  1. Sorry, was walking to my phone to vote but I pulled my hamstring off the bone

“For penis on the dollar”? Get your mind out of the gutter, @caulfield12! You can’t buy MLB players the same way you buy ladyboys in China!

I will say if Seya is willing to take a bit of a hometown discount to play with his bestie... I'd do it. I think in a few years, he'll be a full time DH as he's dealt with some knee issues in the past. But rotation needs to be the focus.

I was pretty sure you would know the best spots.
  5. I think the final paragraph of the article sums up the season perfectly, for this squad to makes the ALDS was a massive achievement, but to then lose it after going 2 games up in a 5 game series and to strike out like they did in the last 3 games exposed the shortcoming in the offense, and the pitching was on the brink all season and just finally fell apart in the final 3 games, particularly the 2 games at home. Overall, there are many positives from this season but unless the obvious flaws in the squad are adressed then hoping for a repeat next season (if it happens) may lead to disappointment.

Positionally he is kind of a floater, but i do not get rid of him at any cost. I find him a spot and I let him lead off every game. Too much of a spark plug, and with all of the low average, strikeout hitters we have, I want someone who finds his way on base at all cost.
  7. So many threads about negative fire just wanted to yin the yang. BIG step forward this year I'll see y'all in the spring.
  8. If Mune and Kolson's second halves are real, there is a problem. I do think the last few games especially, everyone except for Antonocci and Vargas were trying to hit every pitch about 500 feet. I have never seen so many whiffs on fastballs right down the pipe but 2 to 4 inches above the strike zone. Have to lay off those. Usually, it's easier said than done.
  9. I got to interview Abreu for a school project and he was the chillest dude.
  10. Honestly it is Abreu, and then anyone else.
  11. I’m kinda putting the post-Paul Konerko career to 2025 in a box, and moving on. 2026 is a nice start to a new era.
  12. I don’t want think about any of these people ever again. Cease can come back if he can give us 32 starts.
  13. And Caleb Wilson from the Bulls if he also becomes legit.
  14. They led the Al in runs and going into the post season walked a lot is what he will rely on. I guess I am just jaded by the historical ineptness that befelled them by a good but not elite Cleveland staff.

I want Sam leading off every game even against LHP. Sam will find a way to impact a game. Vargas is on the verge of super star and Meidroth is already super good. Braden either figures out how to hit LHP or he needs to be platooned. Teel as the main catcher will increase the production from the catcher position. Mune is going to walk, strike out and homer. Colson will most likely be the starting SS out of ST. I think he will be on a short leash if he bats like he did the last 2 months of this season. Peters is another one that you don't know what you are going to get with the bat. Doyle as the 4th outfielder is pretty good with his lock down glove. Depending on his playing time I would like to see his power numbers go up. DH --- Does Grich come back? Benny has 1 year left and had decent production for his ab total but I wonder if he can do it again. UT - Yet to be determined
  16. That is the last thing I want, this thread is my fav.

There is plenty to rip Venable for, but dude was given zero SP and had to be creative down the stretch and in the playoffs. Free agent SPs should be eager for the opportunity to join a playoff team in one of the worst divisions in baseball who are desperate for SP.

I’m super high on Baldwin and think having a LH utility guy on the bench will be a huge plus for us. He is a major upgrade over Acuna for sure. This is what I’d like to see Lineup: 1B: M. Murakami* 2B: C. Meidroth SS: C. Montgomery* 3B: M. Vargas LF: S. Antonacci* CF: T. Peters* RF: B. Montgomery# DH: A. Benintendi* CA: K. Teel* Bench: IF: B. Baldwin# OF: B. Doyle OF: R. Grichuk BC: J. Bart Bonemer comes up in May or June and replaces Benintendi on the roster.
  19. It's the offseason! So let's have some fun and talk about past eras of White Sox baseball! Who was your favorite player of the Hahn rebuild era? You can base this purely off of on the field production, or feel free to include their personality and off the field persona as well!
  20. Rays don't waste outs everything they do has a purpose
  21. 2 points
Let's not get too high on Bonemer just yet. A .260 hitter in AA doesn't project to the majors very well. Colson lesson learned. We don't need another .200-ish unproductive bat. If he can get to upper .200's in Charlotte and maintain his slug then he'll be ready for the show.
  22. My favorite was when we had Hamilton and Burr on the same team.
  23. Hopefully the phrase "Ol Yeller" is used.
  24. Lets make every thread about Colson Montgomery.
  25. The Sox finished tied for 2nd in the AL with 104 wRC+. They were 5th in MLB. For as long as I've been online, fans have been screaming about the Sox using stats-driven strategies. Detractors kept posting how small our data analysis departments were, and how we would never catch up to the league because of a modern day Zeno's Paradox. We finally get close to state of the art, and everyone's complaining about one guy in the batting order who should be in a different spot, how the current trends are ruining the game, or whatnot. 25 other fanbases are all saying the exact same things.
  26. HOW DARE YOU BRING FACTS INTO THIS THREAD INSTEAD OF IRRATIONAL ANGER AND RAGE!
  27. 2 points
Jim Callis is saying Bonemer could be starting for the Sox in the OF in 2027 by mid-season, interesting.
  28. I want to see the Rays & Brewers in the WS.

