  1. This is really fucking up our draft position.
  2. 9 points
Thank god its just a skin eating bacteria, and not a trade. Phew.
  3. Excited to see how the goalposts move again for some people.
  4. I'd be absolutely shocked if he's back. I thought he was gone after last season. The Sox intentionally went from one of best tv booths to one of the worst. I expect them to hire an adult at some point in the off-season. It's market 3. Wayne Randazzo, Stephen Nelson, Jack McMullen, Adam Amin and countless others make plenty of sense.
  5. Sounds like Soxtalks favorite game of TRADE OR TOMMY JOHN
  6. FWIW, parsing through AI output to try to decipher what, if anything, is actually accurate/useful/relevant often takes more mental energy than just using your brain directly to begin with.
  7. Your first place Chicago White Sox faced the best team in the AL with the best home record in the league, and came away with a decisive series W. They have a 37-6 record when scoring 6+ runs. They outscored the Rays 15-3 over the series. The Rays were lucky to steal the middle game, a couple bloops fall differently and it's a Sox sweep. Only the 4th home series loss for Tampa this season, and the first in nearly 2 months (June 3). Kay was excellent over 6.1 scoreless against a team that was 15-1 vs. LHSP coming in. Everson Pereira had a nice revenge/breakout game with a 2B, HR, and 4 RBI. Mune extended his on base streak to 19 with a late double. That's every game since his return. He's gotten a hit in 10 straight. Beni also looks ready for a postseason push, nice little .833 OPS over his last 14 games. Well deserved off day tomorrow before facing the still obscenely hot Red Sox.
  8. I dont know what this move does but Castillo has a good resume. He wont be overwhelmed and hopefully can stabilize things. They didnt move anything of worth.. They took on money. All are positive signs for me.
  9. John Schriffen is orders of magnitude dorkier than Jason Benetti
  10. Anyone else old enough to remember when Tuesday's loss was supposed to be the start of an often predicted but yet to be realized soul crushing downward spiral? 😅
  11. So you felt the need to expressyour opinion, that people shouldn't express their opinions. Cool. How about you relax? Better yet, get off my lawn

Today Anthony Kay shoved against arguably the best team in the AL in their park
  13. He's a good dude and a solid professional. I think bringing him back has definitely been a net positive
  14. Just a warning to the thread - the owner discussion is over. There is another place for it and nobody cares here.
  15. Yeah to me it just reads like a general "the trade deadline is tough from a human standpoint" type tweet.
  16. That's just it. He doesn't even have to be a savior to be a massive upgrade over literally got a world series canceled to save a few bucks
  17. Maybe the Sox see something they can fix. The problem is, it has to be immediate. At least Sir Anthony is gone. He ruined my day a few times.
  18. It Bonemer is what it takes for Detmers then the answer is a hard pass on him
  19. I’ll be honest…I’d have been way more mad if we dealt Bonemer or Carlson for Detmers for this deal.
  20. This sport is so stupid.
  21. Yet we took on the whole Castillo deal. Will never understand it.
  22. Instantly love and want this kid.
  23. Or CLUBHOUSE JERSEY VANDALISM
  24. There’s no way those 3 cost that much. If that’s what the Mets want then they are insane.

Kanny came back to win 8-4. Fitzwater with his first HR 2-4 2R 2RBI. Holcomb 3-3, bb. Fauske with a big triple, his 9th of the season. To me, he's the untouchable on that team even ahead of Carlson.
  26. Why ? No one wins with small ball. It's bombs that win games. Plus Colson hits LHP better than RHP.
  27. Now would be a nice time for a bunch of rumors to heat up. It's been so fucking boring.

Reports of Pereira's demise may have been premature!
  29. Huh? Pissed about what? Sounds like Smith could have been a headliner if sox threw in some other back end guy. Definitely prefer that to Castillo.
  30. I think this trade is bad for baseball.
  31. 4 points
Pereira is not good. Try Hays next please.
  32. Prediction: Castillo is our El Duque. Middling results from a vet, but comes up big when it matters most for us. Sox sweep world series again, of course.
  33. I know this may be hard, but baseball owners don’t need to be your hero’s. We simply need someone who is better than the s%*# show that is Jerry Reinsdorf. And guess what, all signs point to Ishbia being willing to invest in his product and not being a risk adverse b****. I can’t believe there are actually adults who are upset over him taking over because his profession. You may not like what he does for a living, but he’s not some sort of criminal like Steve Coen or racist like Donald Sterling. You honestly come off as a little teenage snowflake.
  34. He hasn't had a good change up in 4 years. The problem isn't even with giving a castillo a whirl, it's that the Sox got beat up on the value side of this trade.
  35. Incorrect. That's Merrill Kelly money. Starters cost so much money on the open market. I'm not saying Castillo is some big surplus value, but a short term FA deal for a starter will cost a ton for a guy who will not excite you much.
  36. My first impression of this trade is not to do cartwheels. However, Getz and this staff have picked up some great reclamation projects that have worked out so Im hoping they've seen something with Castillo that they can address and turn him into a quality starter again. Also, $25 million may not be a huge salary next year. Assuming a deal gets done, there will definitely be a salary floor. Teams like the Dodgers and the Yankees will have to trim payroll but at least 8-10 teams will probably have to add 30-50 million in payroll to reach the floor. As a result, you'll see some contracts that will look worse than this. In summary, I'll wait to grade this deal but im giving our staff the benefit of the doubt.....they've earned that.
  37. Better not say Boston Smith or the people will riot.
  38. I so hope they get knocked out of the playoffs early. F’n ridiculous.
  39. Disgusting.
