  1. Winning is fun. Thanks for taking Montero out at 65 pitches!
  2. BOS 9 CLE 4 FINAL. Sox 1GB now!
  3. Cubs lose, so the Sox finish May as the best baseball team in the city
  4. Congrats to Tyler Davis. 1st career save!
  5. Ken should go back to staring down a camera man that tripped. Fucking clown.
  6. “Playing hard every day and that's the mentality right now. That's the new White Sox. The 2026 White Sox: The mentality is win every day and make the playoffs." -Edgar Quero
  7. He’s got the stuff to be great. Actually might benefit us that he went through some MLB growing pains with CLE and then got returned to us.
  8. 32-27, who'da guessed? Sox finish the homestand 6-1. CLE loses again, Sox are 1 GB. 20-11 at home, 11-3 in the division! Side note: Tigers are a dismal 4-21 since Skubal went down. They have scored 5+ runs just twice in that 25 game stretch. Sox lead the AL in comeback wins with 16. After a .500 April, Sox finish May with an 18-10 record. Their most wins in a month since May 2021 (19-10). Pending the handful of remaining games, the offense finishes May ~top 5 in OPS/AVG, 1st in HR, top 3 in runs/SLG. June will be tough, especially without Mune. Gotta keep fighting and stay afloat.
  9. He is the best centerfielder in the city.
  10. If I was a tigers fan id be LIVID at hinch right now
  11. Yes, it's very gratifying to see that the front office appears to have made a concerted effort to create better balance in the lineup. At this point, the Sox might need a little more power from the right side. Roch, or Lackey would address that need.
  12. Burke legit good! Remember when @Look at Ray Ray Run said he “stinks”. It’s always good to have one hater to motivate the squad!
  13. A GM is only as good as the $$ he’s allocated. If you look back over the course of 2.25 seasons, Getz actually is doing a great job. Beni absolutely was an atrocious contract, but CG has made some solid signings, solid draft picks, and has built us from the worst team in baseball into what appears to be a playoff contending team, all without the ability to spend like even a mid-tier club in terms of payroll.
  14. Looks to me like this White Sox team is a team of destiny. The team will even be stronger when Mune and Teel come back.
  15. Sweeps happen when you are a good team. This is looking more and more like a good team by the week.
  16. Tigers fans are the least annoying of our division rivals. Cant stand cleveland or MN and KC has been obnoxious ever since they had 2 good seasons in their history
  17. Roch season over. Another disappointing game. I do have concerns with how the bat will play against elite pitching
  18. Use it on Teel & Muni's knee/hamstring and Jerry's wallet.
  19. After getting absolutely destroyed in the court of public opinion.
  20. Completely agree. Rikuu gives you what Acuna does. Can play IF and OF and steals bases. Plus speaks English and Japanese. If a team claims Acuna, no big loss at all.
  21. Gonzo had some phenomenal ABs today and a big hit that ended up pushing the winning run across. If he can hit .250+ with a little power, we should be able to at least play .500 baseball over the next 2-3 weeks—assuming everyone else keeps trending. That would be huge if we could come out of the NYY series still 2-3 games above .500.
  22. I hear ya but after 2024 and what we went through I don’t feel sorry for any team or will I ever regardless of how bad they are.
  23. One weird play from a perfect homestand. This team sure is something.
  24. Not catchers. We all know all SS can play C anyways.
  25. To quote @Y2Jimmy0 : Draft shortstops.
  26. Is Schriffen just waking up from a nap? He sounded like the Tigers hit that one not the Sox.
  27. Lillian is back! I hope you are enjoying your lefties.
  28. The first thing I must point out is that many people are way too focused on outcomes in these tiny samples of regional games. The White Sox will factor in how guys play in the tournament but the play by play of Lackey looking better than Cholowsky isn't what the Sox are focused on and they should be removed from their jobs if they are. It's a cop out answer but the Sox need to take the best player. I'm guessing the 3 legitimate options are Cholowsky, Emerson and Lackey. The totality of their production matters. It will all be accounted for. They care a lot about makeup though and this is still a projection business. It's puzzling to me that people think any of these guys are finished products. Cholowsky is a swing and approach alteration away from looking like a guy with a much higher ceiling. He's also a great defender at shortstop and from all indications has everything the Sox look for from a makeup standpoint. Money matters too but when you have the top pick, you need to take your top guy. I love Grady Emerson. My issue with him is that he won't be much cheaper than Roch and you're basically hoping that he's as good or better than Cholowsky is in a few years. Both should be in the $9.5-$10 million range. Lackey will be cheaper than that because he has a different agent. The number I heard floated for him at #1 was $8.7 million. I've heard a lot of things though and it's tough to decipher what's true. I generally would prefer to take a shortstop and if that's Emerson, I'd be fine with it. They just better be right. I'm not that interested in taking Lackey at 1. I just don't like the idea of taking a catcher and I think taking him with the intention of moving him is dumb. I'm a coward and I'd probably still take Cholowsky but I understand why some are underwhelmed.