I feel Braden got rushed...but held his own to the point he should still be in the plans...but he certainly has to improve!
  30. 2 points
If he gets more OF reps, I can see Braden on the hot seat. I pray I don't ever have to see Acuna or Romo ever take another at-bat again.
  31. World-class museums, too. It's been ranked best big city in the US for 10 straight years. Winters still suck, but they're not nearly as bad as they were in the 70s and 80s....not even close. Now imagine having two top-rated ballparks in the same city. Like it or not (I don't), Wrigley is a bucket list-destination for many people. It would be great for the city if we could add a Petco/Oracle/PNC-level ballpark for the Sox on top of that. I know me saying this will make someone throw a huge hissy fit, but I'm still going to say it.
  32. I dont feel venable should be fired. Does he have to fine tune some things? Sure! But honestly he was dealing with a patched up pitching staff and a young team. Getz did better than I thought, anybody who steps in that role is already at a disadvantage with Jerry being frugal
  33. I stopped looking at X a while ago, before the season started, partly because of the number of uninformed baseball "fans". There are a number of groups on Facebook filled with trolls or truly uninformed people who became insufferable over the last three games. The number of people who believe Venable should be fired was staggering. Someone even said to bring in Don Mattingly. This was an amazing season that ended frustratingly. The pitching was gassed, and I think the whole team was beat. Venable is a manager of the year candidate (and likely top contender). Getz is likely an executive of the year candidate (less deservedly so). So many young guys exceeded expectations, and some veterans really stepped up. It's has been several years since watching the White Sox was fun. It was a blast this year. I can't wait for 2027.

I think its very unlikely that everything returns from this season.. they're going to sign some players, im sure there will be trades made. Something will be different. I hope they finally bite the bullet and release Benintendi. Its the final year, that's usually when they make that move. Id prefer them to do it before the season to improve the roster flexibility. There's no reason to carry him for a few months getting nothing from him just to cut ties in May/June. My guess is Bonemer is going to take an OFers spot when he eventually comes up, most likely Peters or Antonacci. Even if Roch takes a full year in the minors, someone is going to have to be moved as there aren't enough spots to go around and if you have a valuable excess chip it only makes sense to cash in on it. Someone has to be moved eventually to help improve the starting rotation.
  35. Again, why not Michael Kopech? He came in with probably the highest expectations of anyone in that era, yet when the disappointments are listed, his name is never mentioned. Good teammate? Dude punched his roomate in the minors. The story he cheated on his wife within six months of their marriage, hence the quick divorce. Drug suspension, and racist social media posts also happened during his career. He also opted out of 2020. Is it ever brought up when he is mentioned? No. Why?

The 2025 version of Colson would be pretty good. I don't want to sell low on a 30+ home run hitting SS without trying some adjustments first.
  37. A limited point I think. Yes, they cratered during the Cleveland series. But it’s only 1 series. They took it to 5 games without starting pitchers. They’re young, gonna make changes and improve the talent. The “ approach” can be tweaked with better talent.
  38. Sorry man, I don't hate them. I envy them and Milwaukee and Tampa Bay. They make the playoffs seemingly every single year. The Sox with all the advantages of a major market can't seem to get out of their own way let along even post a winning season. Only six since 2007 began.
  39. Take Murakami with you.
  40. This is my mindset. Only real gripe should be able Getz failing to get any pitching at the deadline. Otherwise, we as fans should be pie in the sky. Oh - and our hatred for Cleveland should also be exponentially more vast.
  41. Yes, let's not lose sight of who the real enemy is in all this......Justin Ishbia.

People, for some reason, think what the Sox did towards the end of the year was this brand new strategy they will do forever instead of something they had to do because of current personal.
  43. Let’s not get this thread locked. It’s one of the few pure sources of fun here, at least for some of us
  44. Seven qualifying batters hit over .300 this year. .316 was the batting title. It's just not how the game is played anymore.
  45. I think the twins were wrong to do what they did. We have been begging for a hitting coach like Shomon. We get one and we want to fire him. If I have to sit through the bullshit of 2022, where we ranked #1 in batting average and had multiple .300 hitters but no 20 home run hitters, I will lose my s%*#.
  46. 2 points
Remember, Sox get Baldwin and Murray back, so I imagine Acuna is gone. Then there’s the possibility that they add Bonemer and possibly Cholowsky. So, there will be changes. Do not buy they are trading Colson and giving ss to Bonemer. They are moving him to of.
  47. 2 points
I think he gets non-tendered. Projected to make like $3M and was traded for a guy we DFA’d. No loss
  48. 2 points
Joey Bart is still under contract. I imagine it'll be him.
  49. This team kept trying to push him out of the rotation for some reason, even in the playoffs. He never got the respect he deserved.
