  1. In all honesty - as much as it stinks - most of the young players did well at the plate and the pitchers like Smith did good - other ones who aren’t part of the long haul drove the loss.

  2. Team: Individual: Quero - .304/.338/.491/.831 Sosa - .291/.336/.544/.880 Vargas - .286/.349/.455/.803 Robert - .303/.370/.461/.831 Baldwin - .268/.339/.518/.857 Teel - .306/.351/.472/.823 Montgomery - .212/.255/.538/.793 Some encouraging signs so far with the younger guys and a nice bounce back from Robert. Hopefully they can keep it up throughout the rest of the second half.

  3. The Sox are 3rd to last in wRC+. That anchor they set last year is causing praise to be heaped on a guy in charge of the 3rd worst offense in baseball.

  4. Shane Smith is really exciting. I’m glad he’s tweaked the arsenal and he’s pitching this deep into the season. Good move on the Sox by giving him a couple weeks off to save his arm

  5. it's hilarious when the bullpen can lock it down when they're losing, but give them a gigantic lead in the 7th and they piss themselves

  6. Impressive. I think they have a great shot of 400 losses across 4 seasons. And people wonder why I turned negative on this club. They’re testing uncharted territory levels of futility.

  7. I am going to say it outloud. I am more excited for Brooks than I am about Chase. Feels like both more upside potential and positional flexibility once he settles in.

  8. Brewers broadcast said the Brewers coaches saw a flaw and they helped fix it. He can now see the pitches better and be more patient. They didn't say what specifically... With hitting its such the little things, especially mental. So, I wouldn't discount getting a new start factoring in...

  9. Remember that game in 2016 where Robertson blew a 6 run lead in the 9th inning against the Royals? I remember I was driving to Millennium Park and listened to that whole inning in disbelief and it put me in a real shitty mood. Luckily I was headed to the Gelato World Championship so I cheered up nicely...but it took until the 3rd gelato.

  11. Chris Getz is the best developer of talent Jerry has ever seen

  12. 41 wins last season. 56 win pace this season. Getz might not even hit 100+ wins in two full seasons (324 games).

  13. The run sequencing is getting a little spooky. It's like if they don't score in the first few innings they tend to start pressing and than don't do jack s%*#. If they do score, they relax and score more. Young team I guess.

  14. 3-13 over last 16 games. I thought this was supposed to be a different and better team than the one from April?

  16. It's a great hit tool, but it is a pretty empty one. I think pitchers will come after him more because of it as he ages.

  17. Would probably be closer to their expected W/L if Perez didn't go down so early

  18. Or have the Sox perhaps instilled that sort of culture over the years?

  19. Should we have been playing the kids, instead of playing shitty, washed up, old utility players? No, it's Hahns fault.

  20. Well, now they have hitting but not enough pitching, lol. Btw JR actually isn't giving Getz any money to spend. Depending on what happens with L.Robert and Alcantara in the offseason, the Sox might have the lowest payroll in baseball on OD 2026 after being over $200 million just 4-5 years ago.

  22. Unfortunately, it sure looks that way. The universal DH was probably inevitable anyway, but the "play every single team from the opposite league every single year" scheduling is a good way for them to try to make the AL and NL as entities appear irrelevant. But IMO, it'll be a very sad day for baseball if/when Manfred succeeds in this plan just so that the league, which has $12B in revenue, can save some travel money. Oh, they might keep the AL and NL names and make them geographical based, but any world where, for example, the White Sox are an NL team and the Dodgers are an AL team would render the names meaningless. You may as well call them Western and Eastern Conferences at that point.

  23. Definitely seems to have found something, but I'll reserve full judgement until next year, as his hot streak in Milwaukee has basically just gotten him back around his career averages.

  24. Well I don't think you snap out of your .531 OPS by NOT making some kind of change lol

  25. Horrible loss but the kids in the lineup will not let this defeat bother them and will bounce back but the bullpen has been horrible the last 2 games almost blowing Monday’s game and the horrible meltdown last night.

  42. Who sucked anywhere close to Andrew Vaughn who got this much runway?
    1 point
  43. The Cease trade deserves criticism. People ripping the Sox or Getz over Vaughn being traded and then magically being good is revisionist history at its finest. The dude sucked for years with us, every single poster here wanted him gone, and it’s almost all but a certainty he wasn’t willing to change with us. People ripping Fuller when there is empirical evidence of Fuller driving meaningful change in getting guys to lift and pull is the cherry on top. Also, not sure what people expected to get for a bad, one-dimensional, RH 1B who could only put up a 78 wRC+ after being demoted to AAA. Civale isn’t good, but they got him to eat innings done the stretch which was a better use of salary than the s%*# production they were getting from Andrew.
