fucking hell. remember when all that stuff came out and the Sox were like "oops, we totally didn't know, we wouldn't have signed him" then they sign him like 8 more times11 points

Dude has numerous sexual assault accusations and goes out in the middle of COVID when he has sick managers/teammates...perfectly normal stuff. Dude checks his phone/internet when he gets woken up in the middle of the night...WHAT THE f*** IS WRONG WITH YOU10 points

2 dead giveaways how bad this signing is. WestEddy would endorse Bozo the Clown at SS if Getz signed him. He's stayed away. And TaylorStreet, the guy who hasn't left his mom's basement since Jose Valentin was playing SS, endorses it fully. It has to be terrible.8 points

Can't be said enough. No one wants this dude, except for us. We continue to be the stupidest franchise in baseball.5 points

I just don’t understand the strategy behind these veteran signings. He SHOULD be making signings LIKE these, but they should be with guys that have a chance to provide some actual value. The upside with Clevinger and most of the rest is that if they bounce back and play well, they’ll waste innings/ABs for the prospects, and still return nothing of consequence at the deadline. Like adding one win if everything goes perfectly is simply not worth the opportunity cost for this team right now.5 points

Disregarding everything that everyone thinks about him as a person, this guy has literally stolen 2 season of pay from this organization and gave us 28 games and like a 5 era. WHAT IS THE DRAW HERE5 points

Think about how bad it would be if I didn't go on my weekly posting rant. It would only be SS2K and 2023 fighting to validate each other against Eddy, Caufield posting nonsense nobody reads and the occasional worthwhile post provided by somebody at Sox Machine.4 points

You're kind of correct. I wouldn't care if they signed Bozo to play SS. It would probably be on a minor league deal. Clevenger's a POS, and I hate the signing. I won't post everyday that I hate Getz for signing him, but I don't like it. I also get tired of the a-holes who think it's funny to pretend Clevenger was "completely exonerated". He wasn't. I hope he tears his rotator cuff on his first throw, and that's the last we see of him.4 points

Sorry, while Tito had a variety of health issues, Carlos Carrasco was dealing with leukemia and was immuno-comprised at the time. So yes, Clevinger being reckless and getting COVID could have gotten his “teammate” killed. Not sure why that’s hard for you to process unless you missed the memo of the 1.2M US citizens who died from the virus.4 points

Thank god his caped crusader has come to the rescue! Definitely not fair for any of us Sox fans to dislike the team signing a piece of s%*# human being.4 points
-
His teammates seemingly don’t have any issues with him. I believe this is true but it’s still pointless. Even if you don’t care about the public blowback, there’s no upside. You can’t even flip this guy for anything. Just a pointless signing.4 points

When the always calm, cool, and collected poster that never fires back against anyone actually bashes TaylorStSox, you know who is in the wrong here.3 points

I can't really help it if you don't want to devote time to anything besides your ridiculous self-righteous crusade against women...or generally accusing them of being groupies/gold-diggers. That's a YOU issue.3 points

This team is a PR nightmare. Heaven help us if the Cubs win another WS soon. You can load this sorry ass of a franchise up in a hearse and head out of town3 points

lol…I’m worried about him? No, I’m just calling him a piece of s%*# human being because that’s what he is. You’re the one who has decided to make it your life’s purpose to protect the honor of men accused of domestic & sexual violence but ultimately not convicted of a crime from all these mean Soxtalk posters. And I love you downplaying him potentially getting his manager killed by calling it “doing some blow with strippers”. Not only did he put Tito’s life at risk, he lied to his entire fucking team about it. But again, you’ve dug into this hole of must protecting poor little Clevinger at all costs so none of this is all that surprising.3 points

Can't flip him for anything. He's always hurt. Do you really want him around your young pitchers? Even Westeddy hasn't tried to spin this one.3 points

Lol Jimmy, this is a hilarious comment. The White Sox have like 4 major league caliber players on their team. Guys that have no pedigree or sustainability in the league will not bad mouth a veteran and certainly won't speak vocally against teammates. They're just happy to be there. When clevinger has been elsewhere with actual MLB players, he only got along with the two guys everyone else hated. But hey, Brooks Baldwin hasn't ripped him so he's good to go.3 points

If present day John Rocker signed a MiLB deal with the team and then went to your home and took a s%*# in your sink, you'd come to the board and tell us how smart Chris Getz is for thinking outside the box.3 points

I’m upset because this means @Balta1701 is likely gone for another year. Remember how there were questions about how Clevinger could have been traded in 2023 but some posters argued that his $4 million dollar buyout was preventing teams from having interest in him, rather than his off-the-field issues? Well, it is now the third year in a row and literally no other team will touch this guy but the Sox. I think we officially know the answer now. This douchebag is now 34 years old. He brings zero upside for a 100 loss team. Even if he actually pitches well rather than getting injured yet again, no other team wants his ass. Clevinger is just another sh1t-stain besmirching this bottom of the barrel organization. He is the load of barnacles that get stuck to a boat, that the boat owner can never scrape off successfully. Getz truly is a grade A jackass. It’s too bad he isn’t obsessed with actual good players, just cheap old vets and jagoffs like this. Getz should be working on acquiring Canario, not this waste of DNA.3 points

This thread is wild. I like the burns particularly because we’re all looking at soxtalk on a Friday night. It’s also dinner time. It’s like a self burn, the joke is on all of us.2 points

lol…I love that you are pretending the only issue with Clevinger is the domestic violence accusations against his wife & child. How about when in the middle of a pandemic he lied to his teammates, went out partying with his buddy, and put his immuno-compromised manager at risk? Is that ok too since he wasn’t convicted of a crime in a court of law?2 points

You, meanwhile, were 100% spot on. There should be a lot of people apologizing for the shade that was being thrown at you in that thread.2 points

The point is you were all excited about acquiring Fletcher and now are saying Getz should have egg on his face as a result of the trade not working out. You are criticizing him for a move with the benefit of hindsight that you completely supported at the time of the transaction. You can’t have it both ways.2 points

At one time, not that long ago, the Sox had a legacy of social justice achievements that landed them on the right side of history in the 20th Century. That will not be true about the 21st century.2 points
-
Exactly, they continue to alienate what remains of a small fan base and in a few years no one will care if they decide to leave Chicago. A little bit of me still cares but it continues to dwindle.2 points
