When will we ever see an earth shattering free agent signing by the White Sox, so tired of picking up has been and never were guys.4 points

Wisdom couldn’t even hit lefties in his most recent MLB sample and is now 34. Unless it’s a spring training invite, I don’t get the point of this.4 points

Happy December, everyone. Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. Figured this thread would be about the draft lottery. With no significant signings anticipated, the lottery is all we care about, right?3 points

Getz is still scouring the Asian market for deals on stiffs.3 points

Thankfully the Rockies and A's still exist. Sox are bad, but there are other teams in the same boat.2 points

This is why coaching is so important. You pay these players millions and millions, while coordinators make a fraction of that and don’t count against your salary cap, yet teams will consistently bring in sub-standard people to run things.2 points

Why in Zeus’s name would the Sox want another R/R corner bat?! He’s in the Amaya, Capra, Palacios tier that makes this team so hard to watch.2 points

Better to get 7 than 6 because of the dumb rules. If they can’t get Roch, Emerson, or Spangler, I might go pitching. I am kinda out on LeBron and Burress. Undersized Righty hitters with contact issues struggle these days with everyone having two fastballs, three kinds of sliders and a seam effects change. Other than Cholowsky, give me the lefty bats.2 points

All jokes aside, if they trade Robert and don't spend the money, we riot. They almost have to do SOMETHING with it2 points

Yeah you gotta add at least someone interesting. Bleday had 20 bombs just 2 years ago from the left side. Also has 3 years of control if something clicks and you want him that long. Sign him. Edit: doesn’t have to be him exactly. Just someone who was once a top prospect that has had some success (even if a little bit).2 points

They are picking someone else up if I had to bet. And I think they think Braden will be up in May.2 points

If we plan to start Derek Hill post Robert trade, then Getz should be fired on the spot. Pereira is interesting, but shouldn’t be handed a spot. Benintendi probably shouldn’t play the OF much whether we are trying to win or trying to move him.2 points

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/47201350/mlb-winter-meetings-2025-offseason-free-agency-trade-intel-rumors-updates-buster-olney-jeff-passan Battle between Phillies and everyone else over Schwarber is the biggest story to watch as Tucker remains on the backburner. Olney: Cedric Mullins' choice to sign for a one-year, $7 million, with the Tampa Bay Rays could be a warning sign for this free agent class. Mullins was not a perfect free agent by any measure, after his struggles with the Mets, but the rapidity with which he agreed to a deal could reflect the general feeling that this market could play out like a game of musical chairs -- if you've got offers in hand, it'd be best to move fast and grab a spot (and money). Jorge Polanco could be among those who sign sooner rather than later -- he's coveted by the Mariners and some other teams. Harrison Bader set himself up well with a strong performance in Philadelphia. Olney: It makes sense for teams that have trade candidates under team control into 2027 to weigh offers now because they might struggle to get proper value for those players next July, given the labor uncertainty after the season. That means players such as Mackenzie Gore of the Nationals -- and Paul Toboni, Washington's president of baseball operations, said in a "Baseball Tonight" podcast interview Wednesday that he has talked with Gore about hearing his name in trade rumors -- and Stephen Kwan of the Guardians. Ketel Marte, E.Cabrera/Alcantara, B.Lowe, B.Donovan other big names on the early trade market. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/11/2025-26-top-50-mlb-free-agents-with-predictions.html&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwiH8bOFwqmRAxXAOkQIHb-ZBDUQFnoECAkQAg&usg=AOvVaw3afcNg9nzLp1Y3r1c9a_YV1 point

Wow. Indiana pulled it off. But now, they gotta do it again in the playoffs.1 point

Pretty much. Not much trade ammo left and don't expect significant spending. All about the youngsters developing at this point. Feel free to talk draft/lottery in the FutureSox draft thread. I'd love to be in a position to draft Roch or Lombard. Personally holding off on diving too deep into draft research until we know what the pick is. I'm already bracing myself for sadness. Edit: Also expect an interesting Rule 5 selection. Likely a pitcher. Lots of worthwhile arms to pick from.1 point

I dont think he tweeted it but they talked about it on his radio show this AM. He also reiterated the Ryan O'Hearn stuff, which is probably more notable should one actually believe anything Bruce says.1 point

Lol Caulfield. This has been brought up before. Bob Sacamano is a fictional character from Seinfeld. There's probably hundreds if not thousands of people using that handle to post online.1 point

And when have you ever said anything meaningful or memorable? A decade ago. Maybe. I've probably forgotten more than you know about baseball. Please stick to politics.1 point

Caulfield’s posts are just a random string of incoherent thoughts that just don’t ever connect. Best to stay away.1 point

Can you explain how a passing mention from the "always wrong" Bruce Levine sells tickets? Did you just buy a fistful upon hearing this news?1 point

Don't know to respond to this. Should we be "relieved" for wont of a better word that the White Sox, Rockies and A's are being talked about in the same sentence? Instead of the White Sox by themselves? 😐1 point

That is one of the worst contracts in mlb. I think $66 mil for a guy who’s considered difficult. I bet they want to trade him.1 point

No one wanted him because he is still owed $17 million dollars over the next 3 years. “Blue Jays sent RHP Yariel Rodríguez outright to Triple-A Buffalo. Rodríguez, who is owed $17 million over the next three years, passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from the club’s 40-man roster to make room for Cody Ponce.“1 point

Maybe you're right, but if Will Robertson can get claimed twice in the same offseason, Hill may have value to someone else.1 point

Sounds like our needs are: LH corner IF/OF bat Back-end reliever Back of rotation SP It’s also very obvious the Sox want to trade Robert and that would likely create the need for an OF to be added.1 point

It sucks so bad that two of my three favorite professional teams are literally owned by a bottom 5 owner across those sports. Honestly I think what is happening with Bulls is even worse than Sox. Bulls generate revenue and are a flagship franchise yet they have basically just stayed in NBA purgatory for past 7 years. How much longer do we have to put up with this s%*#…so sad and pathetic.1 point

I don't think that's true. Ever since the 2012 CBA came into effect, the Sox have spent all the money allotted to them to sign amateur talent in both the draft and free agency. Every year under Mike Shirley, they've exceeded their bonus pools to sign their guys. I think the reports of them signed guys in classes of 2-3 years down the line, Is enough of an answer to that question.1 point
