So what are the odds we are giving that whomever we sign the white sox will be their last team before retirement?8 points

I am a TA stan. I love what he has made himself with where he came from and what he has dealt with in his life. He's everything we wanted from our farm system, and he plays the game with some flare.7 points

Liam acts like a clown after every single save, yet not a single thread on that. What is the difference?6 points

I hope Tim stays the next two seasons, plays 310 games, and gets 400+ hits, because he’s that good. And then he’ll get a nice contract from somebody.5 points

Lance Lynn too. Imagine if TA grabbed his nuts and threw around a few obscenities after a hr? This board would want him in jail. Im here for all the fun, personality, and passion players want to bring to the field. But the double standard is indeed crazy and it’s hard not to assume the reason isn’t obvious.5 points

TA did like two bat flips three years ago. Not sure why he’s always referenced in the discussion of excessive or disrespectful bat flipping. Even when he hit the Field of Dreams walk-off on his biggest stage, he didn’t bat flip. He just did that thing where he ran around the bases flapping his hands by his neck. Anyways, most people enjoy watching players who enjoy playing the game. Let’s also not forget the children. I don’t have much of a chance with my five year becoming a White Sox fan or even a baseball fan without players who are fun and exciting to watch. We all know we can’t just rely on winning over here.5 points

There is really only one alternative in resolving this position and his name is Benintendi. The guy is a gold glove LF, who hits for average and gets on base. He is far superior to Joey Gallo (the strikeout machine), and probably has some kind of relationship with Grifol. He would be an ideal #2 hitter in our lineup.4 points

Let me throw out all the usual complaints right now before knowing any terms of the contract — the amount is absurd, these contracts are ruining baseball, and the last few years will provide no value for the Dodgers.4 points

I got a son (my first kid) on the way. He's going to be a lefty whether he likes it or not.4 points

Walter Payton had the best philosophy after scoring a touchdown, hand the ball to the ref...act like you've been there before.4 points

I wonder how long it took them to find enough footage of VV being good to fill out a video.4 points

I really feel sorry for Pirates fans, their owner is clearly the worst in sports with Reinsdorf being a distant second. Imagine creating a hype video for Vince fucking Velasquez, they had me spit out my coffee.4 points

There needs to be more bat flipping in baseball.. Make it fun4 points

Especially when Seby & Carlos Perez are totally fine backups if Yaz is completely cooked.3 points

Signing Peralta this off-season would so similar to Harrison last year. It would be on brand for the Sox.3 points

Expectations are so low I think we’d be downright ecstatic if one is Gallo, Benintendi, or Conforto signed.3 points

I don't mind players doing that. I just enjoy seeing more outward joy and animation on the field, rather than the stoic and soldier-like approach.3 points

Yawn. You take this stuff way too seriously. I have no "charge" against you. Your Outman bit just became a meme you wouldn't stop posting about 15x a day. Talk about being stuck on something. I've even outwardly stated that Outman would be a solid supplementary piece in a trade with LAD. Just move on from it dude.3 points

You're fully correct. And yet somehow we went an entire thread about trading Liam without anyone bringing it up, but we didn't do that with Anderson. Fascinating.3 points

There's an entire thread about Hendriks being on the trade market. Where in there did you complain about his excessive celebrations?3 points

What is this .500 team trying to do? Is this a .500 team that has plans to stay .500 over the next year or two while they bring up a series of well thought of prospects that they then hope will carry them to playoff births? This was what Cleveland did in 2021. That makes sense. That would make sense for Baltimore this year, they were a nearly .500 team last year that just brought up a ton of talent and has more on the way. Is this .500 team trying to convince themselves that they're going to take a huge step forwards next year? Because the rookie probably won't help too much there. They might, rookies sometimes do, but it's a gamble more likely to fail than succeed.3 points

Lynn is a better example. He shows up batters after meaningless strike outs in the first inning. No threads yet. Again, where is the difference?3 points

Meanwhile we can’t keep our 25 year old’s from eating dominos four times a week.3 points

At these rates the White Sox may never sign a player ever again.3 points

He's Australian....people don't like to criticize foreigners.3 points

This isn’t even a story is it? The Sox have 1 outfielder on their 40 man. Of course Colas is the front runner to start in right field. It’s fine too.3 points
-
Funny how that is. Almost as if it were all a farce to begin with.2 points

I think it’s fine if you don’t like bat flips. I don’t like sotos batting stance stuff. As long as we aren’t advising throwing a 95 mph baseball at someone over something that annoys us, to each their own. but to me that one series where the blue jays kept hitting monster shots and having insane wrestler-like celebrations was the height of baseball and hilarious.2 points

This is a similar contract to Harper and the price of poker. I think , because it is more than one or two teams that are doing this, baseball is telling you something. There is a lot more money available than the owners want you to believe.2 points

Yup, these insane contracts prove that the Sox can’t afford to be major players in free agency while Jerry owns the team. While I expect this crazy spending to eventually revert back to more sane levels when one or two of these deals totally blow up, that won’t be during these last couple years of our window. As such, the Sox should strongly consider selling off some short term pieces in Anderson, Hendriks, & Giolito. I don’t think there is any chance Jerry would ok that given the Central is very winnable with a couple mid tier moves, but it would allow us to capitalize off this crazy seller’s market and add some legit controllable talent. And for the record, I think there is zero chance Tim is traded. All signs point to Hendricks being moved to open up space to sign a B/C tier OF free agent.2 points

I don't mind having a stable and strong franchise albeit with a team that is mired in mediocrity. The alternative could have long lasting negative impacts on stadium upkeep and improvements, spring training facilities, scouting, advertising, and forcing more and more money out of fans for tickets and cable subscriptions. It isn't worth the crap shoot to go all in with a few mega player contracts. It just isn't.2 points

As long as they throw in Mo Vaughn. We need some left handed power. Maybe even move him off first base and put him in left field. I hear he is quite the athlete.2 points

Pssst, hey JR, look at how “broken” baseball is with all of these “disgusting” contracts giving wealth to labour. Must make your stomach turn. Best possible time to cash out and hide your head in the sand would be right damn now…2 points

Fegan's one of the best in baseball but otherwise it's bleak.2 points

I don’t understand the Merkin hate in this thread. The article is about how hard Colas is working to earn a shot in the majors. He sounds super humble, saying he got back to work almost immediately after the season because he hates sitting around and he hasn’t accomplished anything. This article is a long way from saying that Colas is definitely the opening day rf. It points out, as we all can see, that Robert is the only outfielder on the roster. I know everyone is frustrated, but this is a pretty innocent piece.2 points

There was a game in 2021 where Abreu, Vaughn, and Sheets were all in the same lineup… And none of the three were playing first base. If that’s not the most ridiculous White Sox thing ever, I don’t know what is. I’m actually laughing out loud while typing this.2 points

Out of all the reasons to criticize TA, the bat flips is the dumbest reason.2 points
