  1. Sorry, that's not happening at least with this individual. Screw them all.
  2. Two innings for Shane Smith, 34 pitches. 1 hit (single), no walks, 2K. Touching 97 with the heater.
  3. This is worse than trying to sabotage gamethreads.
  4. Sox also have had some bad luck with an almost homer and a couple of really good defensive plays. One of those games.
  5. That was an annoying inning. Inch away from a HR and a ridiculous catch to save 2 runs.
  6. If Mune is running at or close to full speed ( at least one video looked like he is) and hitting without any leg pain, he could be activated tomorrow. Mune at DH with Gonzo at 1st. Ideally, the Sox need at least a split with Cleveland to keep the momentum going into All Star break. The line-up will finally be assembled. Go into Cleveland with all guns blazin' for the 4th of July holiday. Can't afford to give any more games away like they did in Game 3 with the O's. All aboard.
  7. Frustrated ain’t the word I’m using with the season currently.
  8. Well the fact that they are in a race where every game could matter even more significantly over time...they may want to rethink that philosophy. Third straight series they had a chance for the sweep and could not close it out. Very frustrating.
  9. Maybe? Why does everyone feel the need to declare a game over early? Especially with how often this team has come back. Just wait.
  10. Unfortunately Teel can’t catch every single day.
  11. This has to be a parody account at this point.
  12. Either way, Braden is really becoming an offensive threat. No question about it.
  13. When Schultz figures out how to control his stuff, he's going to be elite!
  14. Joe Rock is a giant left-hander with a funky throwing motion, I think it's obvious why the Sox were interested in him. It's like asking what somebody sees in Sydney Sweeney since she says dumb things sometimes.
  15. You named two Hall of Famers and a flash in the pan catcher who couldn’t catch. Not sure how these are remotely apt comparisons for a guy we traded Ben Peoples for.
  16. Surprised some are upset about this. You can have success in the minors walking 5 guys per 9 innings but that crap isn’t going to fly in the majors. Not sure what Getz’s obsession is with stocking catchers, but I doubt Peoples is any sort of loss. He’s a lottery ticket for a reliever that couldn’t lower his walk rate and was going to be gone soon either way.
  17. Way to Ron proof it again @WestEddy
  18. I’m fine with it for someone like Detmers
  19. Yea has been eerily quiet on the Mune front... Most recent update (at least that I see) was last Friday 6/26 taking BP/running at 85% Tomorrow is 1 day shy of 5 weeks and they said the 4-6 week timeframe was still on track. Would be an awesome surprise to see the announcement tomorrow but I'll hold my breath. I think we need the OG Mune champion @Chicago White Sox to will this into existence.
  20. Yes. I'm consistent with my criticism. That was totally unprofessional by the Cubbies.
  21. You have to take all those with a grain of salt though. It all depends on what a team is willing to pay for his services.
  22. 2 points
Shane Smith for WS, TMcD to follow
  23. Alot to like about Schultz's effort even if it got away from him a little at the end Very encouraging
  24. Getaway day after they won "the series" with several players getting days off. Just call this a planned loss.
  25. According to Baseball Savant/Statcast the arm is as advertised.
  26. Can't turn your head up at 2 of 3 on the road. Orioles are decent at home.
  27. The games not over yet some of you guys want to throw in the towel too soon.
  28. Statcast data on Braden's arm has him averaging about 91mph on competitive throws, which is very good. And FWIW, those same metrics say he's holding runners better than the average RF. But the hardest throw has been 93mph, which is pretty unimpressive and certainly low for a player with a reputed 60-70 grade arm. On the showcase circuit he hit 100 on outfield throws which is more in line with what you'd expect to see on occasion from a guy with a gun out there. But you look at him throwing and it doesn't look like he's throwing it as hard as he can basically ever. He makes some throws that look impressive, especially on plays where there's no time to get momentum behind the throws — the ball comes out like a strong-armed 3B would throw it on a ball to his backhand side. But then on the few plays like that sac fly, it looks like he throws it with more concern about making it accurate. There's worse things you can do, but it has just left me wondering whether he's nursing some soreness or something.
  29. Edgar was starting to hit the ball hard the last couple weeks before Teel came back. That’s why it’s so confusing he was the one to go down. Romo can’t hit and he can’t catch. I’m not sure what the thought process is there. Also, if people haven’t figured out that Lee will not be catching for this team at the Major League level again, I’m not sure what else they need to do to show you that’s not happening. Quero is 23. He’s like the 3rd youngest catcher in baseball. They don’t have to “salvage” him. Catchers have weird development paths.
  30. Good time for one of those extra crooked number innings from the Sox
  31. It is at the point with Romo you have to send him down. He is an automatic out.
  32. Coby Mayo, I guess I could see that being a real name Colby Mayo sounds like a flavor of salad dressing
  33. I’ve lived in Florida for 33 years and spent a year in Vietnam but the most uncomfortable 2 days I have ever experienced were in 1967 visiting Washington and Baltimore.
  34. Best off speed stuff we've seen so far today. Really nice command on all his secondary pitches.
  35. 1/3 of the way there for Baronstradamus
  36. Good with resting him today, would rather have him off today and play all 4 in CLE
  37. Since returning from tweaking his back, Colson Montgomery has started the last 17 games.
  38. Beni is having a decent year.Perhaps he could be traded for a pitcher. Have Gonzalez and Mune alternate betweeen DH and first Base.
  39. But that makes him unavailable for days. I would imagine it is him.
  40. Why not? They've probably tried a dozen different ways to get him to throw strikes consistently, and he can't. They're limited on roster size, and the total number of players they can have in their system. Maybe the Rangers wanted him now, and they're going to need roster slots with guys like McDougal and Shane Smith starting their own AAA IL rehab assignments. Plus, you have the draft in a couple weeks, and promotions and cuts to make room for some of those guys. The Sox have been grabbing guys off of waivers and throwing them out on the mound. Nikhazy, Bido, Lucas Sims, Joe Rock, Trevor Richards. There has obviously been an opportunity for a guy like Peoples to pull it together and get some major league innings. He couldn't.
  41. Hes a free agent in 3 months and would have to be added in the next 90 days before then to contribute. With the 40 man holding 48 players, you presumably only add him to the active roster for one of our ~4 righty bullpen spots that is currently Dominguez, Taylor, Hicks, and Trevor Richards. Our right-handed bullpen situation may not be great but he'd have to leapfrog a lot of players to get there in that very short period. Off 40 man guys Pallette and Iriarte. Then 60 day IL guys due back Berroa and Thorpe. Then actual 40 man guys Shane Smith, David Sandlin, Gonzalez, Tanner Mcdougal, Duncan Davitt, Tyler Davis, Johnathan Cannon. Sure youd maybe take him above some guys there but they too are going to be victims of a roster squeeze as it is. There's also a big crunch on the left side as well in the bullpen that limits the spots because Getz loves lefty releivers.
  42. Sox went 13-12 in June with a +25 run differential despite no Murakami, only four legit SPs, and having to face the Phillies, Braves, Dodgers, Yankees, & Guardians.
  43. With the Reds struggling so much, I could see Lodolo being someone the Sox have trade interest in. Fits their mold for lefty pitcher and has another year on his deal.
  44. Sending out 10 expected WAR at pre arb prices to get Chapman and Gray is stupid. We'd be on the hook for something like 30 million including the Gray buyout, and Chapman has a 15 million dollar option that I believe according to spotrac is guaranteed as long as he passes a physical at the end of the year. For taking on all that salary relative to the performance we should be giving up a couple lotto tickets and Adams, not including Carlson and Fauske.
