions while trying to compete is the exact opposite of giving a fuck. It’s hurting the team around you because you care about the tantrum more than the team.5 points

I hate being a whiny b****, but every time a trade like this happens with another club coming off a rebuild I think of how Hahn botched almost every draft during the rebuild and not gave us the ammo needed to add talent via trade.3 points

I don’t get how all these teams have minimum salary relievers that are better than the high-priced Sox guys3 points

The way they’ve botched roster construction this year is amazing.3 points

They finally poached someone good with Katz, at least. Andy Barkett seems to be doing good things with the hitting development in the minor leagues. But of course because it's the White Sox, they can't ever get coaching & development synced up throughout the entire organization.3 points

The White Sox resources with the Guardians front office + coaching + player dev staff would win the AL Central every year.3 points

I think I forgot to encourage the team to strive mightily to win that Wednesday game. So let’s strive mightily to win this game and series3 points

There is no tough question on Sheets…he goes down the moment you acquire a RF. That’s easy to facilitate. And there is plenty of room for pitching additions as Ruiz can go and Foster & Lambert can be optioned. The only real challenge is adding both a RF and a 2B assuming we stick with a four man bench. That’s where Leury’s contract really hurts you and would likely force you to trade Engel to make room.3 points

Posters on this board do a lot more "explaining away" good Sox wins than they do excusing bad Sox losses, actually. Series wins against Tampa don't really count. Dominating the Yankees in a doubleheader sweep in Yankee stadium doesn't really count. Sweeping the Red Sox in Fenway doesn't really count because they weren't winning at the time, and so on. Losing to a bad team proves we're bad. Beating a good team proves that even good teams can have bad series, don't get too excited. So at a minimum, it all evens out.3 points

https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/white-sox/ct-chicago-white-sox-paul-konerko-20220729-6jwdqxlpv5drxh3lgnavikqmdi-story.html Can’t remember the last time a Sox employee or even former was not chastising sox fans, so I enjoyed hearing from Konerko. 03 Konerko was the OG underperforming star, and then by the time he came back from getting hit in the head in a division on the line game vs the twins to launch a huge home run (which we then lost), we were already wrapped around his finger. ?2 points

And that we can’t play Vaughn because we need give both backups playing time and force our other catcher to DH2 points

They should trade for a fourth catcher and give Gio his "personal catcher" back so he'll stop sucking.2 points

Needlessly selling out for weak contact is the White Sox way ?2 points

They already did this with KW…they need to fire Tony and find a hitting coach whose philosophy isn’t “fuck the HR”.2 points

The manager is dead, the bench coach is dead, the hitting coach is dead on arrival, so there is no leadership or accountability. Nothing will change with TLR and his team in charge. Same old, same old.2 points

Don't you watch a lot of out of market baseball too? Broadcasting is subjective, but Stone and Benetti are as good as it gets imo2 points

True. I’m just frustrated with this season, these players, and how there was no urgency at all on Day 1.2 points

You are right. If you do not hit homers at Coors Field and at GRF, you will normally lose. We are down 3-1 tonight because of a 3 run homer.2 points

Have to agree with @NCsoxfan. If they are not going full out and bring in difference maker players to fill in holes at 2B, RF and C, and bring in a Castillo or Montas that can help in October, and 1-2 relievers, then I’d prefer they start shedding some of these overpriced underperforming veterans signed the past three years they haven’t yet DFA’d, stick with the younger players they do have, and spend the time and money overhauling the organization with a competent outside professional to bring in quality player development and scouting for the first time in decades. They spent all this money on adding to Tony’s staff, and players have actually taken a step back. They can’t develop catchers, infielders, outfielders or relief pitchers the past decade, acquired decent starters externally as well. Have whiffed on Top Five draft picks with nothing to show for it. This is no way to legitimately field a “multi championship” roster, which is why industry people looking at this from the outside see a meager chance of 2022 success (1%) and state the prudent path is to sell what you can this week.2 points

Highly doubt anyone is picking up the phone to call the Sox on those guys anyway, or if they are they aren't offering anything of value in return and expect the Sox to throw in money. Right now is probably the lowest both their stock has ever been as ML players.2 points

I refuse to entertain the thought the Sox would be worse off with Gallo in RF against RHP as opposed to Sheets rest of season. Assuming health of Eloy, Robert, Engel and Pollock...all of which deserve that caveat....things do get a bit crowded out there with Gallo on board. But I am fine with Pollock getting less time against RHP, shift AV to LF and let Eloy DH. Plus Eloy is going to get plenty of offdays ROS. I am not saying Gallo is some homerun acquisition. As you said, he's damn near a DFA or salary dump. But he's also 1 year removed from a 4.4 fWAR season. Gavin Sheets probably won't accumulate 4.4 fWAR in his career.2 points

Trading some combination of Lynn, Abreu, Hendriks, and a reliever isn’t rebuilding IMO. It’s taking a premium return and extending your window while keeping your core players. We can reform the team in the offseason without having to pay 120c on the dollar. We cannot supplement the roster and fix a fundamentally flawed team this deadline.2 points

Luck is all we have. We don't have a well managed roster or those nice things. Not our fault. Can't win the lottery without a ticket so if all I'm left with is hoping to win the lottery I'll go with that.2 points

And yet the Astros have made the ALCS 5 years in a row, including 3 World Series appearances. On the other side of the coin, you have the White Sox, who have made back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in their 121-year history, and were outclassed by a somewhat wide margin in both series. You don't have to just count on luck to be successful in the playoffs. Yes, some years crazy things happen. And yes, some years everything comes together over those 170 or so games ( see 2005 White Sox.) But having a deep, talented roster that is well-managed sure seems to help your chances. I'd like that for the team I root for, but unfortunately we can't seem to have nice things.2 points

Scared what Hahn might end up giving up to try and make up for the season so far2 points

Active Hurt / Not Fully Healthy Eloy is still hurt. Joe Kelly is hurt, though Tony is going La La La La La La La La and pretending he is not. Grandal doesn't appear to be able to catch more than once a series. Ditto Engel (healthy/good enough to go once a series) Hopeful Harrison is fine after 3 of 4 days rest. Liam is OK now that he has returned to sea level. Tim has recovered from All Star Game Jet Lag. Still on the IL: Bummer, Burger, Crick, Lopez, Robert, Velasquez Still Dead: Crochet, Mendick, Neidermeyer, Stiever2 points

100 percent agree! There are too many holes on this team and we are not even remotely close to competing with the Yankees, Dodgers and Astros. Keep the prospects we have and not give them away since a world series isn't happening. We need to be be sellers.2 points
