Every once in a while the ads go funky for a day or two; I'll look into it later tonight. Remember though - having ads helps cover the overall cost and ensure the site always remains free (which I have said for 20+ years and continue to reiterate - this place will always be FREE).5 points

Sox get two hits tonight in six innings vs. a pitcher with an ERA of almost six. All you can do is laugh.4 points

Now Santos gets multi-innings of garbage time. Crochet, the guy who wants to be a starter, gets .2 of an inning, high-leverage, every time out coming back from TJS. This organization is absolutely pathetic.3 points

Vaughn is a DH that hits for a 700 OPS. We sure are good at finding those guys.3 points

Moncada saw exactly zero strikes in that at bat.3 points

Just to point out, Jose Ramirez is wearing a similar sleeve/shoe combo to Moncada and Moncada has an OPS of .848 in a small sample size. His color choices are the least of this team's problems.3 points

It's a breath of fresh air having an actual left fielder. this game is 3-0 instead of 1-0 if Beni is not out there.3 points

Next 13 games against Det (7) Cle (3) and Laa (3). I could see 8-5 or 9-4 with the way they have been playing recently (esp. the SP and bullpen). 9-4 puts them 5 under .500 on June 4th with 4 months of play left. OK i'll sign off and go back to drinking my Kool-Aid3 points

I thought for sure that Vaughn would have a solid season. Sort of .280ish BA, OPS around .850 or so. Still attainable. One thing I have noticed is that he seems to get a lot of really shitty calls from Home Plate umpires. He'll get better.3 points

May 22, 1928 - Sox center fielder Johnny Mostil tied former center fielder Oscar “Happy” Felsch with an A.L. record 12 chances in a 4-3 win over the Indians. Mostil took advantage of a cavernous Comiskey Park center field to grab 10 fly balls (including all three outs in the top of the third) among all the chances. Mostil also initiated an inning-ending double play in the top of the sixth, snagging a liner off the bat of future Sox player Luke Sewell. As if scampering deep to center and into left and right field for fly balls wasn’t enough of a testament to Mostil’s speed and quickness, he also scored the eventual winning run on a wild pitch by George Uhle — from second base! Mostil also had three hits on the day, scoring two runs. May 22, 1977 - Richie Zisk became only the second Sox player in franchise history to hit a home run into the center field bleachers under the exploding scoreboard at Comiskey Park. He joined Dick Allen (1972) as the only Sox players to ever accomplish it. Zisk’s blast off the Tigers Dave Rozema in the eighth inning didn’t help the Sox win however. They got beat 14-3 despite recording 12 hits on the day. May 22, 1990 - Sox catcher Carlton Fisk struck a blow for baseball traditionalists. Fisk got into a verbal exchange with Yankee outfielder Deion Sanders after the two-sport star drew a dollar sign in the batter’s box before an at bat at Yankee Stadium, and then failed to run out a pop up. Fisk followed Sanders back to the Yankee dugout while shouting, “Run the ball out you piece of s%*#.” The next time Sanders came up to bat he said something to Fisk. Carlton started to go after him when John Hirschbeck, the home plate umpire intervened. Fisk was asked after the game what else he told Sanders. "There is a right way and a wrong way to play this game. You're playing it the wrong way. And the rest of us don't like it. Someday, you're going to get this game shoved right down your throat." May 22, 2019 – It was a night of firsts for the White Sox in a 9-4 win over the Astros. Things started off in the third inning when Houston had runners on first and second with no out. Future Sox player Jake Marisnick hit a shot down to third base. Yoan Moncada fielded it and stepped on the bag for the out, fired to second baseman Yolmer Sanchez for out number two, who relayed the ball to first baseman Jose Abreu just in time to nip Marisnick for a triple play. Then with the Sox up 4-3 in the sixth inning, outfielder Charlie Tilson launched a grand slam into the right field seats. It was Tilson’s first big-league home run. It was the first time in franchise history the Sox had both a grand slam and a triple play in the same game and only the fourth time in 40 years that had happened in baseball.3 points

