  1. TA going is real. Not saying its pending or anything, but it's a 100% a possibility. He's worn out his welcome.

  2. You're a real beat off eh? His presence would be the positive subtraction, there would be a haul coming back to supplement his exit on the field. I didn't know I had to be so literal. And where were you Thanksgiving night when I let the good folks on here know the team was signing a starter? You won't find any time line that had that s%*# before me. By about a day. I'll take my L's but be consistent or f*** off and ignore me.

  3. The two new threads I wake up to are the Padres signing Bogaerts and the Sox Joey Gallo rumor thread. It’s fucking poetic.

  4. Btw, can’t believe how many people want the Dodgers potential 4A prospects for Timmy and Hendriks. Some of these proposals are gross.

  5. I'm not finding the archived posts so here's what I can do from memory. Game 1: Tony LaRussa never fought for home field advantage. Lance Lynn was put on the mound in game 1, coming off an injury. Lance Lynn had an ERA of >5 while pitching at Minute Maid Park, including being beaten there in 2021. However they wanted to do this, they needed to not have Lynn pitching at Minute Maid, it was a clear issue. They should have absolutely tried harder for home field advantage, and barring that, Lynn should have pitched game 3. Game 1: Lance Lynn's gameplan was terrible. Lynn threw 6 offspeed pitches out of 70 pitches that game. The Astros were well coached and were prepared for his gameplan, which was not different from any of the other games he pitched during the year. This was a clear flaw. Feel free to hang this on the pitching coach too. Game 2: If you go to the game 2 game thread, I say in there "The bullpen is fully rested. You cannot allow Lucas to have the lead and then lose this game without bringing in the bullpen." Lucas had the lead and LaRussa left him in to lose it once several runners got on. Game 2: The White Sox's defensive positioning was utterly awful. Bummer in particular was victimized by this in game 2. I believe it cost Giolito on the tie/goahead run also. The difference between the Astros and White Sox during these games was staggering, every ground ball had a player just barely get to it for the Astros and just barely miss it for the White Sox. Game 2: Garret Crochet pitched in back to back games 3 times all year. He never once pitched in a back to back situation without giving up a run. LaRussa used him in a blowout in game 1 for reasons no one understands. He then brought Crochet into the 5th inning of game 2, on back to back days, with runners on base, in what I believe was a tie game. Bummer did not pitch game 1 and was available. Crochet, just as he did the few times he was used that way during the year, was scored on. That was the winning run. Game 2: LaRussa pinch hit Cesar Hernandez for reasons. Because of this move, Leury Garcia moved to RF. Leury Garcia had a key error on a ball off of Kimbrel that game, leading to the floodgates opening. Game 4: Rodon was left in too long. He should not have been left in to face Correa in the key at bat where they took the lead. Once a runner got to 3rd, he was unwilling to use his slider because he didn't know if Grandal could block it (Correa himself said that if Rodon threw the slider he was toast). Rodon threw him either 3-4 straight fastballs and Correa knocked in the goahead runs on one of those. His fastball velocity was several mph slower than earlier in that same game, but somehow the manager missed this. Game 4: Michael Kopech never once during the 2021 season threw 40+ pitches and then came back out to pitch 2 days later. Michael Kopech threw nearly 50 pitches in game 3. Tony LaRussa himself said Kopech was unavailable for game 4. Kopech was the first person out of the pen once Rodon gave up the hit to Correa, and no one ever asked LaRussa about the contradiction. He actually got out of that inning, and then LaRussa left him in for the next inning where he proceeded to be hit around, breaking the game open. Game 4: Lance Lynn was available on normal rest for the spot where Kopech was sent out, including for the second inning. He never pitched that game. There were more, but those are the ones burned into my memory. Every one of those games goes a different way with a competent manager, they may not win but LaRussa set them up horribly over and over and over. I honestly don't know which of these had the biggest impact on the series. Dusty Baker gave the White Sox game 3 with a ludicrous pinch hitting decision that was still the worst managerial move of that series. #s 2 through whatever were all LaRussa though.

  6. Like I said earlier, TA is going to be worth a s%*# ton more on the open market than the Sox are going to be willing to extend him for. If they don't want him here long term, deal him now while the pressure is off anyway. Deal him and Gio for the same reason. If we are going to act like Oakland on the FA market, no reason to keep pretending to be contenders.

  7. Every team can afford the contract Nimmo just signed. What is the point of being a billionaire, owning a baseball team, & not doing everything possible to try and win?

  8. To be honest, I think the Sox should play for being in the best position they can be for 2025. We aren’t winning anything the next two years. Astros are too good, and too many other AL teams are better now and in a better position for the future. What I’m trying to say…sell the team, Jerry.

  9. Sorry, I worded that like a dumbass. Nothing I know if pending, but they are listening, I and would be happy to move him. 1 addition by subtraction. 2 his value is probably at its peak today, higher after Swansom signs.I believe I said on here right after his last injury he would not be back with the team the rest of the season and i believed he played his last game in Chicago. People can vouch that I've called this going back now. And long before his personal issues, and I am not referencing anything to do with that. I would put him almost as likely to be the Sox SS in 2023 as he is in ATL or LA. He is 100% not untouchable or not I discussions. That "like" is no coincidence.

