Ok, enough with this. We get it. Players can get hurt a lot of different ways. Keeping Eloy out of the outfield was never a bad idea. Why? Because he sucks in the outfield. He’s a losing defensive player.8 points

To me, I don't care what takes place...don't get thrown out in the 3rd inning. If he's pissed at the ump, fine...state your case and go back to the dugout. Tim got into it with Rayburn and didn't get thrown out. He got thrown out after he kept going at him or Webb in the dugout. You lose me there. You said the ump fucked up, move on. You're one of the better players on the Sox, they just lost Eloy...getting thrown out in the 3rd inning because you're mad is selfish and childish.7 points

Liam officially cancer free. Huge news for Liam, and huge news for the club7 points

Worried that one day he will randomly start on fire while standing in the on-deck circle.6 points

Reminder that the Sox tried to play that guy in the OF for 2 years...6 points

Maybe because of this, so far, in his career?:6 points

Robert would have died making that catch on Sunday if Eloy was out there6 points

HAHAHA everyone involved in the organization can get fucked6 points

Making him DH will keep him healthy. Well that thinking lasted all of 5 games.6 points

As per most of this century, the Sox give walks (9!) and do not take (1). A generous organization.5 points

Hi I'm Joe Kelly and I'm here to annoy the piss out of Sox fans.5 points

Fathom is my favorite poster he really is. I am sitting in a brain dead focus group/meeting since 1:30 and am following along through this thread to keep it interesting. Any time Fathom posts I need to try and determine if it is sarcasm or reality. Like did Sheets really do something good or not. I had no clue what the score was either. Seriously wasn't sure we were winning.5 points

What is this weird feeling, where....when a ball is hit to RF, I don't try to half look away in fear, and half watch in awe of what might happen?4 points

Ya know it's really not fair that they make Vaughn pull that piano when he runs to 1B.4 points

Why is everyone piling on the dude for a mild hamstring strain? This isn't a big deal and everyone here sounds like a dick that only wants to be right.4 points

They literally have almost nothing in common other than being white.4 points

Sox should him go hit the treadmill in the clubhouse during the half inning Sox are playing defense when his PA is coming up.4 points

I mean, most these relievers are like 1 or 2 innings into the 2023 season. People should probably give all of them a little more time to round into form.3 points

More of a "let's just be happy for a moment" post than anything. Cause otherwise you'll just be angry unless your baseball team goes 162-0 with guys hitting .500 or better.3 points

Yeah. Hustled out an infield hit on a grounder to short that loaded the bases and contributed to a 3 run bottom 7.3 points

I think LaRussa had a lot to do with the Kelly and Leury deals.3 points

Now include the number of walks for each. Edit: just looked for myself. Votto has like 750 more lol3 points

Well I imagine they're thinking that a .167 average in the 5th game of the season after missing an entire year is probably not a big deal.3 points

WTF is this 3rd base coach doing? You don't send a faster Beni on a play he's going to score on, then you send AV on a much more shallow ball? C'mon man...3 points

Ones a left handed burly 1B that sucks defensively and the other a right handed hitting CF that could go get em. They are literally not comparable at all baseball wise.3 points

The guy can't field, can't throw, can't run, and gets hurt constantly. Time to move on.3 points

It also makes sure he doesn't injure anyone else.3 points

2023 is picking up right where 2022 left off in every single way. The situational hitting, the bullpen, the injuries. They should’ve given up on Eloy a while ago but now we’ll have to deal with him on and off the IL every other week for the next 6 months.3 points

It is crazy blustery outside right now, so I expect the Sox to keep it on the ground and for the Giants to test how our new LF handles the wind.2 points

So in essence, we lose the lone 30 /100 threat from this lineup.2 points

For all we know Eloy woulda blown out his hammy playing RF in Houston. Getting him out of the OF was always a good call. He *IS* injury prone, but as a DH he is far less likely to hurt someone else. Fewer walls to worry about running the bases too. It's not rocket science.2 points
-
I agree with you here, but Rick Hahn sold us on him as being a huge part of the "Core". We are down to having him DH only, and being lucky to getting 120 games from him each season. That's pathetic and so disappointing.2 points
-
Re-read, I'm not saying keeping him from the OF was a bad idea. It was a great idea, he's a negative defender. But the fact that everyone assumed health for this guy just cause they kept the glove away from him it's pretty comical at this point.2 points
-
LOL, it took 5 games. Lowering the opportunities is irrelevant for this guy. Yes, that's simple math right there.2 points
-
It’s simple math. Keeping Eloy out of the outfield reduces his chances of getting injured substantially. Doesn’t mean he won’t get injured doing other stuff, but it definitely lowers the overall opportunities for him to get hurt. Not really that complicated.2 points
-
We expect the bare minimum from Eloy and he still disappoints.2 points

I wouldn't mind a couple hour delay pushing this to a 3-4pm start one little bit.2 points