  29. This is where I don't understand the hate for Getz. The 1st rebuild fails because while they were tanking they never quite tanked bad enough to get top draft picks in a time where you could really suck like Houston and did and be drafting in the Top 3 for multiple years. But still they sucked at drafting and Player Development so the influx of talent dried up . A lot of people hated Getz automatically because of his ties to the Sox in the previous regime. But under his leadership the Sox purged a lof of that old regime. But still cries went up to purge everyone . But if that happened then Mike Shirley would be gone too and Getz also had the sense to keep Shirley and he's been nailing it while Getz also hired Directors of Hitting and Pitching for the Franchise Ryan Fuller and Brian Bannister in Player Development so now Shirley's picks have better tutelage on the road to The Show. 2 rebuilds and Getz had less talent to trade to get huge minor league talent except for Crochet. It's early but the Crochet trade may end up better than the Sale trade. Our draft picks and the guys from trades seem to be clicking and a Japanese Superstar fell into our laps and scrap heap pickups continue to shuffle in and out of the lineup and a few come up aces while a few get away if they don't perform immediately ( Mead). That's just the nature of cycling through a ton of AAAA guys. This will also happen but when I see people suggesting trading guys like Jacob Gonzalez, Billy Carlson or Grant Taylor ( from last year) for reinforcements for this year it's hard to fathom. Some prospects we trade away will blossom. That happens if you have a lot of talent like Dodgers with Michael Busch and Vargas and Yordan Alvarez. The difference of course is it doesn't matter to the Dodgers because they buy what they want and play in So Cal which is a preferred destination of not only MLB talent but also Japanese talent. The Sox can't afford to yet talent that they developed slip through their fingers when injuries and non performance can happen to our talented group of youngsters as we have seen (Teel, Vasil , Shane Smith , Quero,Murakami and a long list of pitching injuries and non linear development among our top MiLB pitchers.) The smart play is just stay the course and let things play out the closer we get to the TDL. How the Mune injury and contract , the eventual return of Teel , how Gonzalez plays, how Schultz pitches ,and the eventual call up of Braden Montgomery, the Dominican Academy and our 1-1 draft pick will determine not only the immediate future but the future of the franchise. The Sox can never be the Dodgers because no matter how much Ishbia spends (hopefully) Chicago is still not So Cal. Many may not have believed it in 2024 but Getz should have earned some credit by now no matter how much you hated him and hated how the 1st rebuild failure broke your heart through underlying franchise incompetence.
  30. If this has been posted, I apologize. It made me giggle.
  31. Colson Montgomery hit career HR #35 today, in career game 128. Fastest to 35 in Sox history, beating Abreu by 5 games.
  32. Like a mother in nature accepting her babies as her own.
  33. Eh, he's rocking a .771 OPS the last 28 games. He's gotten better after his horrendous start.
  34. Update: Teel was to begin a running program yesterday per Bruce Levine. His original timetable was 3 to 6 weeks for this new knee injury. He’s at just shy of two weeks right now, so hopefully he’s a bit ahead of schedule and closer to the low end of the range. If he’s ready in two more weeks, he’d miss the Braves & Dodgers series, but would be back for the Yankees & Guardians. I’d consider that a win at this point. The other question is when he returns, which catcher gets demoted to AAA? Romo has been the far more productive player and has been killing LHP, which is something Quero should be doing in theory. That being said, Quero has been heating up a bit with a 160 wRC+ since the Cubs series (some BABIP luck for sure though). Right now, I’d lean keeping Romo and letting Quero get everyday at bats in AAA.
  35. Think we should get news on Pallette any day now.
  36. 2 points
Im going to Truist Field for the first time today. Excited.
  37. Hey, I googled it. Good explanation. So, I actually got smarter reading Soxtalk.
  38. Nah Imma do my thang. I'm supposed to eat s%*# through years of a lot of people pretending this isn't a rebuild just like the 1st rebuild was but somehow it wasn't to you and some others stuck in the past ? f*** that. Being right is being right because others were wrong and don't like hearing about it and want to keep suppressing the truth . Freedom baby it's a wonderful thing. Why you keep putting me in your mouth ? Everybody you're supporting makes fun of you and your posting style for years and I'd stick up for you. You want me to admit I'm wrong ? Fine I was wrong for ever sticking up for you. But I still like Greg and WB Tra La La La and others who are the butt of jokes around here. That's what immature is, attacking those who won't fight back. God Bless America ! I guess it's easy to be a Fascist in return for fake online comrades.
  39. No, being condescending while mocking others for being "irrational" because they won't declare that a pitcher who looks like a shoo-in for the All-Star game "stinks" - is what rubs many the wrong way. Laughing at the appropriate term "market inefficiency" makes you look argumentative about things that aren't controversial. Calling a team with top 3-6 players (at their positions) in the lineup "mediocre" and then arguing that for pages in the face of reasoned evidence makes you look like you're just being a contrarian for the sport of it. I don't care if you admit you're wrong. Everybody here is wrong a lot and admit to that pretty easily. Stop acting like you're hated because you're so freaking smart. Or don't.
  40. Dick Allen played 3rd and some outfield in the NL. When he came to the Sox he played first base exclusively. When a former NL opponent asked him what you had to do to play first, he reportedly said, “Hit like a motherf***er.” Which he did. If Gonzales swings it like he had been, he’ll be fine playing first.
