It's nice, but the biggest advantage of Hell is you get to root for teams owned by Jerry Reinsdorf.6 points
-
I don’t think anyone thought it was real close. The story was never that Reinsdorf is selling. The story is that Justin Ishbia is t buying the Twins and the Reinsdorf’s approached him to take a bigger stake instead. Justin Ishbia is the overwhelming favorite to be the next owner of the White Sox at some point. That’s the story.5 points

Oh man, Sox fans are so lucky to have had these last 45 years.5 points

Bob Nightengale was on 670 this morning and speculated that Justin Ishbia has close to 40% of the team now.5 points

He's gotten much more correct on the Sox than he's ever gotten wrong. That trade was done but I believe Matt Foster or the pitcher in return was hurt and Arizona backed out.4 points
-
He's made it no secret that he wants to own a team, that baseball is his passion. Nothing you're saying makes any bit of sense, knowing what we know about the team ownership stakes he's already been involved in. You think he's building his Winnetka estate to flip it, too? That's what he does for a living, after all.4 points

I wasn’t blindly hoping anything…him dropping out of the Twins deal and buying a ton of White Sox shares after a call with Jerry tells me everything I need to know. And I never once said it would be an immediate switch…the deal with the minority investors doesn’t involve Jerry and I have always stated there would be have to be a follow-up transaction for him to take over control. No idea when that will happen, but I seriously doubt he’s going to wait for Jerry to die when there are ways to get around the tax issue for Jerry.3 points

So Greenberg lied about Jerry going to Ishbia during the discussions with the Twins? Yeah I’m not buying it, I think it’s closer than we’re all being led to believe but don’t think it’s happening this year or anything3 points

I honestly can't think of a lot worse than the current Sox situation with the current person in charge. After a promising start 44 years ago things started to go right down the toilet over time. I'll take my chances with someone else calling the shots.3 points

Come on, man. At least put some more effort into a portmanteau. Even something like Mar-Chi-Cago would have been acceptable.3 points

Despite an atrocious year for the Sox, the two Chicago teams had almost 4.3 million people attend games. And before last year, they saw 4.5 million+ annually. I might agree that Chicago wouldn't get two teams if MLB was to start today, but there are more than enough baseball fans in Chicagoland to support two teams. If (hopefully) the Sox get a new owner that actually wants to spend and put a good product on the field, the Sox could get back to having attendance of 2 million or more. Build a new stadium along with a better team, and attendance won't be an issue.3 points

I'll take my chances with a multi-billionaire who is rooted in Chicagoland and who is apparently willing to spend big time on his teams as the next Sox owner any day of the week and twice on Sunday....even if he and his brother have made mistakes in their first couple of years owning the Suns. The idea that he might actually buy the Sox almost sounds too good to be true to me.3 points

I'm perfectly fine with that. Sure beat the "has no money, and makes stupid emotional decisions that screw it all up (LaRussa)."3 points

Mariner’s OF is already pretty crowded. They have the prospects but I just don’t see them making a splash at this juncture.2 points

I don't think it's spring training numbers, I think it's about how healthy he looks.2 points

From what most people are saying, this is true. Its just not going to happen very soon and most people here were hoping. JR will still have control as long as his health holds out.2 points

JR isn’t done yet feeding on Sox fans’ souls. It’s adding to his years left.2 points

The Sox were literally the worst team in the history of baseball last year. The be careful of what you wish for stuff is the dumbest thing ever.2 points

Guys, but what if he owns a tree chipper and he painted on the side “puppies and kittens go in here”…..????? What will you think about him THEN!!?!?2 points

Black and white version of the '83 jersey looks fine, but it also looks like it took someone 20 minutes to design.2 points

He is way better than Bates. Johnson knows him and when he is healthy he is an above average guard. I think his cap hit is just under 10M.1 point

That was always the fear with Cease too. I’m not sure it makes a huge amount of difference by waiting. It would take more time than the Sox have to pump up his value to where we would be satisfied. In a different era where teams weren’t holding onto prospects, there could be more upside to waiting. We should just make our peace with the idea that we aren’t going to get what we’re looking for.1 point

Why do we need our long-term OF solutions on the 2025 roster? It’s clear that OF is going to require serious additions via free agency even if Braden hits.1 point

Ok... 1. Ayo is a tough fucking kid. 2. Bulls medical staff at it again. 3. Reinsdorf with these cheap ass staffs on both sides of town are the reason why the players are always getting injured.1 point

I think you and many were just blindly hoping it was going to be an immediate switch like it’s the flip of a switch despite others not believing that.1 point

He's at his best as a left guard which I'm assuming that's where he'll be. Also he's signed for another year but if he sucks this season, Bears can easily cut him next year with a minimum dead cap hit. I hope the Bears get Dalman and Zeitler as well and still draft o-line with a few of their picks to groom those prospects for the future.1 point

I definitely don't want to see the regular '83s ever again. I'd love to see them bring back the '50s Minnie Minoso hats/logos as the Sunday alternate.1 point

They need to knock it off with the 83 look. It sucks and it is played out.1 point

The channel is live in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa market...comes in crystal clear at my place. Still seems odd for me to switch inputs to watch a "Chicago" channel...but at least it works at this point!1 point
