Jon Morosi is the Pedro Grifol of baseball insiders.10 points

I watched the video and this comment doesn’t have any real merit. Morosi’s point is no one can be untouchable after the year we just had, which is a meaningless take and not tied to Getz’s thinking at all.6 points

I disagree. I think he is a project for Banister and there is way too much talent there5 points

At least we are attempting to actually have an approach for the first time since the height of the Don Cooper years at the big league level.5 points

This is the correct take. They are pretty much picking where they should be. Would have been nice to be top 3 or outside of 6, but luck is a fickle mistress. Such is life.5 points

There is no part of the cba that is not geared to f*** over being a fan of the Chicago white Sox while Jerry reinsdorf is the owner. Everything puts our team at a disadvantage.5 points

I feel like that is Lip's schtick. Repeatedly telling people a pitcher has an injury, telling us to outlive Jerry, and telling us he interviewed someone associated with the White Sox.5 points

We go from a "Championship Window" team possible World Series team to this. How disgusting when this ownership group and front office fails us all!5 points

I keep checking for updates on this as if Erick Fedde is Ohtani. I need help.5 points

I maybe should have just automatically included Wells and Swisher on a master list and had people name 8 more.5 points

this seems like the work of Bannister, based on his twitter post shared in this thread, more than the 'Sox' generally. I'm optimistic about the move, he seems like a diamond in the rough, and now Bannister's so-called "pitching lab" will be put to the test.4 points

They had the 4th worst record so dropping a spot isn't a big deal. In the end it won't matter much anyway. Here's who MLB.com has ranked as the #5 selection just FYI: 5. Jac Caglianone, 1B/LHP, Florida Mayo: “Two-way player at Florida. He’s really interesting even if we are not sure what he is. Most people like him as a hitter. There are holes on each side. He has a ton of power, but tends to chase a little. Big, huge lefty. On the mound, he’s up in the upper 90s and misses a lot of bats. But, some command issues. We’ll see what he is. 6-foot-5, 290-pounds. He’s a lot of fun. I think it’s great for college baseball to have a legitimate two-way guy at that level, at the very least.” Yep...another first baseman LOL ?4 points

Now let’s sign Frankie Montas to like a 1 year, $13M deal and call the rotation adds complete (other than MiLB deals).4 points

The bust rate with the baseball draft makes me not really care.4 points

Do the Sox ever make sense? That was my point. And this board is insufferable enough without listening to incessant bitching about the top 1or 2 pick they would have gotten wrong.4 points

Am I reading correctly that we had the 4th worst record but got the 5th pick? Not great, but not a huge deal. The rule for next year's pick sucks ass though.4 points

Every game I attended in person with Joey Cora in a White Sox uniform....every one....he did something either stupid or made an error at a key time in the game or failed miserably at the plate. I'm more of a Durham/Iguchi/Bernazard guy myself. Also loved Jorge Orta. But I will not argue with you that I am one of the best.4 points

It'll be like having a 5th starter go every game. I still recommend bringing back Bryan Shaw and using him as the opener every day...Pedro is going to use him eventually so just get it over with early.4 points

I'd say the '25 trade deadline at the earliest. No way they can get his value before then.4 points

I get all this, but I mean, Morosi didn't even put this out there under his own Twitter account or anything, so there are no clicks to generate. It's from a podcast he was a guest on. And quite frankly, saying he could see Robert being traded is not exactly a bold or controversial statement.3 points

And waltz right out of the playoffs because pitching wins in the October.3 points

I always mention when I've spoken with someone for a story I've done to provide context and so that folks know I'm not pulling stuff out of thin air. As far as outlive Jerry, that's fact. There literally is NOTHING else you can as a fan do (you can always give up completely on the team I guess). JR is not going to change, period. His philosophy and values have been demonstrated for 40+ years, the results speak for themselves. Any fan who thinks otherwise is being delusional. I get it, fans need to have some hope but hope is not a recipe for success is it? So do what you need to do to stay alive and outlive current ownership, things may turn for the better after wards. I laugh when people include Santos in trades right now, the guy has an injury that very often leads to TJS, why would any team in their right mind, decide to trade for him or take him in any package right now? Makes no sense. If he shows he can pitch and pitch effectively perhaps he gets traded in July.3 points

White Sox Hall of Shame (1975-2023) Alphabetical order Daryl Boston Brooks Boyer Mike Clevinger Eddie Einhorn Ozzie Guillen Dallas Keuchel Tony La Russa Lance Lynn Jerry Reinsdorf David Wells Clevenger and Guillen involved chewing tobacco. Ozzie pulled spent tobacco out of his mouth and threw it at a mother and daughter respectfully asking for an autograph. I witnessed this personally pregame working as an Andy Frain at the Crosstown Classic at Wrigley Field on May 19, 1986. I was only a junior in high school but wanted to jump into the first base dugout where I was stationed during batting / fielding practice and beat his ass.3 points

It’s not really potential anymore. He was a 5 tool superstar in 2023 and that wasn’t even close to his ceiling as he still have several long stretches of being completely helpless at the plate.3 points

I mean, I guess the logic is that you'd be stocking up the farm and also replacing Cease with a younger, more cost-controlled pitcher. To me, having "good" players at this point is irrelevant. The team is going to suck, so whether you suck with a stud in CF or you suck with a dud in CF, it doesn't really matter to me.3 points

Imagine this sexy rotation post Cease trade: Mike Soroka Michael Kopech Erick Fedde Touki Toussaint Jared Shuster*3 points