  10. You once argued they should have been playing Nick Williams. /end discussion You’re arguing nothing here. Who knows. Maybe the Sox had interest but he chose a team with a clearer path to more playing time. He got a MLB deal with a rebuilding team. Teams that are in their competitive window don’t do that. One thing I do know is posting a AAAA player’s name 20 times a fuckin day certainly isn’t going to help the the team in anyway. Time to move on.

  11. Sox with Jerry as the owner have no shot in this environment. Mets also just signed Robertson.

  12. Hahn is like a terrified 16 year old driving on the autobahn. He’s over matched compared to LAD, HOU, BOS, NYY, etc. He doesn’t have the payroll, the scouting, the analytics, the prospects, or the acumen to win high stakes trades/free agency. Maybe not all of it is his fault, but that’s the reality of the situation.

  13. addition by subtraction 😂 the teams record without anderson the past few years is like 15 games under 500, with him they're like 40 games over. addition by subtraction is the funniest s%*# i've read here in a long time.

  14. It's fascinating. The Sox were one of the highest batting average teams in the league with one of the lowest strikeout rates and the most singles, but fans have convinced themselves that what they need are more low-strikeout contact-first guys
    6 points
  15. He struck out 49% of the time with the Dodgers. How the hell does a shift change affect a guy who cant make contact? Give me a break.

  16. Remarkable that the Padres are in the 28th (I believe) largest media market in baseball yet they're able to load their roster up with stars. meanwhile, we're over here wondering if Jerry would allow Hahn to spend ~10M on Gallo. What a joke.

  17. If we are going to act like the Pittsburgh Pirates in free agency, the window is already closed. Might as well blow it up then.

  18. Of all of the people to get crapped on in this organization for his off of the field actions, I have no idea why TA is the guy that gets picked. Well I guess I do, but that is a whole different thing that would cause so many meltdowns it isn't even worth it.

  22. Yes. It’s not that the Sox can’t, it’s that they won’t. They refuse to. It’s down right infuriating at this point.

  25. Sure, but at the end of the day it’s MLB’s CBA that allows poor teams to cake in revenue sharing money and for rich clubs to spend without limits. It’s beyond broken and I say that as fan of a franchise not horribly impacted by that.

  26. I think this illustrates why so many of these conversations are going in circles. - They aren't going for it and spending money, so might as well rebuild. - But we don't trust this FO to do the rebuild. - And the FO office isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so might as well try to go for it and spend money. - They aren't going for it and spending money, so might as well rebuild. 🔄🔄🔄

  27. Suspensions, injuries, drama. There a couple things I know that he's done that were stupid. Nothing egregious or anything, but things that burn bridges. Again, this is before his private stuff, again I'm not referencing that stuff. Can't imagine that helps things either though.

  28. Just want to point out TA has played in just under 69% (nice) of Sox games over the last four seasons. Not exactly a player who is showing a strong durability factor. Look, he’s a good player, but I don’t consider him an untradeable guy. If the Sox want to make a good old fashioned baseball trade with him involved, go ahead and do it. If it’s just for “he’s gotta go” reasons, then I’d be more on board with seeing what a new coaching staff can bring out of TA.

  31. LOL I was wondering when Ray Ray would enter the thread. Pal is his mortal enemy on here, moreso because his patented "pal" line doesn't have the same effect on him.

  32. They have done a lot of stupid things so it honestly wouldn’t be that surprising. I love TA, but looking at the contracts these shortstops are getting, there is zero chance he will get that money here unless Jerry Reinsdorf is no longer on this Earth. So trading him for a haul now and reloading might not be the worst idea.

  33. You get TLR emojis because it’s all you say. Move on dude. No one wants to hear you measure your electronic scouting penis anymore. It’s unbearable. Stone Garrett is gone and Aquino signed in the NPB because he’s awful. No one on Sox talk is impressed by your self acclaimed scouting greatness.

  35. Garbage picking move for a garbage franchise, so it sounds about right. I wish my dad hadn't taken me to that Rangers @ White Sox doubleheader for my first professional sporting event. They've had success here and there with their dumpster diving. That's very unfortunate.

  37. The fan base has been molded in to what it is by 42 years of Jerry Reinsdorf's mediocre ownership. The White Sox are a potential goldmine for a new owner if they think outside of the box.
    3 points
  38. Naw. A smart organization would hold onto the shortstop they control for 2 years at least until Montgomery is ready and would instead go sign the LH outfielder who is a much better fit at a position where they have no help coming any time soon.

  39. If they trade TA, there is no window. It’s ovah. And honestly, it probably already is, as painful as that is to admit.

  41. It would be nice to get the haul and than turn around and sign Swanson. Upgrade the D, maintain the offense, get more assets. Win WIN WIN. Even though I am a huge TA fan.

  42. Apples and Oranges Abreu was a 4 win player last year and arguably the glue that held this island of misfit toys together TA was a 2 win shortstop who has off the field/clubhouse issues, who's one trick is hitting for average I was/am pissed that Abreu is gone, I wouldn't mind in the slightest if TA was traded, in fact I kind of want it to happen because we could probably get a decent haul in an overpay

  43. I’m sitting here thinking about how toxic that clubhouse must have been for them to show Jose Abreu the door and for rumors to be swirling that TA is next. Players are people too but WTF? These players all seemed tight AF playing for Ricky, and after 2 years of TLR everything goes to s%*# and faces of the franchise have supposedly worn out their welcome? Something doesn’t add up here.
