  2. From the Sun-Times story today (Saturday): "Jake Burger has never played in the Sox outfield, but Grifol said that’s something the team has talked about a “little bit.” One concern Grifol acknowledged is Burger’s injury history, including a ruptured achilles tendon he suffered in 2018." Nothing surprises me anymore.

  3. Come on man, I know there’s a lot of reason to s%*# on this front office, but let’s be fair here — you don’t go into a season expecting one pitcher to end up injured. No could have seen that coming, it’s not like teams can realistically plan for that kind of randomness

  4. I should add quality start by Lynn and 3 scoreless from Middleton, Bummer and Kelly. BP 19.2 consecutive scoreless innings !!

  11. Jerry provides the budget. Hahn has had more than enough money the past three seasons to execute a solid plan and acquire legitimate starters at 2B and RF. He has failed at his task. Jerry opened up his coin purse larger than expected to support his BFF manager the past two seasons. The purse is now closed. Expect payroll to drop further the next two seasons, perhaps under $100M with Hahn rebuild 2.0, unless there is a miraculous on field turn around and Sox are solid playoff contenders the next two years to avoid a substantial sell off. The money has been spent, poorly.

  12. Burger should DH. Eloy should play LF. move Benintendi to RF. Yes he hasn’t played there, but at least he’s an outfielder by trade. And he’s better than Sheets. I don’t want Burger getting injured, period. With Eloy, it’s an inevitability. So play Eloy out in the field, where he claims he’s most comfortable.

  13. Robert HR, Benintendi 2 RBI Romy 3-3 2 RBI and a triple ! Sox win 5-2 and 1st sweep of the season.

  14. Tampa is 20 games over .500 and they are up by only 2.5 games. In the Central their magic number would be like 5.

  15. Well they'll be down a starting pitcher for a game or two at least. We'll see how Grifol does with an "opener" since the Sox don't have any depth in this area. Thanks Rick!

  16. First White Sox Sweep of the Season! Seven White Sox Hitters with hits. Quality Start for Lynn, second White Sox save for Joe Kelly Three more shutout innings from the bullpen. The Bullpen scoreless streak now at 20 Innings! A Perfect Day for the Three Peat!!! Marv Albert on hot mike saying the inevitable. Clev

  30. It's important to keep Hanser Alonso in the lineup at 2nd, so I can see Burger in the OF. ....on second thought, it's nuts!

  32. From Ellis Burks to Client Frazier, the one thing that has been consistent about the never-ending Reinsdorf Tenure is his penchant for finding lightening in a bottle instead of employing outright bonafide difference makers. He'll never stop because Ellis Burks was a very good player and he actually won a World Series when he did the Mambo and hit the lightening in a bottle jackpot with journeymen ballplayers having collective career years. Why haven't the Sox come remotely close to that since then ? Because winning championship are coincidental - not the goal. The Almighty $ is. The Bulls are consistently in the top two or three in attendance playing in the NBA's Sistine Chapel yet haven't sniffed a Finals Apperance in 25 years.

  33. Eloy Jimenez returns and plays RF. Burger is the DH. Sheets can sub in RF and LF, at IB and DH.

  34. If I'm not mistaken Colas has taken a walk in 3 straight games. Maybe he's making progress. That's what I've been waiting to see. He can hit with his eyes closed in AAA but he has to take more pitches, be more selective and take his walks.

  35. Dude hit some majestic homers in Charlotte. The good news is he isn't a 1B/DH being asked to play OF.

  36. After Eloy returns it is a certainty that Burger will be inserted into the regular lineup at 2nd base. A player who has experience at third base can adjust quickly to adequately playing second base. Assuming Eloy resumes hitting, Sheets continues to furnish a power left hand bat, and Burger maintains his run producing output, the experiment with Jake at second base is necessary and unavoidable.

  38. Not an inaccurate picture of the forum but the forum is also not inaccurate in its assessment of the team. It’s a very bad team with no pitching, despite shutting down number 29 KC today.

  42. Much like Alexei Ramirez (whom one of the Sox broadcasters told me was "the dumbest shortstop in the league...) Anderson seems to lose focus and concentration far to often. He seems to have other things on his mind outside of baseball, his off the field antics were an embarrassment, he has lost all his power it seems, he can't stay healthy and has had numerous issues/suspension after interactions with umpires and fans. Other that that Mrs. Lincoln how did you like the play? If this is the "face of the franchise" no wonder the Sox are in a deep hole. Just my opinion.

  43. All of those bullpen guys throw really wicked s%*#. It appears they've figured out where to throw it. Otherwise, it doesn't take much to make hope swell in the chest of a Sox fan. Count me in.

  44. I don’t know why any of you trust this front office to make quality trades for less than absolute slam dunk assets like they had in 2016. Even those trades didn’t work out all that great, otherwise we wouldn’t be talking about this. Until real baseball evaluators with an actual plan take this org over the best option is to let it all run out and see if they get lucky. Or more likely, just let it burn.

  45. The guy is losing tens of millions of dollars each month he is not the TA of pre-Field of Dreams Days. His long term deal killed him and while it could have been used as a trade chip that's decreasing as well. He seems to always have some issue or another that is the rationale for stagnating as a player. Death of a friend, IG models, ejections, suspensions, lack of focus, injuries. As I have stated previously, 4 years ago the guy could have been the biggest star in this city now I am not sure what he is. This is probably the saddest aspect of this team for me as I really liked the guy and hoped for the best. Now he is anchored at lead off which is probably the worst sport for him in the lineup. He cannot adjust his approach at the plate at all.