The two primary differences between Clevinger and Bauer are 1. Clevinger's accusations also involved children in his domestic violence versus acquisitions against Bauer and the primary accuser appeared more damaging physically and 2. Baseball came down hard on Bauer primarily because the Dodgers wanted to get out of a nine figure contract. MLB and the White Sox didn't have the same motivation ending Clevinger's $12M deal. Neither had criminal prosecutions, both relied on he said / she said, both have multiple acquisitions against them. If there was evidence Hahn and the White Sox knew and signed him anyway, I wouldn't be watching any games until ownership and the front office were gone (Reinsdorf, Kenny, Hahn and Clevinger). F Osuna, Chapman and the rest of them.3 points

I can’t understand why we have folks making negative posts about Clevinger. I think he has done a pretty good job and hopefully this wrist issue resolves quickly3 points

With the Sox losing Clevinger to the IL they bring up Scholtens to take his spot in the rotation.....but something happened on the call Now Scholtens is coming out of the pen as the bulk guy tonight while Lambert gets the start. The Sox will have to make everyone beat them but Ramirez and Naylor. If they can do that they should be able to keep this streak alive. Go Sox!! Lineup: Pitching Matchup:2 points

Exactly. They punted the entire 2020 draft for a reliever and Kelley, who will be lucky to be a reliever in the bigs. With his control/command issues, he's close to joining Dalquist on the scrap heap.2 points

It's not talked about enough how the juiced ball in 2019 created delusions of what these hitters actually are. It was the worst thing to happen to the Sox.2 points

There was no credit for the steal of 3B with the caught stealing of 2B. Rosario has the lone stolen base for the Guardians in the first inning. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/white-sox-vs-guardians/2023/05/22/718072/live/live2 points

Great memories from that 1977 South Side Hitmen team. Richie Zisk hit 30 home runs that year and Comiskey Park was not a home run stadium with arguably one of the longest outfield dimensions.2 points

The Padres played in the NLCS last season and are currently 5th in attendance averaging 38,000 a game. The Sox missed the playoffs last year and are currently 23rd in attendance averaging 18,000 a game. You're laughing at the wrong guy.2 points

Dart to the 60-day would get you a free 40 spot, but Scholtens is already rostered and rested after being preemptively scratched from his Charlotte start this week. Not sure if they try an opener for mini Gio, but I assume he gets the bulk of the work if not the start. He pitched well his last time out: Lambert also hasn't pitched in like 10 days so he should be good for a couple if needed. Not the worst timing, with the Guardians also relying on spot starter Gaddis for the series opener. His last AAA start was a little more recent and moderately less impressive than Scholtens: 5IP, 1ER, 5H, 2BB, 6K. When Gaddis made a spot start last September against the Sox, he was tagged for 7 ER over 4IP and taken deep by Vaughn, Sheets, Yaz on one leg, Yo with no core strength, and of course the starting SS...Elvis Andrus. This makes him responsible for over 3% of the teams HR total last year, which is an unpleasant statistic for both parties honestly. Pitching needs to limit damage from Ramirez/Naylor returning to the Cleveland lineup, and the offense needs to take advantage of Gaddis' propensity to give up the long ball again (2.79 HR/9 in AAA this year). They haven't seen him before, but it would be a nice time for LRJ/Burger to stay hot and TA/Benny to hit their first.2 points

Correct. Pitchers drop like flies today. The Sox themselves have gone through this before, it was in 2018 or 2019 they had nine pitchers on the IL during a stretch. Yet clueless Hahn decides he doesn't need to get support. ? Seriously, how stupid can this guy be? You have to basically plan for at least, AT LEAST six guys ready to be in the rotation. I've always felt the best five after what they have shown in the spring are in the rotation to start, the sixth man is the long guy and the guy who takes the ball when the DH's start piling up. That can change during the season of course based on injury and effectiveness or lack of effectiveness.2 points
-
Come on man, I know there’s a lot of reason to s%*# on this front office, but let’s be fair here — you don’t go into a season expecting one pitcher to end up injured. No could have seen that coming, it’s not like teams can realistically plan for that kind of randomness2 points
